Pakistan is predominantly a mountainouscountry where rural development activities arecharacterised by inconsistency, politically motivatedshort-term projects without proper feedback. Sincethe inception of the country, the top-down approachhas been followed, and the same development plansthat were formulated for the plain areas have beenextended to the mountains without any modificationIn doing so, neither the participation of the locacommunities was cared for, nor the mountainspecificities were considered in the planning processMoreover, the representation of the local inhabitantswas improper and contradictory to the facts. Thisbiased approach has been one of the main causes forthe failure of development projects carried out bydifferent agencies of the Government. Contrary to theperception of the state authorities, the mountaincommunities proved to be more open to accept newapproaches and demonstrated the capacity andcapability of being a dependable development partnerIn this paper, a detailed account of the Aga KhanRural Support Programme (AKRSP) has beenpresented to assess and evaluate the approachfollowed by this non-governmental organisation (NGO), and the response of the local inhabitants as collaborators in the development process. The achievements of the AKRSP from project planning, implementation and monitoring can be adopted as a model for rural development not only in the plains, but also in the mountainous areas of the developing countries in the world.

1.Introduction Worldwide,cities and urbanised areas attract more people and economic activities.In addition,new ways of working,shopping and recreation,mobility and‘ownership’are introduced-all influenced by digitalisation.The United Nations(2018)expect the world-wide population living in urbanised regions to grow from 55% to 68% by 2050.However,concentration of residential,industrial,commercial,and recreational activities leads to an increasing pressure on land use and accessibility,potentially causing adverse environmental,health and liveability effects.Increasing housing density and decreasing space for transport infrastructure and parking call for new smart mobility approaches to ensure sustainable and inclusive accessibility.

Influences of Shrinkage,Creep,and Temperature on the Load Distributions in Reinforced Concrete Buildings During Construction

Site measurements have shown that slab loads re-distribute, between the slabs during the concrete curing, while the external Ioadings and structural geometry remain the same. Some have assumed that this is caused by concrete shrinkage and creep, but there have been no studies on how these factors exactly influence the load distributions and to what degree these influences exist. This paper analyzes the influences of concrete shrinkage, creep, and temperature on the load re-distributions among slabs. Although these factors may all lead to load re-distribution, the results show that the influence of concrete shrinkage can be neglected. Simulations indicate that shrinkage only reduces slab loads by a maximum of 1.1%. Creep, however, may reduce the maximum slab load by from 3% to 16% for common construction schemes. More importantly, temperature variations between day and night can cause load fluctuation as large as 31.6%. This analysis can, therefore, assist site engineers to more accurately estimate slab loads for construction planning.

In this paper we explore the preconditions and requirements in order to enable the renewal of the vehicle fleet towards e-cars without weakening eco-mobility(public transport,biking,walking).We follow a linked approach of arranging charging infrastructure and regulating the parking spaces.We analyze the results of this approach by modeling different scenarios for the case study city of Vienna with the LUTI(land-use transport interaction)model MARS(Metropolitan Activity Relocation Simulator).Four different policy scenarios are modeled and the results compared.We look at changes in transport behavior(modal split and vehicle kilometers),the emissions and the impact on public transport ridership.

High-rise reinforced concrete buildings are in great demand in developing countries with rapid urbanization. Construction engineers are facing more and more safety control challenges. One major issue is the understanding of the load distributions, especially the maximum slab load, of structures under construction, which is time dependent. Previous methods were mainly targeted to specific examples, providing specific solutions without addressing the fundamental issues of finding general solutions for load distributions in reinforced concrete buildings with different geometrical and material characteristics during construction. The concept of a structural characteristic parameter is used here to parametedze the main geometrical and material characteristics of concrete structures for generalized assessments of load distributions during construction. The maximum slab load for 20 different construction shoring/reshoring schemes is presented. The results indicate that the traditional simplified method may underestimate or overestimate the maximum slab load, depending mainly on the shoring/reshoring schemes. The structural characteristic parameter approach was specifically developed to assist construction engineers to estimate load distributions to assure safe construction procedures.

