Preparation and characterization of a chitosan-based low-pH-sensitive intelligent corrosion inhibitor

A chitosan （CS）-based low-pH-sensitive intelligent corrosion inhibitor was prepared by loading a pH-sensitive hydrogel with benzotriazole （BTA）; the pH-sensitive hydrogel was synthetized by crosslinking CS with glutaraldehyde （GTA）. Analysis by Fou- tier-transform inflared （FT-IR） spectroscopy showed that Schiff reactions occurred between amino and aldehyde groups. The swelling abil- ity of the hydrogel was investigated using a mass method, and it was observed to swell more in an acidic environment than in an alkaline en- vironment. The hydrogel＇s loading capacity of BTA was approximately 0.377 g·g ^-1, and its release speed was faster in an acidic environment than in an alkaline environment because of its swelling behavior. The corrosion inhibition ability of the intelligent inhibitor was tested by immersion and electrochemical methods. The results showed that after 4 h of immersion, the polarization resistance （Rp） value of copper with the intelligent inhibitor was approximately twice of that of copper with BTA, indicating that the intelligent inhibitor could effectively prevent copper from corroding.

In this paper, the flow fields of underexpanded impinging jet issued from rectangular nozzles of aspect ratio 1, 3 and 5 are numerically and experimentally studied. Two dimensional temperature and pressure distributions are measured by using infrared camera and the combination of a pressure scanning device and a stepping motor, respectively. The variation of the stagnation pressure on the impinging plate reveals that a hysteretic phenomenon exists during the increasing and decreasing of the pressure ratio for the aspect ratio of 3.0 and 5.0. It is also found that the nozzle of aspect ratio 1.0 caused the largest total pressure loss Pc /p0= 0.27 at the pressure ratio of Po /p0 = 6.5, where Pc is the stagnation center pressure on the wall, P0 the upstream stagnation pressure, Pb the ambient pressure. The other two nozzles showed that the pressure loss Pc / P0 =0.52 and 0.55 were achieved by the nozzles of the aspect ratio 3,0 and 5.0, respectively. The comparison between the calculations and experiments is fairly good, showing the three dimensional streamlines and structures of the shock waves in the jets. However, the hysteresis of the pressure variations observed in the experiments between the pressure ratio of 3.5 and 4.5 cannot be confirmed in the calculations.

Effect of Fuselage Cross Section on Aerodynamic Characteristics of Reusable Launch Vehicles

This paper introduces the benchmark problem of starting speed control for internal combustion（IC）engines that targets to develop control strategies to improve the transient performance with constraint combustion condition during the engine starting *** design specifications and the engine simulator provided for pre-validations are shown in *** one of the challengers,we give a brief illustration of the proposed *** particular,the experimental testing issues for the benchmark problem are explained,and the experimental validation result of the proposed challenging result is originally presented.

An experimental study on examining aerodynamic characteristics of fuselage cross sections for RLVs (Reusable Launch Vehicles) was conducted at Mach number 0.3, 0.9 and 4.0 in the wind tunnel of ISAS (Institute of Space and Astronautical Science), JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). Three bodies, having the same projected area and length, with and without a set of fins, were tested. Their cross sections are a circle, a square and a triangle with rounded corners. The results showed that the fuselage cross sections had large effects on aerodynamic characteristics in subsonic and transonic flow. The lift coefficient of the model having the triangular cross section with a set of the fins was larger than that of the others in high angles of attack region due to contributions of the separation vortices generated from the fuselage expanding to the wing surface.

River ice jam is one of the most important issues in rivers in cold regions during winter time. With the extra solid boundary due to the ice cover, the flow condition under ice-covered conditions is completely different from that of a open channel flow. The presence of bridge piers will further change the velocity field around the bridge piers. As a consequence, the formation and the accumulation of ice jams in the vicinity of the bridge pier will be affected. On the other side, the formation of an ice jam around the piers can cause extra turbulence to reduce the stability of a river bridge. The present study focuses on the stress analysis of the ice jam in the vicinity of a bridge pier. By developing a governing equation for describing the equilibrium state of an ice jam, the stability of the ice jam around bridge piers is analyzed and determined. As seen from the field data in literature, the stability estimations of an ice jam around bridge piers determined by the present method agree well with the field observations. Therefore, the proposed approach can be used for the prediction of the formation of ice jams around bridge piers.

The existing investigations of vehicle ride comfort mainly include motion characteristics analysis based on creating a multi-body dynamic simulation model,and the parameters analysis to improve the suspension control for the *** the study of creating multi-body dynamics simulation models,there is usually without considering calibration and test verification,which make it difficult to ensure the production of *** the study of improving the suspension control parameters for the target,there is a lack of systematic match about comfortable and human characteristics,so it is difficult to implement in the field of driving and leading the vehicle *** this paper,based on the different characteristic of suspension system that effects on the vehicle ride comfort, according to the suspension system dynamic mechanism,the research methods of vehicle road test,bench test and CAE simulation is used,at the same time,several sensitivity analysis of vehicle ride comfort related to suspension stiffness and damping and speed is made. As a result,the key suspension systematic parameters are given that have important impact on vehicle ride *** matching parameters,a calibration analysis of suspension system based on human comfort is *** analysis results show that the analysis methods for the design target of making the vehicle with best comfort are *** the basis of the theory study,five suspension parameter matching principles are explored to promise the vehicle with perfect ride comfort,which also provide theoretical basis and design methods for the passenger car best match of suspension system stiffness and *** research results have the promotional value of practicability and a wide range of engineering application.

Decomposition mass loss and pyrolysis products analyses of particles sampled at various locations along the tailpipe of a Euro-IV diesel engine were performed using a thermo gravimetry in conjunction with Fourier transformation infrared spectrometrymass *** particles were collected at the same location with and without diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC)mounted on the test engine *** three poles in thermal gravity-differential thermal gravity images suggested that the decomposition process of diesel particles could be divided into three stages which correspond to the decompositions of lower boiling substances,higher boiling substances and soot *** is noticed that no matter whether DOC was mounted or not,the further the particles were sampled away from the engine block,the lower the peak temperatures and the heavier the mass losses within the first two stages,which indicated that the soluble organic fraction in the particle samples increased and therefore lowering the activation energy of thermal ***,ammonia,C_xH_y fragments,benzene,toluene,and phenol were found to be the primary products of particle decomposition,which didn’t change with the location of particle sample *** employment of DOC increased the activation energy for particle oxidation and resulted in a higher peak temperature and lower mass loss within the ***,the C=O stretching bands of aldehyde and ketone at 1771 cm-1 was only detected without a DOC,while the N02 peak at 1634 cm-1 was solely noticed with the presence of *** to the first-stage pyrolysis products,more polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and less C_xH_y fragments were seen in the second-stage.
