Fluid Inclusion and H-O Isotope Geochemistry of the Phapon Gold Deposit, NW Laos: Implications for Fluid Source and Ore Genesis

The Phapon gold deposit, located in northern Laos, is a unique large-scale gold deposit in Luang Prabang-Loei metallogenic belt. It is hosted in the Lower Permian limestone and controlled by a NE-trending ductile-brittle fault system. There are three types of primary ore including auriferous calcite vein type, disseminated type, and breccia type, and the first two are important in the Phapon gold deposit. Based on fluid inclusion petrography and microthermometry, three types of primary fluid inclusions including type 1 liquid-rich aqueous, type 2 vapor-rich aqueous and type 3 daughter mineralbearing aqueous were identified in hydrothermal calcite grains. The ore-forming fluids are normally homogeneous, as indicated by the widespread type 1 inclusions with identical composition. The coexistence of type 1 and type 2 inclusions, showing similar final homogenization temperature but different compositions, indicate that fluid immiscibility did locally take place in both two types of ores. The results of microthermometry and H-O isotopes geochemistry indicate that there are little differences on ore-fluid geochemistry between the auriferous calcite vein-type and disseminated type ores. The oreforming fluids are characterized by medium-low temperatures(157–268 oC) and low salinity(1.6 wt.%–9.9 wt.% NaCl eq.). It is likely to have a metamorphic-dominant mixed source, which could be associated with dehydration and decarbonisation of Lower Permian limestone and Middle–Upper Triassic sandstones during the dynamic metamorphism. The fluid-wallrock interaction played a major role, and the locally occurred fluid-immiscible processes played a subordinate role in gold precipitation. Combined with the regional and ore deposit geology, and ore-fluid geochemistry, we suggest that the Phapon gold deposit is best considered to be a member of the epizonal orogenic deposit class.

Kinetics of nitrobenzene degradation coupled to indigenous microorganism dissimilatory iron reduction stimulated by emulsified vegetable oil

Widespread contamination by nitrobenzene（NB） in sediments and groundwater requires better understanding of the biogeochemical removal process of the pollutant. NB degradation, coupled with dissimilatory iron reduction, is one of the most efficient pollutant removal methods. However, research on NB degradation coupled to indigenous microorganism dissimilatory iron reduction stimulated by electron donors is still experimental. A model for remediation in an actual polluted site does not currently ***, in this study, the dynamics was derived from the Michaelis–Menten model（when the mass ratio of emulsified vegetable oil and NB reached the critical value 91：1）. The effect of SO4^（2-）, NO3^-, Ca^（2＋）/Mg^（2＋）, and the grain size of aquifer media on the dynamics were studied, and the NB degradation dynamic model was then modified based on the most significant factors. Utilizing the model, the remediation time could be calculated in a contaminated site.

Geodynamic mechanism responsible for the generation of Silurian granitoids and the tectonic evolution of the Qilian orogenic belt remains controversial. In this study, we report the results of zircon U–Pb age, and systematic whole-rock geochemical data for the Haoquangou and Liujiaxia granitoids within the north Qilian orogenic belt and the Qilian Block, respectively, to constrain their petrogenesis, and the Silurian tectonic evolution of the Qilian orogenic belt. Zircon U–Pb ages indicate that the Haoquangou and Liujiaxia intrusions were emplaced at423 ± 3 Ma and 432 ± 4 Ma, respectively. The Haoquangou granodiorites are calc-alkaline, while the Liujiaxia granites belong to the high-K calc-alkaline *** are peraluminous in composition and have relatively depleted Nd isotopic [ε_(Nd)(t) =(-3.9 – + 0.6)] characteristics compared with regional basement rocks, implying their derivation from a juvenile lower crust. They show adakitic geochemical characteristics and were generated by partial melting of thickened lower continental crust. Postcollisional extensional regime related to lithospheric delamination was the most likely geodynamic mechanism for the generation of the Haoquangou granodiorite, while the Liujiaxia granites were generated in a compressive setting during continental collision between the Qaidam and Qilian blocks.

Discovery of carbonaceous compressions and their multicellular tissues from the Changzhougou Formation (1 800 Ma) in the Yanshan range, north china

In 1997 and 1998, hundreds of specimens of megascopic carbonaceous compressions or algal fossils were found from - 1800-million-year old Changzhougou Formation, which is the lowermost unit of the latest Palaeoproterozoic Changcheng Group (~1 600-1 800 Ma) in the Xinglong-Kuancheng areas at the middle Yanshan Range, north china. They are discoid, ellipsoid and sausage-like, namely shaped like Chuaria Shouhsiennia (Ellipsophyta) and Tawuia. By adopting HF acid-resistant maceration coupled with scanning electron microscope and petrologic section, the authors made a preliminary research on the histology for some circular and ellipsoid carbonaceous compressions, namely Chuaria- and Shouhsienia-llke forms, in addition to their morphology. The following three types of multicellular tissues have been found in the fragments of them: colony-like, pseudoparenchyma-like and parenchyma-like. Genesis of S-type Granites in the Pengshan Sn-polymetallic Ore Field, northern Jiangxi Province and its Implications

