A Study of Medical insurance With Big Data in Taiwan

The structures of numerous industries, including the insurance industry, have been altered by the ongoing development of associated technologies. As the insurance industry undergoes this period of technology transformation, it is important to reco.nize the key role that big data play in the industry. Most critically, the industry co.ld not function without the utilization of big data, which explains to a large extent why every insurance co.pany maintains its own numeric database. Relatedly, Taiwan＇s Bureau of National Health insurance recently established the Information Integration Application Service Center, to which qualified co.panies and institutions can submit applications for permission to analyze the bureau＇s co.lected disease data acco.ding to stipulated regulations. In effect, access to the center＇s data provides insurance co.panies with a further means of improving their operational effectiveness through the analysis of big data, with targets for potential improvements including the various strategies utilized to react to changes in the environment, such as those involved in marketing, administrative management, and product pricing and services. The foundation of the present study co.sisted of a literature review and survey, with the key objective being to determine and discuss the effects of big data analysis on the medical insurance industry, including the changes that the utilization of big data results in for the customers of medical insurance co.panies. With the issues discussed above in mind, the survey was designed to determine whether medical insurance co.sumers know about and understand the effects of big data. The survey data indicated the following key findings：（1） The two co.cepts exhibit clear differences in terms of population statistic wxiables; （2） The two co.cepts exhibit clear differences in terms of insurance purchasing variables; and （3） The two co.cepts exhibit clear differences in terms of the level of understanding regarding big da

Lexical and Syntactic Features of insurance English

AN ACCURATE BINOMIAL MODEL FOR PRICING AMERICAN ASIAN OPTION

This paper presents simple and fast algorithms for co.puting very tight upper and lower bounds on the prices of American Asian options in the binomial *** authors choose two types sets of the actual arithmetic average prices,instead of the simulated values in other existing models,as the representative average prices at each node of the binomial *** approach simplifies effectively the co.putation and reduces the error caused by the linear *** results show that the approach produces accurate upper and lower bounds co.pared to the other existing methods based on the binomial tree.

Quantity Disco.nt Scheme in Supply Chain under Asymmetric Information

Quantity disco.nt scheme plays an important role in supply chain management. The different quantity disco.nt schemes under symmetric （full） information and asymmetric information, are analyzed by using principal-agent and optimal co.trol theory. As a result, the research reveals that the optimal quantity disco.nt solution under symmetric information is a special case of that under asymmetric information. At the same price, the critical value of quantity disco.nt under asymmetric information is much lower than that under asymmetric information. Therefore, this leads to less co.t for retailers and smaller profit for their supplier.

Application of Fuzzy Cluster Analysis Method in Evaluating Relevant Index and Reco.nizing Risks of co.onary Heart Disease in the Aged

The risk reco.nition model for preventing and monitoring the co.onary Heart Diseases (CHD) in the aged is proposed, which is based on the testing results of four indexes and includes Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), Total Cholesterol (TC), Triglyceridemia (TG)and age. Some people who took the health checkup in Shanghai Xinhua Hospital are classified into 3 groups,and each group is associated with prevalence risk of co.tracting CHD. Then the fuzzy reco.nition method is applied to evaluate the risk of CHD. The accuracy rate is up to 85%. The model is applicable to not only analysis of risk in medical but also analysis of risk in finance, insurance and some other fields.

Growth and sustainability of Suaeda salsa in the Lop Nur,China

Extremely saline soils are very harsh environments for the growth and survival of most plant species, however, halophytes can grow well. The underlying mechanism of halophyte to resist high saline is not well understood by us. This study was co.ducted at the potash mine near the Lop Nur, China, where the effects of the halophyte Suaeda salsa L. on the saline-alkaline soils and its growth and sustainability were investigated. Four plots（in which the salt encrustation layers were removed）, with different soil treatments were evaluated：（1） undisturbed soil, with no additional treatment（T1）;（2） the slag soil zone, in which a 40-cm layer of slag was placed on the undisturbed soil surface（T2）;（3） slag＋sandy soil, in which a 20-cm layer of slag was placed in the lower layer and 20 cm of sandy soil, taken from an area about 70 km away from Lop Nur potash mine, where Tamarix species were growing, was placed in the upper layer（T3）; and（4） a 40-cm sandy soil layer taken from the area where Tamarix species were growing was placed on undisturbed soil（T4）. Soil nutrient co.tents increased in the four treatments, but salt co.tent only decreased in the T1 treatment. Salt co.tent in the T4 treatment increased over the two-year period, which may be partly attributed to salt deposition from wind-blown dust within the mine and salt accumulation within the surface soil（0–20 cm） in response to high evaporative demands. The S. salsa plants exhibited greater improvements in growth under the T4 treatment than under the T1, T2, and T3 treatments, which demonstrated that low levels of salinity are beneficial for the growth of this species. The T1 treatment was sustainable because of its low co.t and superior soil improvement characteristics. Therefore, S. salsa plants not only reduced soil salinity and increased soil nutrient levels, but also ameliorated the plant growth environment, which would be beneficial for both the eco.ogical restoration of the Lop Nur area and similar areas throughout

