A foundation of the modern technology that uses single-crystal silicon has been the growth of highquality single-crystal Si ingots with diameters up to 12 inches or larger. For many applications of graphene, large-area high-quality(ideally of single-crystal) material will be enabling. Since the first growth on copper foil a decade ago, inch-sized single-crystal graphene has been achieved. We present here the growth, in 20 min, of a graphene film of(5 ×50) cm^2 dimension with >99% ultra-highly oriented *** growth was achieved by:(1) synthesis of metre-sized single-crystal Cu(1 1 1) foil as substrate;(2)epitaxial growth of graphene islands on the Cu(1 1 1) surface;(3) seamless merging of such graphene islands into a graphene film with high single crystallinity and(4) the ultrafast growth of graphene *** achievements were realized by a temperature-gradient-driven annealing technique to produce single-crystal Cu(1 1 1) from industrial polycrystalline Cu foil and the marvellous effects of a continuous oxygen supply from an adjacent oxide. The as-synthesized graphene film, with very few misoriented grains(if any), has a mobility up to ~23,000 cm^2 V^(-1)s^(-1)at 4 K and room temperature sheet resistance of ~230 Ω/□. It is very likely that this approach can be scaled up to achieve exceptionally large and high-quality graphene films with single crystallinity, and thus realize various industrial-level applications at a low cost.

Development of a novel in vivo lung perfusion(IVLP)procedure allows localized delivery of high-dose doxorubicin(DOX)for targeting residual micrometastatic disease in the ***,DOX delivery via IVLP requires careful monitoring of drug level to ensure tissue concentrations of this agent remain in the therapeutic window.A small dimension nitinol wire coated with a sorbent of biocompatible morphology(Bio-SPME)has been clinically evaluated for in vivo lung tissue extraction and determination of DOX and its key *** in vivo Bio-SPME-IVLP experiments were performed on pig model over various(150 and 225 mg/m^(2))drug doses,and during human clinical *** patients with metastatic osteosarcoma were treated with a single 5 and 7 μg/mL(respectively)dose of DOX during a 3-h *** both pig and human cases,DOX tissue levels presented similar trends during *** lung tissue concentrations of drug ranged between 15 and 293 μg/g over the course of the IVLP *** addition to DOX levels,Bio-SPME followed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis generated 64 metabolic features during endogenous metabolite screening,providing information about lung status during drug ***-time monitoring of DOX levels in the lungs can be performed effectively throughout the IVLP procedure by in vivo Bio-SPME chemical biopsy ***-SPME also extracted various endogenous molecules,thus providing a real-time snapshot of the physiology of the cells,which might assist in the tailoring of personalized treatment strategy.

Petrology,genesis and geodynamic implication of the Mesoproterozoic-Late Cretaceous Timmasamudram kimberlite cluster,Wajrakarur field,Eastern Dharwar Craton,southern India

