Extreme droughts are anticipated to have detrimental impacts on forest ecosystems,especially in water-limited regions,due to the influence of climate ***,considerable uncertainty remains regarding the patterns in species-specific responses to extreme ***,we conducted a study integrating dendrochronology and remote sensing methods to investigate the mosaic-distributed maple-oak(native)natural forests and poplar plantations(introduced)in the Horqin Sandy Land,Northeast *** assessed the impacts of extreme droughts on tree performances by measuring interannual variations in radial growth and vegetation *** results showed that precipitation and self-calibrated palmer drought severity index(scPDSI)are the major factors influencing tree-ring width index(RWI)and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI).The severe droughts between 2000 and 2004 resulted in reduced RWI in the three studied tree species as well as led to NDVI reductions in both the maple-oak natural forests and the poplar *** RWI reached the nadir during the2000-2004 severe droughts and remained at low levels two years after the severe drought,creating a legacy *** contrast to the lack of significant correlation between RWI and scPDSI,NDVI exhibited a significant positive correlation with scPDSI indicating the greater sensitivity of canopy performance to droughts than radial ***,interspecific differences in RWI and NDVI responses were observed,with the fast-growing poplar species experiencing a more significant RWI decrease and more negative NDVI anomaly during severe droughts than native species,highlighting the species-specific trade-offs between drought resilience and growth *** study emphasizes the importance of combining tree-level radial growth with landscape-scale canopy remote sensing to understand forest resilience and *** study improves our understanding of forest responses to extreme drought and highlights species di

Nitrogen Nutrition Index and Its Relationship with N Use Efficiency, Tuber Yield, Radiation Use Effi ciency, and Leaf Parameters in Potatoes

Knowledge about crop growth processes in relation to N limitation is necessary to optimize N management in farming system. Plant-based diagnostic method, for instance nitrogen nutrition index （NNI） were used to determine the crop nitrogen status. This study determines the relationship of NNI with agronomic nitrogen use efficiency （AEN）, tuber yield, radiation use efficiency （RUE） and leaf parameters including leaf area index （LAI）, areal leaf N content （NJ and leaf N concentration （N0. Potatoes were grown in field at three N levels： no N （N 1）, 150 kg N ha^-1 （N2）, 300 kg N ha^-1 （N3）. N deficiency was quantified by NNI and RUE was generally calculated by estimating of the light absorbance on leaf area. NNI was used to evaluate the N effect on tuber yield, RUE, LAI, NAL, and NL. The results showed that NNI was negatively correlated with AEN, N deficiencies （NNI〈 1） which occurred for N 1 and N2 significantly reduced LAI, NL and tuber yield; whereas the N deficiencies had a relative small effect on NAL and RUE. To remove any effect other than N on these parameters, the actual ratio to maximum values were calculated for each developmental linear relationships were obtained between NNI and tuber RUE to NNI. stage of potatoes. In recent years,the Cloud Imaging Probe(CIP)and Precipitation Imaging Probe(PIP)produced by Droplet Measurement Technologies(DMT)have been introduced by a number of meteorological research and operation centers in *** supporting software provided by DMT,i.e.,PADS(Particle Analysis and Display System),cannot output detailed information on each individual particle,which definitely limits the in-depth utilization of cloud and precipitation particle image data in *** this paper,particle-by-particle information was extracted by decompressing the CIP and PIP original particle image data,based on which a new definition of the dimension for nonspherical particles is proposed by using the area of the convex hull enclosing a particle to obtain the equivalent diameter of a circle with equal *** on the data detected during one flight in Inner Mongolia,the particle size distribution obtained using the new particle size definition and that used by the other four existing definitions are *** results show that the particle number concentration calculated using different particle size definitions can vary by up to an order of *** result obtained based on the new particle size definition is closest to that calculated with the area-equivalent diameter definition.

Metabonomics study of liver and kidney subacute toxicity induced by garidi-5 in rats

Objective:Metabonomics was used to analyze and explore the biomarkers and possible mechanisms of liver and kidney subacute toxicity induced by garidi-5 in ***:Taking garidi-5 as the target drug and SD rats as the research objects,each administration group except the normal group was intragastric administration of the corresponding drug solution for28 *** serum,liver and kidney samples of rats were detected by metabolomics and characterized by principal component analysis(PCA)and partial least squares discriminant analysis(PLS-DA)to identify the sensitive markers and metabolic pathways of liver and kidney subacute ***:Metabolomics analysis showed that compared with the normal group(Z),the 52,64 and 54 different metabolites were identified in the serum,liver and kidney samples of garidi-5 high dose group(GG),which were mainly enriched in ABC transporters,arginine and proline metabolism,nicotinate and nicotinamide metabolism,central carbon metabolism in cancer ***:The preliminarily suggested that garidi-5 can damage the liver and kidney by affecting the ABC transporters,arginine and proline metabolism,nicotinate and nicotinamide metabolism pathways,*** N-oxide,L-pyroglutamic acid,glycine-betaine,xanthine,glutathione,L-leucine,cytidine,L-arginine,spermidine,urea,5-aminovaleric acid,creatine,L-glutamic acid,1-methylnicotinamide and S-adenosyl-L-methionine can be used as potential biomarkers of liver and kidney toxicity sensitivity.

