Dear Editor,Rice is an important staple food crop in Asia,but the anaerobic soil conditions in rice fields cause emission of the potent greenhouse gas,methane(CH)(Le Mer and Roger,2001),and promote the accumulation of arsenic(As)in the grain(Le Mer and Roger,2001;Khanam et al.,2020).To facilitate sustainable agriculture,using wastewater as an organic fertilizer is essential for reducing wastewater treatment-associated energy consumption and the recycling of wastewater nutrients(Zou et al.,2009).

Non-invasive potato defects detection has been demanded for sorting and grading *** on the classification of the defects has been available,however,investigation on the severity level calculation is *** the detection of the common scab,it has been found that imaging in the infrared region provide an interesting characteristic that could distinguish defected area to normal ***,investigations on this wavelength range is interesting to add more knowledge and for *** this research,the multispectral image has been obtained and investigated especially at three wavelengths(950,1150,1600 nm).Image pre-processing and pseudo-color conversion techniques were explored to enhance the contrast between defects,normal background skin area and soil *** show that external defects,such as common scab and some mechanical damage types,appear brighter in the near infrared region,especially at 1600 nm against the normal skin *** has been found that pseudo-color images conversion provides more information regarding type if surface characteristics compared to grayscale single *** segmentation using pseudo-color images after multiplication operation pre-processing could be used for common scab and mechanical damage detection excluding soil deposits with a Dice Sorensen coefficient of *** addition,image segmentation using single image at 1600 nm shown relatively better results with Dice Sorensen coefficient of 0.72 with note that thick soil deposits will also be *** severity level evaluation had an R2 correlation of 0.84 against standard measurements of severity.

In this paper, operator-based nonlinear water temperature control for a group of three connected microreactors actuated by Peltier devices is proposed. To control the water temperature of tube in the microreactor, the temperature change of aluminum effects is considered. Therefore, the temperature change of aluminum becomes the part of an input of the tube. First, nonlinear thermal models of aluminum plates and tubes that structure the microreactor are obtained. Then, an operator based nonlinear water temperature control system for the microreactor is designed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed models and methods is confirmed by simulation and experimental results.

In vegetable cultivation, the majority of N2O emissions occur after fertilization; it is therefore important to understand any factors contributing to this process. An experiment was conducted to investigate short-term N2O dynamics following topdressing in a greenhouse vegetable field in South China. During two topdressing processes, three different urea-N treatments with irrigation were conducted in May and June in a tomato （Lycopersicum esculentum） cultivation. The N2O fluxes, soil concentration profiles and soil environments at the 0-60 cm depths at 10 cm intervals were measured both immediately prior to and 5 days after topdressing. The N2O fluxes before topdressing ranged from 6.7=1=2.1 to 55.0-4-28.8 μg N m-2 h-1; even higher numbers were recorded in highly fertilized plots. The NO3-N accumulation in the soil caused by vegetable cultivation during the 5 years prior to the start of the experiment, resulted in high background N2O fluxes. One day after topdressing （1 DAT） in May and June, N2O fluxes increased, which coincided with sharp increases in soil N2O concentrations at depths of 2.5 and 15 cm and in NOa-N and NH4＋-N contents at depths of 0-20 cm. From 1 to 5 DAT, fluctuations in the N2O fluxes did not harmonize with the N2O concentrations at a depth of 2.5 cm, which was attributed to different gas diffusion rates at depths of 0-10cm. These results suggested that surface soil N and environmental conditions were crucial for determining the short-term N2O ebullitions during topdressing in greenhouse vegetable cultivation.

Anti-Obesity Effects of Dietary d-Allulose and Medium-Chain Triglycerides in High-Fat Diet-Fed Rats

Reverse power flow from a clustered PV system causes over-voltage problem in the distribution system. This paper proposes D-UPFC (Distribution-Unified Power How Controller) to solve the over-voltage condition when the clustered PV system is injected to the distribution system. D-UPFC simply controls distribution voltage level because PV systems almost produce active power. This system simply consists of AC-AC buck converter, a shunt transformer and an injection transformer. Simulation results show that D-UPFC controls distribution line voltage.

d-Allulose, a rare sugar, exerts anti-obesity effects by inhibiting hepatic lipogenesis and promoting energy expenditure. Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) consist of three medium-chain fatty acids connected by glycerol. MCTs have been extensively investigated for their ability to reduce body fat accumulation. We previously investigated the anti-obesity effects of a combination of dietary d-allulose and MCT (5% - 13%) in rats;however, we could not confirm the anti-obesity effects of MCT or observed synergetic effects between d-allulose and MCT on body fat loss. We speculated that our previous studies were influenced by the excessive amount of MCT in the diets. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the anti-obesity effects of the simultaneous intake of d-allulose and MCT in rats fed an obesity-inducing high-fat diet with a low amount of MCTs (2%). Thirty-two male Wistar rats (3-week-old) were randomly divided into four groups: control, d-allulose, MCT, and d-allulose + MCT groups. Rats in each group were fed ad libitum on a control (no d-Allulose or MCT), 5% d-allulose, 2% MCT, or 5% d-allulose + 2% MCT diets for 16 weeks. Abdominal adipose tissue weights were significantly lower in the d-allulose diet group than in the control group, whereas no differences were observed between results of the MCT-supplemented groups. The total body fat mass was significantly lower in the d-allulose and MCT diet groups than in the control group, but no differences were observed between the MCT-supplemented groups. These results suggested that anti-obesity effects of dietary d-allulose were observed, and the effects of dietary MCTs were weaker than those of d-allulose. Moreover, we confirmed the interaction between dietary d-allulose and MCT on indicators of obesity. Interestingly, their effects were not synergistic, as MCT supplementation offset the anti-obesity effects of dietary d-allulose. Most studies on dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium （DNRA） in paddy soils were conducted in the laboratory and in situ studies are in need for better understanding of the DNRA process. In this study, in situ incubations of soil DNRA using ^15N tracer were carried out in paddy fields under conventional water （CW） and low water （LW） managements to explore the potential of soil DNRA after liquid cattle waste （LCW） application and to investigate the impacts of soil redox potential （Eh） and labile carbon on DNRA. DNRA rates ranged from 3.06 to 10.40 mg N kg 1 dry soil d-1, which accounted for 8.55%-12.36% and 3.88% 25.44% of consumption of added NO3-^15N when Eh at 5 cm soil depth ranged from 230 to 414 mV and -225 to -65 mV, respectively. DNRA rates showed no significant difference in paddy soils under two water managements although soil Eh and/or dissolved organic carbon （DOC） were more favorable for DNRA in the paddy soil under CW management 1 d before, or 5 and 7 d after LCW application. Soil DNRA rates were negatively correlated with soil Eh （P 〈 0.05, n = 5） but positively correlated with soil DOC （P 〈 0.05, n - 5） in the paddy soil under LW management, while no significant correlations were shown in the paddy soil under CW management. The potential of DNRA measured in situ was consistent with previous laboratory studies; and the controlling factors of DNRA in paddy soils might be different under different water managements, probably due to the presence of different microfioras of DNRA.