New mineralogical and bulk-rock geochemical data for the recently recognised Mesoproterozoic （ca. 1100 Ma） and late Cretaceous （ca. 90 Ma） kimberlites in the Timmasamudram cluster （TKC） of the Wajrakarur kimberlite field （WKF）, Eastern Dbarwar Craton, southern India, are presented. On the basis of groundmass mineral chemistry （phlogopite, spinel, perovskite and clinopyroxene）, bulk-rock chem- istry （SiO2, K20, low TiO2, Ba/Nb and La/Sm）, and perovskite Nd isotopic compositions, the TI（-1 （mac- rocrystic variety） and TI（-4 （Macrocrystic variety） kimberlites in this cluster are here classified as orangeites （i.e. Group II kimberlites）, with geochemical characteristics that are very similar to orangeites previously described from the Bastar Craton in central India, as well as the Kaapvaal Craton in South Africa. The remaining kimberlites （e.g., TK-2, TK-3 and the TK-1 microcrystic variant）, are more similar to other 1100 Ma, Group l-type kimberlites of the Eastern Dharwar Craton, as well as the typical Group I kimberlites of the Kaapvaal Craton. Through the application of geochemical modelling, based on pub- lished carbonated peridotite/melt trace element partition coefficients, we show that the generation of the TI（C kimberlites and the orangeites results from low degrees of partial melting of a metasomatised, carbonated peridotite. Depleted mantle （TDM） Nd perovskite model ages of the 1100 Ma Timmasamudram kimberlites show that the metasomatic enrichment of their source regions are broadly similar to that of the Meso- proterozoic kimberlites of the EDC. The younger, late Cretaceous （ca. 90 Ma） TI（-1 （macrocrystic variant） and TK-4 kimberlites, as well as the orangeites from the 8astar Craton, share similar Nd model ages of 1100 Ma, consistent with a similarity in the timing of source enrichment during the amalgamation of Rodinia supercontinent. Metal-air batteries face a great challenge in developing efficient and durable low-cost oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)***-atom iron catalysts embedded into nitrogen doped carbon(Fe-N-C)have emerged as attractive materials for potential replacement of Pt in ORR,but their catalytic performance was limited by the symmetrical electronic structure distribution around the single-atom Fe ***,we report our findings in significantly enhancing the ORR performance of Fe-N-C by moderate Fe_(2)O_(3) integration via the strong electronic ***,the optimized catalyst(M-Fe_(2)O_(3)/Fe_(SA)@NC)exhibits excellent activity,durability and good tolerance to methanol,outperforming the benchmark Pt/C *** M-Fe_(2)O_(3)/Fe_(SA)@NC catalyst was used in a practical zinc-air battery assembly,peak power density of 155 mW cm^(-2)and specific capacity of 762 mA h g_(Zn)^(-1)were achieved and the battery assembly has shown superior cycling stability over a period of 200 *** importantly,theoretical studies suggest that the introduction of Fe_(2)O_(3) can evoke the crystal field alteration and electron redistribution on single Fe atoms,which can break the symmetric charge distribution of Fe-N_(4) and thereby optimize the corresponding adsorption energy of intermediates to promote the O_(2)*** study provides a new pathway to promote the catalytic performance of single-atom catalysts.

A comparison of the ballistic behaviour of conventionally sintered and additively manufactured alumina

Strigolactones have recently been implicated in both above- and below-ground developmental pathways in higher plants. To facilitate the molecular and chemical properties of strigolactones in vitro and in vivo, we have devel- oped a fluorescent strigolactone molecule, CISA-1, synthesized via a novel method which was robust, high-yielding, and used simple starting materials. We demonstrate that CISA-1 has a broad range of known strigolactone activities and further report on an adventitious rooting assay in Arabidopsis which is a highly sensitive and rapid method for testing biological activity of strigolactone analogs. In this rooting assay and the widely used Orobanche germination assay, CISA-1 showed stronger biological activity than the commonly tested GR24. CISA-1 and GR24 were equally effective at inhibiting branching in Arabidopsis inflorescence stems. In both the branching and adventitious rooting assay, we also demonstrated that CISA-1 activity is dependent on the max strigolactone signaling pathway. In water methanol solu- tions, CISA-1 was about threefold more stable than GR24, which may contribute to the increased activity observed in the various biological tests.

Molecular dynamics （MD） computer simulation techniques, as a powerful tool commonly utilized by the liquid crystal display （LCD） community, usually are employed for computing the equilibrium and transport properties of a classical many body system, since they are very similar to real experiments in many respects. In this paper we pre- sent molecular dynamics computer simulation results taken for a mixture of the two different kinds of nematic liq- uid crystals （LCs）. We calculated rotational viscosity from Brownian behavior with friction of the mean director of the mixture comprising pentylcyanobiphenol （5CB） and decylcyanobiphenol （10CB） by using molecular dynamics computer simulation, where intermolecular potential parameter is Generalized AMBER force field （GAFF）. Our computed results show a good agreement with the experimental results.
