Radiology education and training is of paramount clinical importance given the prominence of medical imaging utilization in effective clinical *** incorporation of basic radiology in the medical curriculum has continued to evolve,focusing on teaching image interpretation skills,the appropriate ordering of radiological investigations,judicious use of ionizing radiation,and providing exposure to interventional *** in radiology have been driven by the digital revolution,which has,in turn,had a positive impact on radiology education and *** the advent of the corona virus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,many training institutions and hospitals adhered to directives which advised rescheduling of non-urgent outpatient *** inevitably impacted the workflow of the radiology department,which resulted in the reduction of clinical in-person case reviews and consultations,as well as in-person teaching *** medical schools and research centers completely suspended face-to-face academic *** led to challenges for medical teachers to complete the radiology syllabus while ensuring that teaching activities continued safely and *** a result,online teaching platforms have virtually replaced didactic face-to-face *** educators also sought other strategies to incorporate interactive teaching sessions while adopting the e-learning approach,as they were cognizant of the limitations that this may have on students’clinical *** to online methods to review live cases,journal clubs,simulation-based training,clinical interaction,and radiology examination protocolling are a few examples of successfully addressing the limitations in reduced clinical *** this review paper,we discuss(1)The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on radiology education,training,and practice;(2)Challenges and strategies involved in delivering online radiology education for undergraduates and postgraduates d

According to the Energy Information Administration, average retail gasoline prices tend to typically be higher in certain states than in others. Aside from taxes, the factors shown to contribute to regional and even local differences in gasoline prices include proximity of supply, supply disruptions, competition in the local market and environmental programs. Of interest in this paper is proximity of supply. It has been hypothesized that areas farthest from the Gulf Coast （the source of nearly half of the gasoline produced in the United States and, thus, a major supplier to the rest of the country） tend to have higher prices. To test this hypothesis, the paper assembles state level monthly retail gasoline data for the period 1983 to 2007 for five states with oil refineries （Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana） and five states without refineries （Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida）. The analysis employs dynamic correlation, regression, cointegration and vector autoregressive methods. Overall, the results show that retail gas prices in states with refineries and those without refineries tend to move in the same direction over time. The small differences observed over time may suggest that price shocks take a short time to be felt nationwide.

Cacao(Theobroma cacao L.)is an important Neotropical crop originating in South America and dispersed by European explorers,arriving in Madagascar in the late 19th *** Madagascar is an important producer of cocoa for the premium chocolate market,the varietal composition and genetic diversity in cacao germplasm from Madagascar,especially in traditional cacao farms,remains unknown.A total of 190 cacao accessions,including 40 farmer accessions collected from traditional cacao farms in Madagascar,and 150 accessions representing seven reference cacao populations,were analyzed using Single Nucleotide Polymorphism(SNP)*** analysis and Bayesian stratification resulted in the clustering of the 40 farmer accessions into three groups:Criollo,Amelonado and *** three traditional varieties were commonly cultivated in tropical America in the 18th century,but most of them have been replaced by improved *** present study demonstrated that Madagascar is distinctive in that all three traditional cacao varieties,Criollo,Amelonado and Trinitario,are still maintained on-farm for cocoa production,as in Mesoamerica and the Caribbean several hundred years *** from the present study are significant in terms of understanding the early dispersal of cacao from tropical America and Asia to Africa,in addition to the well-documented route from Brazil to São Tomé&Prí*** results also provide new information for planning future conservation and utilization of cacao germplasm in Madagascar.

Cost overrun is a common problem in construction projects *** Indian construction projects,particularly those involving high-rise buildings,have had severe cost *** managers,architects,engineers,and contractors,completing building projects within the specified cost budget has become the most important and hard *** it is common for high-rise building projects to go over budget,the aim of this study is to find out the causes of cost overruns and provide effective *** study found 70 cost overrun factors based on a comprehensive literature review and expert opinions.A Google form questionnaire was distributed to 150 construction professionals across *** following up,101 of the 150 responses were received.A five-point Likert scale was used and the acquired data was analyzed and ranked using the Relative Importance Index(RII)*** to the findings of RII,the top ten critical factors influencing cost overruns were frequent change orders during construction by the owner,delay in construction,escalation of material prices,market inflation or deflation,rework,frequent changes in design,inaccurate evaluation of the project timeline,unforeseen ground condition,inaccurate quantity take-off,and delay in progressive payment by the ***’s rank correlation test revealed that there is a very significant relationship between the rankings of factors provided by the owner,the consultant,and the *** addition,a factor analysis tool in the SPSS software was also used to categorize the seventy factors into sixteen core *** top ten critical factors were presented to subject matter experts,and their suggestions were being *** results are expected to help construction professionals minimize cost overruns,improve cost control measures,and initiate future research.