The Shui people are an ethnic minority living in southern mountainous areas of Guizhou Province,China;they have retained many vernacular houses with a history of over a century.Using spatial analysis software depthmapX to perform visibility graph analysis and field-of-view analysis with space syntax,we examined the sequence,organisation,and hierarchy of the living space in Shui residences.We found that those residences were influenced by external cultures,resulting in two types of plan layout:front-middle-back(type A)and left-middle-right(type B).Those two types of spatial combination were evident in two different line-of-sight axes.With type A,the hearth was the core and served as the daily living space of the family.With type B,the ancestral altar was the core and served as the ritual space.The historical coexistence and changing relationship of the two axes reflect cultural exchange between the Shui and Han as well as with other foreign cultures.This study concludes that the diversity of spatial forms that developed in different historical periods is an important attribute of Shui houses and those of other ethnic minorities in Southwest China.

以顾桥煤矿1115(1)工作面为试验点,运用国际先进的岩层应力、位移、孔隙流压等实时监测手段,围岩变形与水、气耦合的COSFLOW数值模拟技术以及研究采动区流场特征的CFD模拟技术,系统研究并基本掌握了11号煤层深部煤层开采过程中的围岩应力场、裂隙场以及瓦斯流动场之间的动态变化规律。研究表明,采动支承压力影响范围可达300 m,覆岩运动和采动裂隙发育范围在工作面后方170 m以内,170 m以后采动裂隙基本压实,采动裂隙发育高度以及孔隙流压明显降低的高度可达145 m。在此基础上判别了1115(1)工作面上覆煤层群瓦斯高效抽采范围,并初步建立了低透气性煤层群瓦斯高效抽采的高位环形裂隙体及其判别方法,为煤与瓦斯共采理论发展以及工程实践提供了一套新的科学研究方法和工程设计手段。

Sharing Economy has arrived in Greece carrying on the experience of abroad and together with the so-called“good practices”,it still seems to be in a standstill.So,the“hosts”are multiplying day by day,the big hotel companies are not responding at the moment,and most studies end up with balanced use of the phenomenon.Main research objective of this paper is to examine the consequences of the COVID 19 pandemic to the Sharing Economy according to the perceptions of the owners.More precisely,the paper examines the characteristics of Thessaloniki’s tourism product and how they emerge more effectively through the Sharing Economy.In the city center there are more than 2,000 active properties.The present research uses a non-random sample as descriptive means.The“convenience sampling method”was addressed to participants with the above qualities whose contact details were known to the researchers.The research population is the active depositors on the Sharing platforms and/or the accommodation managers.Their contact details were found after research done at Sharing Economy platforms,internet sites,social media profiles and groups,and AirDNA data.To the authors’best knowledge this is the first attempt that has been done in order to investigate the effects and the future of the Sharing Economy in the Municipality of Thessaloniki during the COVID 19 pandemic based on the views of the owners.

Objective To investigate the hypermethylation status of glutathione transferase P1(GSTP1)and E-cadherin(ECAD),TSGs(tumor suppressor genes)in our breast cancer samples and explore their correlation with clinicopathological features of corresponding cancer patients.Methods One hundred and thirty-six IDC(invasive ductal carcinoma)patients were recruited for analysis and 16 fibroadenoma patients acted as control.DNA extraction and methylation-specific PCR(MSP)were subsequently performed preceded by pathological examination.Results The percentage of hypermethylated GSTP1 in carcinoma and fibroadenoma groups was 34.92% and 15.79% respectively and the percentage of hypermethylated ECAD in carcinomas and fibroadenomas was 18.00% and 0.00% respectively.Carcinoma had the highest percentage of c-erbB2 overexpression being 54.55% among the clinicopathological parameters.Conclusion Hypermethylation patterns are frequent in IDC and seem to relate to c-erbB2 overexpression,and such epigenetic change should not be neglected in fibroadenoma.Tumor methylation status in cancer patients can be determined at early stage and it may be a reference for better treatment planning.
