BACKGROUND： In order to study the pathogenesis of iron-induced posttraumatic epilepsy （PTE）, foreign scholars have established several kinds of PTE animal models, among which, the iron- induced PTE animal models proposed by Willmore is the most famous. The iron-induced PTE animal models can be established by two methods： one is cortical ferric chloride injection （CFCI） and the other one is pial iontophoresis of ferric chloride （PIFC）. Because Willmore did not give out the elaboration of the behaviors and electroencephalograms （EEGs） of the iron induced PTE animal models established by these two methods, so we have known little about these animal models. OBJECTIVE： To observe the behaviors and EEGs of the iron-induced PTE animal models established by PIFC and CFCI, in order to compare the differences and the study value of these two methods. DESIGN： Qualitative controlled observation tria SETTING： department of Neurosurgery, Urumqi General Hospital, Lanzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA. MATERIALS： Forty healthy adult male SD rats, weighing 200 to 250 g, were involved in this experiment. Reagents and instruments： Ferric chloride （FeCl3·6H2O, Sigma USA）, rat stereotaxic apparatus （ASI company, USA）, the wireless blue tooth electroencephlograms recording system （Nuocheng electric ***, Shanghai）, a set of air turbine dental drill unit, dental base acrylic resin powder, microinjector （50 μL）, amperemeter （1 mA）, a pair of batteries, electric resistance （200 kΩ） , variable resistance （100 kΩ）, tubule with endo-meridians of 2 mm （used as import tube）, several silver wire segments and several acupuncture needles were employed in this study. METHODS： This study was carried out in the Experimental Animal Center of the Urumqi General Hospital, Lanzhou Military Area Command of Chinese PLA between November 2004 and April 2005. Background:The mortality of cardiovascular disease is constantly rising,and novel biomarkers help us predict residual *** study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of serum homocysteine (HCY) levels on prognosis in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).Methods:The 419 consecutive patients with STEMI,treated at one medical center,from March 2010 to December 2015 were retrospectively *** blood samples were obtained within 24 h of admission and HCY concentrations were measured using an enzymatic cycling *** patients were divided into high HCY level (H-HCY) and low HCY level (L-HCY) ***- and long-term outcomes were compared,as were age-based subgroups (patients aged 60 years and younger *** older than 60 years).Statistical analyses were mainly conducted by Student t-test,Chi-squared test,logistic regression,and Cox proportional-hazards ***:The H-HCY group had more males (84.6% vs.75.4%,P=0.018),and a lower prevalence of diabetes (20.2% vs.35.5%,P<0.001),compared with the L-HCY *** hospitalization,there were seven mortalities in the L-HCY group and 10 in the H-HCY group (3.3% vs.4.8%,P= 0.440).During the median follow-up period of 35.8 (26.9–46.1) months,33 (16.2%) patients in the L-HCY group and 48 (24.2%) in the H-HCY group experienced major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE)(P=0.120).History of hypertension (hazard ratio [HR]:1.881,95% confidence interval [CI]:1.178–3.005,P=0.008) and higher Killip class (HR:1.923,95% CI:1.419–2.607,P<0.001),but not HCY levels (HR:1.007,95% CI:0.987–1.027,P=0.507),were significantly associated with long-term ***,the subgroup analysis indicated that in older patients,HCY levels were significantly associated with long-term outcomes (HR:1.036,95% CI:1.011–1.062,P=0.005).Conclusion:Serum HCY levels did not independently predict in-hospital or long-term outcomes in patients with STEMI;however,among elderly