Diabetes-related amputation rates are high in the Caribbean. Many authorities have identified independent risk factors for diabetes-related amputations, but cultural factors remain underappreciated. We coined the term “Caribbean substitution culture” to describe the attitude of patients with diabetic foot infections in which they refuse to access medical care, instead voluntarily choosing to substitute “bush medicines” or other alternative therapies in the place of conventional treatment. Recognizing that the Caribbean substitution culture is a barrier to effective treatment of diabetic foot infections is the first step in curbing these practices. In this paper, we discuss the issues related to the Caribbean substitution culture, including the demographics of the population at risk, the alternative therapeutic practices and potential public health strategies to combat this practice.

Neurosurgery for psychiatric disorders, notably for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), was initiated in Venezuela in the decade of 1970, and consisted since that time in the classic stereotactic anterior cingulotomy. In order to know further about the physiopathology of this disorder, we performed intracerebral microdialysis in 2 patients who were operated on. The aim was to measure changes in extracellular neurotransmitters within the basal ganglia. The microdialysis probes were stereotactically placed in the right caudate nucleus and in the dorsomedial nucleus of the right thalamus. The microdialysis was done before the left cingulotomy, during the pause and after the right cingulotomy. Glutamate and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) changes were similar in the caudate nucleus of both patients, whereas in the dorsomedial nucleus the changes were opposite among the 2 patients. Although this study does not bring enough data to explain such differences yet, the existence of dynamic changes in the neurochemistry of the basal ganglia during cingulotomy shows that intracerebral microdialysis can help in the understanding of the pathophysiology of OCD and eventually in the design of new surgeries with better results.

Seaweed is an enormous resource comprised with natural bioactive compounds with several therapeutic effects including anticancer *** this context,the biochemical composition of seaweed plays a major *** biochemical compounds isolated from seaweed,fractions of seaweed and crude extracts has revealed ability of seaweed to fight against several cancer *** this contrast seaweed extracts inhibit cancer cell growth and proliferation by inducing apoptosis and by inhibiting metastasis *** this review,biochemical and anticancer properties of seaweeds are discussed and this will provide the basic information to develop a novel chemotherapeutic drug to challenge the cancers.

Hepatitis C virus（HCV）-specific CD8^＋ T cells play an important role in the resolution of HCV infection. Nevertheless, during chronic hepatitis C these cells lack their effector functions and fail to control the virus. HCV has developed several mechanisms to escape immune control. One of these strategies is the upregulation of negative co-stimulatory molecules such us programmed death-1 （PD-1）. This molecule is upregulated on intrahepatic and peripheral HCV-specific cytotoxic T cells during acute and chronic phases of the disease, whereas PD-1 expression is low in resolved infection. PD-1 expressing HCV-specific CD8^＋ T cells are exhausted with impairment of several effector mechanisms, such as： type-1 cytokine production, expansion ability after antigen encounter and cytotoxic ability. However, PD-1 associated exhaustion can be restored by blocking the interaction between PD-1 and its ligand （PD-L1）. After this blockade, HCV-specific CD8^＋ T cells reacquire their functionality. Nevertheless, functional restoration depends on PD-1 expression level. High PD-l-expressing intrahepatic HCV-specific CD8^＋ T cells do not restore their effector abilities after PD-1/ PD-L1 blockade. The mechanisms by which HCV is able to induce PD-1 up-regulation to escape immune control are unknown. Persistent TCR stimulation by a high level of HCV antigens could favour early PD-1 induction, but the interaction between HCV core protein and gClq receptor could also participate in this process. The PD-1/PD-L1 pathway modulation could be a therapeutic strategy, in conjunction with the regulation of others co-stimulatory pathways, in order to restore immune response aclainst HCV to succeed in clearing the infection.
