HA/TCP and HA rods （φ5 mm×10 mm） were made for implantation in New Zealand white rabbit with different condition. Sixty three rabbit were divided into three groups： group 1 （n=18）, group 2 （n=27） and group 3 （n=18）. In group 1, 10 mm radius was defected, and one HA/TCP rod was implanted in the muscle a distant away from the bone defect area. In group 2, also, 10 mm radius was defected, one HA rod was implanted in the muscle a distant away from the bone defect area. In group 3, two HA/TCP rods were implanted in the dorsal muscle of the rabbit with bone intact. Histological observation showed that in group 1, some new bone was found only two months after implantation （n=2）, and obvious immature woven bone could be observed in these bioceramics from the 3rd month on. However, in group 3, bone began to be found 6 months after implantation （n=2）. In group 2, we could not find any bone tissue up to 9 month’s observation. These results suggest that, first, the bone defect model could significantly accelerate bone formation at non-osseous sites in rabbits; second,. HA/TCP bioceramics were confirmed with osteoinductive property while HA bioceramics without osteoinductive property nearly. Thus, bone defect might be a good animal model for further researches for osteoinductive bioceramics.

Objective:To investigate the expression and the regulation effect of cell growth of microRNA-577 in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:qRT-PCR was applied to detect the relative expression of miR-577 in 70 paired HCC and matched tumor adjacent tissues collecting from resection between March 2011 and March *** chi-square test was used to analyze the relationship between the miR-577 expression and clinical *** miR-577 mimics were transfected into HepG2 cells:cell cycles were detected by flow cytometry,cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay and BrdU incorporation assay,and cell apoptosis was determined by flow cytometry and Caspase 3/7 activity *** expressions ofβ-catenin were measured by *** correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between miR-577 and ***-PCR and westernblot were used to detect the expression of p-catenin in transfected HepG2 ***:The relative expressions of miR-577 was significantly lower in HCC tissues compared to the matched normal tumor-adjacent tissues(P<0.05).Low expression of miR-577 was significantly associated with large tumor size(≥5 cm,P<0.05) and advanced tumor node metastasis stage(Ⅲ+Ⅳ,P<0.05).Transfection of miR-577 mimics could inhibit repress cell proliferation,enhance cell apoptosis and block the cell cycles in G_1/G_1 phase(P<0.05).miR-577 in HCC group had a significant negative correlation relationship with the expression of downstream target of β-catenin(P<0.05).Both the mRNA and protein expression in HepG2 cells were down-regulated after transfection(P<0.05).Conclusions:Low expression of miR-577 is related to the malignant clinicopathological features in HCC tissues,and miR-577 may suppress HCC growth through down-regulating p-catenin.

Upper gastrointestinal cancer burden in Hebei Province, China: A population-based study

AIM To investigate the incidence and mortality rates of upper gastrointestinal cancer(UGIC) in Hebei Province, China, and to identify high-risk populations to improve UGIC prevention and *** Data for UGIC patients were collected from 21 population-based cancer registries covering 15.25% of the population in Hebei Province. Mortality data were extracted from three national retrospective death surveys(1973-1975, 1990-1992 and 2004-2005). The data were stratified by 5-year age groups, gender and area(high-risk/non-high-risk areas) for analysis. The age-period-cohort and grey system model were *** The crude incidence rate of UGIC was 55.47/100000, and the adjusted rate(Segi's population) was 44.90/100000. Males in rural areas had the highest incidence rate(world age-standardized rate = 87.89/100000). The crude mortality rate of UGIC displayed a decreasing trend in Hebei Province from the 1970 s to 2013, and the adjusted rate decreased by 43.81% from the 1970s(58.07/100000) to 2013(32.63/100000). The mortality rate declined more significantly in the high-risk areas(57.26%) than in the non-high-risk areas(55.02%) from the 1970 s to 2013. The median age at diagnosis of UGIC was 65.06 years in 2013. There was a notable delay in the median age at death from the 1970s(66.15 years) to 2013(70.39 years), especially in the high-risk areas. In Cixian, the total trend of the cohort effect declined, and people aged 65-69 years were a population at relatively high risk for UGIC. We predicted that the crude mortality rates of UGIC in Cixian and Shexian would decrease to 98.80 and 133.99 per 100000 in 2018, *** UGIC was the major cause of cancer death in Hebei Province, and males in rural areas were a high-risk population. We should strengthen early detection and treatment of UGIC in this population.