AIM： To study the levels of serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 （sICAM-1）, plasma D-lactate and diamine oxidase （DAO） in patients with inflammatory bowel disease （IBD）, and the potential clinical significance. METHODS： Sixty-nine patients with IBD and 30 healthy controls were included in this study. The concentration of sICAM-1 was detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, the level of D-lactate and DAO was measured by spectroscopic analysis, and the number of white blood cells （WBC） was determined by routine procedure. RESULTS： The levels of sICAM-I, DAO, and WBC in IBD patients were significantly higher than those in the control group （P 〈 0,01）, sICAM-I in IBD patients was found to be closely related to the levels of DAO and D-lactate （212.94 ± 69.89 vs 6.35 ± 2.35, P = 0.000）, DAO 212.94 ± 69.89 vs 8.65 ± 3.54, P = 0.000） and WBC （212.94 ± 69.89 vs 7.40 ± 2.61, P = 0.000）, but no significant difference was observed between patients with ulcerative colitis and patients with Crohn＇s disease. The post-treatment levels of sICAM-I, D-lactate and WBC were significantly lower than before treatment （sICAM-I 206.57 ± 79.21 vs 146.21 ± 64.43, P = 0.000）, （D-lactate 1.46 ± 0.94 vs 0.52± 0.32, P = 0.000） and （WBC 7.24 ± 0.2.33 vs 5.21 ± 3.21, P = 0.000）. CONCLUSION： sICAM-1, D-lactate and DAO are closely related to the specific conditions of IBD, and thus could be used as a major diagnostic index.

Dear Editor,Te Veterans Health Administration(VHA)provides healthcare for over 9 million enrolled veterans with approximately 2.7 million of those residing in rural areas[1].Te MISSION Act of 2018 emphasizes VHA collaboration with Federally Qualifed Healthcare Centers(FQHC)to serve rural residing veterans and nearly all existing collaborations involve arrangement of payment for community-based care by VHA to ***,there is a paucity of descriptive clinical data on existing cross-system collaborations which may help characterize these veterans and aid understanding of conditions for which they may receive treatment across *** data has implications for workforce training,development,and resource allocation[2].Te objective of this report is to describe diferent clinical profles between two mutually exclusive samples:veterans engaged in FQHC only use,and VHA-enrolled veterans engaged in dual VHA and FQHC use.

目的研究复方灵芝孢子精油软胶囊抗疲劳、增强免疫力的药理作用。方法昆明种小鼠随机分为5组,分别为复方灵芝孢子精油软胶囊（FFLZB）低、中、高（385、770、1540 mg·Kg-1）3个剂量组、对照药红参醇提物组、空白对照组,灌胃给药14天后考察各组小鼠爬杆时间及爬杆后血清肌酸激酶（CK酶）、三磷酸腺苷（ATP）含量,同时采用免疫脏器指数法、碳粒廓清法、足趾增厚法测定迟发型变态反应（DTH）,考察FFLZB对小鼠免疫功能的影响。结果 FFLZB（385、770、1540 mg·Kg-1）3个剂量组能不同程度的延长小鼠爬杆时间,770、1540 mg·Kg-1两剂量组能显著提高小鼠爬杆后血清ATP水平,仅385 mg·Kg-1剂量组能使爬杆后小鼠血清CK酶水平显著提高,同时相比空白对照组FFLZB 3个剂量组能不同程度的抑制小鼠免疫器官脏器指数的下降、提高碳粒廓清指数水平及24、48小时迟发型变态反应程度。结论复方灵芝孢子精油软胶囊具有抗疲劳及增强免疫力作用,是一种有效的抗疲劳复方中药制剂。

[Objective] The experiment was conducted to investigate the growth performance of graze cattle fed on non-protein nitrogen （NPN） supplement. [ Method] The experiment was conducted in late spring and early summer before grazing. Thirty Chinese SimmentaI-Taihang taxa bulls at the age of 9-10 months weighing 150-170 kg were divided into the control group, experimental group 1 and experimental group 2, 10 in each group, Each cattle in the experimental group 1 fed on the basal diet supplemented 1.0 kg cornmeal every day. Each cattle in the experimental group 2 fed on the basal diet supplemented 1.0 kg cornmeal and 0.25 kg NPN supplement every day. Those in the control group were fed on the basal di- et. The experiment was performed for 100 d. [Result] The average daily gain of the experimental group I was 217 g larger than that of the control group, while the average daily gain of the experimental group 2 was 429 g larger than that of the control group. The differences in the average daily gain were significant between the three groups. [ Conclusion ] The growth performance of cattle grazed in northern slopes was obviously improved by supplementing a small amount of concentrate in feed. The improvement was more remarkable if a small amount of NPN supplement was also added in feed.