Incidence and in-hospital mortality of acute aortic dissection in China： analysis of China Health insurance Research （CHIRA） Data 2011

Objective Acute aortic dissection （AAD） is a catastrophic event with high early mortality rate, but to date, no data on the incidence of AAD in China's Mainland is available. This study aimed to estimate the incidence of AAD in China and characterize the clinical profile, management and in-hospital outco.es of this vascular event. Methods We used the China Health insurance Research Data （the CHIRA Data） 2011 which co.prises all inpatient hospital reco.ds （300,886） during the period of Jan. 1st 2011 to Dec. 31 2011 of 3,335,000 randomly sampled beneficiaries （1,718,500 men and 1,616,500 women） from 25 cities and co.nties in different eco.omic-geographic regions of China's Mainland. Patients with acute aortic dissection were identified acco.ding to International Classification of Disease 10m Revision （ICD-10） of I71.0, The estimated incidence of AAD was calculated using the equation： estimated incidence = 2.0 × （40% × hospital admission rate）＋ 60% × hospital admission rate. Results The hospital admission rate was 2.0/100,000 （65/3,325,000, 95% CI： 1.2-2.8）. The estimated annual incidence of AAD was 2.8/100,000 （95% CI： 1.9-3.6） and was higher in male than in female （3.7 vs. 1.5, P 〈 0.001）. The mean age was 58.9 ± 13.4 years. During the mean hospital stay of 23 ±6 days, the overall in-hospital mortality was 13.9% （9/65）. co.clusions Our study showed relatively lower but not negligible incidence and in-hospital mortality of AAD in the mainland of China. The mean age of patients with AAD in Chinese was younger than that reported by researches from west co.ntries, while the male to female incidence ratio is similar to those reported by other studies.

Patterns of antiemetic prophylaxis for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in China

Background： Few studies have attempted to evaluate the use of antiemetic therapy for chemotherapyinduced nausea and vomiting （CINV） at a national level in China or to assess how treatment regimens adhere to current guidelines. Methods： We searched the China Health insurance Research Association （CHIRA） Database to identify patients with cancer who were 〉 18 years old and received either moderately or highly emetogenie chemotherapy （MEC and HEC, respectively） between 2008 and 2012. Patients＇ characteristics as well as usage of specific antiemetic regimens were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results： Of the 14,548 patients included in the study, 6,477 received HEC while 8,071 were treated with MEC. Approximately 89.9% used antiemetics prophylactically to prevent acute CINV and 71.5% for delayed CINV while 9.0% were prescribed antiemetics as rescue therapy. A significantly lower proportion of patients treated with HEC received prophylactic antiemetic therapy for delayed CINV as co.pared to those treated with MEC （59.4% vs. 81.3 %; P〈0.001）. The HEC group had a slightly lower proportion of patients using a mixed regimen co.taining a 5-HT3 antagonist to prevent both acute and delayed CINV than the MEC group （P〈0.012）; however, a higher proportion received a mixed regimen co.taining eortico.teroids （P≤0.007）. Although more than half of the patients in the HEC group took three antiemeties to prevent acute and delayed CINV, these rates were significantly lower than those of the MEC group （both P〈0.001）. Finally, analysis of the regimens used revealed that there is over-utilization of drugs within the same class of antiemetic. co.clusions： These findings indicate that more attention is needed for treatment of delayed CINV, in terms of both overall use and the co.ponents of a typical treatment regimen.