BACKGROUND Fuzi(Radix aconiti lateralis)-Gancao(Radix glycyrrhizae)is one of the most classical drug pairs of traditional Chinese *** clinical practice,decoctions containing Fuzi-Gancao(F-G)are often used in the treatment of liver diseases such as hepatitis and liver *** To investigate the metabolomics of F-G in CCl4 induced acute liver injury in rats and its regulatory effect on the bile acid *** The pharmacodynamic effect of F-G on CCl4 induced acute liver injury in rats was evaluated,and an ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS)method for the simultaneous determination of 92 metabolites from multiple pathways was established to explore the protective metabolic mechanism of F-G in serum on the *** Twenty-four differential metabolites were identified in serum *** primary bile acid biosynthetic metabolic pathway was the major common pathway in the model group and F-G ***,a UPLC-MS/MS method for simultaneous determination of 11 bile acids,including cholic acid,ursodeoxycholic acid,glycochenodeoxycholic acid,glycochenodeoxycholic acid,taurocholic acid,glycocholic acid,chenodeoxycholic acid,deoxycholic acid,taurochenodeoxycholic acid,taurocholic acid,and glycinic acid,was established to analyze the regulatory mechanism of F-G in serum.F-G decreased the contents of these 11 bile acids in serum in a dose-dependent manner compared with those in the model control *** F-G could protect hepatocytes by promoting the binding of free bile acids to glycine and taurine,and reducing the accumulation of free bile acids in the liver.F-G could also regulate the compensatory degree of taurine,decreasing the content of taurine-conjugated bile acids to protect hepatocytes.

Folic acid supplementation attenuates hyperhomocysteinemia-induced preeclampsia-like symptoms in rats

Folic acid participates in the metabolism of homocysteine and lowers plasma homocysteine levels directly or indirectly. To establish a hyperhomocysteinemic pregnant rat model, 2 mL of DL-homocysteine was administered daily by intraperitoneal injection at a dose of 200 mg/kg from day 10 to day 19 of gestation. Folic acid was administered by intragastric administration at a dose of 20 mg/kg during the period of preeclampsia induction. Results showed that systolic blood pressure, proteinuria/creatinine ratio, and plasma homocysteine levels in the hyperhomocysteinemic pregnant rats increased significantly, and that body weight and brain weight of rat pups significantly decreased. Folic acid supplementation markedly reversed the above-mentioned abnormal changes of hyperhomocysteinemic pregnant rats and rat pups. These findings suggest that folic acid can alleviate the symptoms of hyperhomocysteinemia- induced preeclampsia in pregnant rats without influencing brain development of rat pups.

Metabolomics investigation on antiobesity effects of Corydalis bungeana on high-fat high-sugar diet-induced obese rats

Objective:Corydalis bungeana(CB)is a well-used medicinal herb in Mongolian folk medicine and has been traditionally applied as an antiobesity ***,the evidence-based pharmacological effects of CB and its specific metabolic alterations in the obese model are not entirely *** study aimed to utilize untargeted metabolomic techniques to identify biomarkers and gain mechanistic insight into the serum metabolite alterations associated with weight loss and lipid metabolism in obese ***:A high-fat high-sugar(HFHS)diet was used to induce obese models in *** extract was orally gavaged at 0.18,0.9 and 1.8 g/kg doses for six weeks,and feed intake,body weight,fat pad weight,and blood indexes were *** serum metabolites were evaluated by gas chromatography/quadrupole time-of-fight tandem mass spectrometry(GC-TOF/MS).Results:The results showed that compared with the obese group,the administration of CB extract caused significant decreases in body weight(P<0.05),feed intake,Lee’s index,and perirenal,mesenteric,epididymal fat *** extract also reduced blood triglyceride and total cholesterol levels(P<0.05)of obese *** findings showed that nine differential metabolites,including pyruvic acid,D-glucuronic acid,malic acid,dimethylglycine,oxoglutaric acid,pantothenic acid,sorbitol acid,fumaric acid and glucose 6-phosphate were identified under CB treatment and altered metabolic pathways such as TCA cycle,pantothenate and CoA biosynthesis,and glycolysis/***:This study demonstrated weight loss and lipid lowering effects of CB on HFHS diet-induced obese rats and identified nine metabolites as potential biomarkers for evaluating the favorable therapeutic mechanism of CB via regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism.

Early intravenous administration of tirofiban is recommended in patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with alteplase:a meta-analysis

Background:The occurrence of early neurological deterioration following intravenous thrombolysis(IVT)is considered a particularly ominous clinical event and is strongly correlated with poor *** tirofiban within 24 h after IVT has been suggested as a better treatment option to achieve long-term functional ***,the rationality of this remedy is a *** purpose of the study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of early intravenous tirofiban administration after IVT in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS).Methods:Databases including PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,and Web of Science were searched for clinical trials on early tirofiban implementation after IVT in patients with AIS from inception to September *** ratios(ORs)were generated for dichotomous variants via meta-analysis using STATA 17.0 ***:Five clinical trials with 725 patients were *** study outcomes demonstrated that early tirofiban administration after IVT was not associated with symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage(OR,0.78;95%confidence interval(CI),0.22–2.74;P=0.70),asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage(OR,1.11;95%CI,0.52–2.37;P=0.80),systemic bleeding(OR,0.97;95%CI,0.42–2.23;P=0.94),and death(OR,1.05;95%CI,0.47–2.31;P=0.91),but may reduce the incidence of early neurological deterioration(OR,0.09;95%CI,0.02–0.50;P=0.01),and was significantly associated with 90-day excellent(modified Rankin scale score 0–1)(OR,2.01;95%CI,1.35–3.02;P=0.00)and favorable(modified Rankin scale score 0–2)(OR,2.30;95%CI,1.63–3.23;P=0.00)functional ***:The early intravenous administration of tirofiban after IVT in patients with AIS may be a safe and effective treatment strategy that improves long-term neurological functional outcomes without increasing the risk of adverse events.