The Pengshan Sn-polymetallic ore field is located in the southeastern part of the Yangtze block,spanning the southeast edge of the MLYDZ and the northern edge of the mid-segment of the Jiangnan Uplift,and on one side of the *** studies of LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb chronology and petrogeochemistry for Early Cretaceous acid granites from the Pengshan ore field were carried out in this *** report zircon U-Pb geochronology and whole-rock geochemistry for acid granites in the Pengshan ore *** zircon U-Pb ages of the muscovite-granite,biotite adamellite and granite-porphyry are 127.6±1.7 Ma,126.9±1.6 Ma and 126.6±2.0 Ma,*** granites in Pengshan are characterized by a high silicon content and are rich in *** belong to high-potassium,calc-alkaline,peraluminous *** rocks have a relatively high Rb/Ba ratio,and the data points for muscovite-granite and biotite adamellite all fall within the clay-rich sources region,near the pelite-derived end-member,showing that the Pengshan muscovite-granite and biotite adamellite mainly originated from the partial melting of metapelites with high *** transformation of the compressional and extensional tectonics in this region approximately 128 Ma obviously lags behind that in the mid-segment of the Jiangnan Uplift(135 Ma),but occurred earlier than the MLYDZ(126 Ma).The Pengshan ore field extends from the mid-segment of the Jiangnan Uplift to the *** the tectonic stress field is constrained by the combination of the two secondary tectonic units,the time of tectonic system transformation is closer to the MLYDZ because the spatial orientation of the area is enclosed in the *** geophysical and drilling data confirm the rationality of Pengshan-Ao'xia as a multi-center vertical zoning ore field,and show the scientificity of the prospecting idea of abutting joint between the north-west of Pengshan area and the south-east of Ao'xia area.

Epithermal gold deposits are typical precious metal deposits related to volcanic and subvolcanic *** to the lack of direct geological and petrographic evidences,the origin of the ore-forming fluid is deduced from the spatial diagenesis-mineralization relationship,chronological data,physicochemical characteristics of mineral fluid inclusions,mineral or rock elements and isotopic geochemical *** objectively examining this scientific problem via a geological field survey and petrographic analysis of the Gaosongshan epithermal gold deposit,we recently discovered and verified the following points:(1) Pyrite-bearing spherical quartz aggregates (PSQA) occur in the rhyolitic porphyry;(2) the mineralization is structurally dominated by WNW- and ENE-trending systems and occurs mostly in hydrothermal breccias and pyrite-quartz veins,and the ore types are mainly hematite-crusted quartz,hydrothermal breccia,massive pyrite-quartz,etc.;(3) the alteration types consist of prevalent silicification,sericitization,propylitization and carbonation,with local adularization and *** ore minerals are mainly pyrite,primary hematite,native gold,and electrum,with lesser amounts of chalcopyrite,magnetite,sphalerite,and galena,indicating a characteristic epithermal low-sulfidation *** ore-forming fluid may have been primarily derived from magmatic fluid exsolved from a crystallizing rhyolitic porphyry *** zircon U-Pb geochronology,fluid inclusion,physicochemical and isotopic geochemical analyses revealed that (1) rhyolitic porphyry magmatism occurred at 104.6 ± 1.0 Ma,whereas the crystallization of the PSQA occurred at 100.8 ± 2.1 Ma;(2) the hydrothermal fluid of the pre-ore stage was an exsolved CO2-bearing H2O-NaCl magmatic fluid that produced inclusions mainly composed of pure vapor (PV),vapor-rich (WV) and liquid-rich (WL) inclusions with a small number of melt-(M) and solid-bearing (S) inclusions;mineralization-stage quartz contains WL

Geochronological Framework of Paleoproterozoic Intrusive Rocks and Its Constraints on Tectonic Evolution of the Liao-Ji Belt,Sino-Korean Craton

The Liao-Ji belt(LJB)is one of the Paleoproterozoic tectonic belts located in the north china Craton.A large number of Paleoproterozoic meta-volcanic-sedimentary rock and intrusive rocks are preserved in the LJB,which provide reliable carriers for the study of the Paleoproterozoic tectonic evolution of the north china *** Paleoproterozoic intrusive rock in the LJB can be divided into the following seven types:syenogranite,quartz diorite,porphyry granite,migmatitic granite,sye-nite,metamorphic plutonic rock,and granitic pegmatite and metagabbro(metamorphic diabase).Zir-con U-Pb dating of 15 samples from intrusive rocks was carried out in this *** chronology framework of the Paleoproterozoic intrusive rock in the LJB was established,and the magmatism of intrusive rocks can be divided into three stages:2200 to 2110,2010 to 1937,1900 to 1820 *** chronological framework supported the evolution model of subduction accretionary arc-continent colli-sion in the LJB *** with previous geochemical work,it was a passive continental margin environment at approximately 2200 Ma,and then transformed into and active continental *** bimodal intrusive rocks between 2180 and 2150 Ma indicated a back-arc tension envi-ronment which lasted until approximately 2110 Ma with a large number of basic intrusive *** then the back-arc basin began to contract and the magmatic activities were reduced,with only a small number of intrusive rock activities occurring at approximately 2040,2010 and 1937 *** the orogenic activities,there was a post-orogenic extension stage from 1900 to 1820 *** activi-ties caused by the environmental extension started to occur more frequently and subsequently resulted in the large-scale intrusive rocks in eastern Liaoning.
