Aims: The value of ECG in the perioperative risk stratification under modern treatment options is uncertain. The main objective of the present analysis was to determine the usefulness of a pre-operative ECG derivation for evaluating the risk of perioperative morbidity and mortality. Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of the prospective, international, multicenter, observational “No-risk” Study (N-terminal B-type natriuretic peptide [NT-proBNP] for the assessment of the perioperative cardiac risk after major noncardiac surgery) to determine the prognostic value of 12-lead ECG. Inclusion criteria were age >55 years and at least one of the following cardiovascular risk factors: arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, active smoking, and family history positive for coronary heart disease. The combined primary endpoint included total mortality, acute myocardial infarction (NSTEMI and STEMI), cardiopulmonary resuscitation, heart failure, and asystole or ventricular fibrillation during hospitalization. ECGs from 616 patients enrolled from 2006 to 2009 prior to noncardiac surgery in the No-risk Study were analyzed. results: The mean age was 67.6 (±8.1) years;300 (48.7%) patients were male. Fourteen (2.3%) patients suffered from the combined primary endpoint while in the hospital. In Kaplan-Meier analyses, a pathologic Q wave and QTc > 500 ms were significantly related to the incidence of the primary endpoint (p p = 0.042, respectively), whereas other ECG parameters such as LBBB, rBBB, PQ interval, QrS interval, and others were not related to worse in-hospital outcome. Conclusion: The 12-lead ECG is still an important diagnostic tool for perioperative risk assessment of cardiovascular events in noncardiac surgery in patients at risk.

In 2002, the Vienna Cancer Stem Cell Club （VCSCC） was inaugurated by a group of scientists at the Medical University of Vienna, with the primary goal to initiate and promote cancer stem cell （CSC） research in Austria and to exploit knowledge from this new discipline in translational approaches, During the first years following inauguration, the VCSCC-community was small and left without major funding. However, over time the consortium was able to launch several major project-lines, supported in part by the National Science Funds, a Genome Program, and the Ludwig-Boltzmann Society. Today, the VCSCC provides a robust intellectual platform for ongoing research in the field of translational oncology and CSC-research in Austria. In addition, the VCSCC is connected to several major CSC-networks and centers in Europe and in North America, and is a well-recognized group in the field. The VCSCC also organized a series of CSC Meetings and Conferences, and contributed essentially to a recently published classification of CSC. There is also hope that the VCSCC-consortium will further advance the field of CSC research in the future, and will create novel concepts, with the ultimate aim to improve anti-cancer therapy through elimination, suppression, or long-term control of cancer-initiating cells.

Knowledge of the clinical and biological profile of patients infected with HIV and hepatitis B and/or C is essential in order to identify and implement effective management strategies. Methods: This was a retrospective descriptive study from January 01, 2016 to June 01, 2021. Adult patients aged at least 18 years infected with HIV type 1 and/or 2, na?ve to ArV treatment. Univariate analyses were assessed using Pearson’s Chi2 test. The Student Newman test was used for comparison between groups using r software version 4.0.2. Objective: To draw up the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical and evolutionary profiles of HIV-treated-patients in relation to HIV/HBV and HIV/HCV co-infections in order to allow the identification and the implementation of effective management strategies. results: Of the 379 patients included 280 (73.88%) were women. At treatment initiation, the mean age was 40.14 ± 11.84 years. The majority of patients consulted at WHO stage iii (51.45%). Clinical suspicion was the most frequent screening circumstance (51.71%). The pathologies frequently reported at the first consultation were diarrhea (28%) and shingles (16%). Body mass index was normal in 50.5% of patients. HIV1 infection was the majority (91.03%). A total of 270 had a CD4 count at treatment initiation. The mean CD4 cell count was 304.17 ± 242.06 cells/μL, and 116 (42.59%) of them had a CD4 ≤ 200 cells/μL. Viral load at treatment initiation was documented in 62 patients (16.35%) and 70.97% of them had a detectable viral load (greater than 1000 copies/mL). The clinical and biological evolution was relatively good in patients after therapeutic initiation. HIV-HBV co-infection was 24.11% and HIV-HCV co-infection was 2.26%. The mortality rate was 3.69%. Conclusion: These results reflect a significant delay in HIV infection diagnosis. Furthermore, hepatitis B and/or C is co-infections that increasingly affect people living with HIV. Magnesium(Mg)–based alloys are becoming attractive materials for medical applications as temporary bone implants for support of fracture healing,*** a suture *** to their mechanical properties and biocompatibility,they may replace titanium or stainless-steel implants,commonly used in orthopedic ***,patient safety has to be assured by finding a long-term balance between metal degradation,osseointegration,bone ultrastructure adaptation and element distribution in *** order to determine the implant behavior and its influence on bone and tissues,we investigated two Mg alloys with gadolinium contents of 5 and 10 wt percent in comparison to permanent materials titanium and polyether ether *** implants were present in rat tibia for 10,20 and 32 weeks before sacrifice of the *** radiation-based micro computed tomography enables the distinction of features like residual metal,degradation layer and bone ***,X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence yield information on parameters describing the bone ultrastructure and elemental composition at the bone-to-implant ***,with element specific mass spectrometry,the elements and their accumulation in the main organs and tissues are *** results show that Mg-xGd implants degrade in vivo under the formation of a stable degradation layer with bone remodeling similar to that of Ti after 10 *** accumulation of Mg and Gd was observed in selected organs,except for the interfacial bone after 8 months of ***,we confirm that Mg-5Gd and Mg-10Gd are suitable material choices for bone implants.

Aim:To develop a comprehensive item library of patient-reported,immunotherapy-related adverse events(irAEs)that draws from and expands on the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy(FACIT)Measurement ***:Literature review and iterative expert *** on a literature review of irAEs,we developed a framework of immunotherapy classes and their associated *** experts then reviewed iterations of symptom summaries and item maps linked to the immunotherapy *** provided content review and feedback was shared across experts until consensus was *** iterative process facilitated creation of a Primary Symptom List associated with immune checkpoint modulators(ICMs),drawn from the larger set of *** FACIT items were mapped to the symptom list,and new items were written as needed to create the item ***:The full item library of irAEs is comprised of 239 items,covering 142 unique symptoms across 75 inflammatory reactions/immune conditions.A subset of 66 items comprises a Primary Symptom List considered most common/relevant to ICM *** includes gastrointestinal,skin,pulmonary,neurologic,musculoskeletal,and multiple miscellaneous and constitutional ***:The FACIT Immunotherapy Item Library is a compilation of 239 self-report items that capture the wide range of AEs experienced by people receiving immune treatments.A subset of 66 items comprises a Primary Symptom List meant for ICM *** of items selected from this library is encouraged in clinical research and clinical practice evaluation.

JUNO is a multi-purpose neutrino observatory under construction in the south of *** publication presents new sensitivity estimates for the measurement of the △m_(31)^(2),△m_(21)^(2),sin^(2)θ_(12),and sin^(2)θ_(13) oscillation parameters using reactor antineutrinos,which is one of the primary physics goals of the *** sensitivities are obtained using the best knowledge available to date on the location and overburden of the experimental site,the nuclear reactors in the surrounding area and beyond,the detector response uncertainties,and the reactor antineutrino spectral shape constraints expected from the TAO satellite *** is found that the △m_(21)^(2) and sin^(2)θ_(12) oscillation parameters will be determined to 0.5%precision or better in six years of data *** the same period,the △m_(31)^(2) parameter will be determined to about 0.2%precision for each mass ordering *** new precision represents approximately an order of magnitude improvement over existing constraints for these three parameters.
