Membrane distillation crystallization （MDC） is a promising hybrid separation process that has been applied to seawater desalination, brine treatment and wastewater recovery. In recent years, great progress has been made in MDC technologies including the promotion of nucleation and better control of crystallization and crystal size distribution. These advances are useful for the accurate control of the degree of supersaturation and for the control of the nucleation kinetic processes. This review focuses on the development of MDC process models and on crystallization control strategies. In addition, the most important innovative applications of MDC in the last five years in crystal engineering and pharmaceutical manufac- turing are summarized.

This paper describes the self—adjustment of some tuning-knobs of the generalized predictive controller(GPC).A three feedforward neural network was utilized to on line learn two key tuning-knobs of GPC,and BP algorithm was used for the training of the linking-weights of the neural *** it gets rid of the difficulty of choosing these tuning-knobs manually and provides easier condition for the wide applications of GPC on industrial *** results illustrated the effectiveness of the method.

The infrared spectra of La_(0.65)Ba_xMnO_(3-|?￡(c) (x = 0.35, 0.33 and 0.30) were investigated experimentally. The result shows that the sample La_(0.65)Ba_xMnO_(3-|?￡(c) has the largest Curie temperature and the smallest resistivity and wave number of the stretching vibration mode of MnO_6 octaheUron at 300 K among the investigated samples. However, the absorption strength for the stretching vibration mode of Mn0_6 octahedron in La_(0.65)Ba_xMnO_(3-|?￡(c) is stronger for parainagnetic phase than that for ferromagnelic phase, which may be connected with the reducing of the dynamic in- coherent Jahn-Teller distortion below Curie temperature. In addition, the large shift of wave number for the stretching mode at the temperatures from 293 to 423 K has been observed in La_(0.65)Ba_xMnO_(3-|?￡(c), which may be due to the in- crease of the Mn-O bond length with temperature increasing.

The global bifurcation and chaos are investigated in this paper for a van der Pol-Duffing-Mathieu system with a single-well potential oscillator by means of nonlinear dynamics. The autonomous system corresponding to the system under discussion is analytically studied to draw all global bifurcation diagrams in every parameter space. These diagrams are called basic bifurcation ones. Then fixing parameter in every space and taking the parametrically excited amplitude as a bifurcation parameter, we can observe how to evolve from a basic bifurcation diagram to a chaos pattern in terms of numerical methods. The results are sufficient to show that the system has distinct dynamic behavior. Finally, the properties of the basins of attraction are observed and the appearance of fractal basin boundaries heralding the onset of a loss of structural integrity is noted in order to consider how to control the extent and the rate of the erosion in the next paper.

The models were established for the theoretical current-voltage characteristics in water dissociation process on a bipolar membrane. Particular attention was given to the transport of the water ions and electrolyte ions as well as the membrane physical structure and configuration. The factors on the water splitting process were adequately analysed based on the derived theoretical current-voltage characteristics and several good suggestions were proposed for decreasing the work voltage in practical operations. In addition, the model can give a reasonable explanation for the catalytic effect of some chemicals, such as amphiprotic hydroxide compounds, weak polymeric acids and bases, etc. It is shown that the catalyst may be responsible for the increase in dissociation rate constant of water and therefore enhance the water dissociation. The guidelines for choosing a proper catalyst were also proposed.

A sense feature system (SFS) is first automatically constructed from the text corpora to structurize the textural information. WSD rules are then extracted from SFS according to their certainty factors and are applied to disambiguate the senses of polysemous words. The entropy of a deterministic rough prediction is used to measure the decision quality of a rule set. Finally, the back off rule smoothing method is further designed to improve the performance of a WSD model. In the experiments, a mean rate of correction achieved during experiments for WSD in the case of rule smoothing is 0.92.

Web image retrieval is a challenging task. One central problem of web image retrieval is to rank a set of images according to how well they meet the user information need. The problem of learning to rank has inspired numerous approaches to resolve it in the text information retrieval, related work for web image retrieval, however, are still limited. We focus on the problem of learning to rank images for web image retrieval, and propose a novel ranking model, which employs a genetic programming architecture to automatically generate an effective ranking function, by combining various types of evidences in web image retrieval, including text information, image visual content features, link structure analysis and temporal information. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithms are capable of learning effective ranking functions for web image retrieval. Significant improvement in relevancy obtained, in comparison to some other well-known ranking techniques, in terms of MAP, NDCG@n and D@n.

CuNi10Fe1Mn alloy billet under rotating electromagnetic field (REF) was characterized in this work. The change of the crystal orientation was first explored by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning election microscope (SEM); the corrosion resistance was done by three electrodes system, and the natural sea water was used as corrosion medium. The results demonstrate that the strongest crystal orientation is transformed from crystal plane (200) to (111); moreover, the crystal plane (111) whose intensity is the strongest on the cross section and vertical section with REF causes the tubes be rolled easily, and the corrosion resistance of the billet is increasing with REF. As a result, properties of CuNi10Fe1Mn alloy tubes can be improved by REF.
