The paleoenvironment of shales can be reconstructed to some extent using the combinations or concentrations of elements that correlate strongly with environmental *** this study,we analyzed rare earth elements(REEs),major elements,and trace elements in the marine-continental transitional shales(transitional shales for short)of the Shan 2^(3)submember of the Shanxi Formation in the southeastern Ordos *** purpose is to deduce the paleoenvironmental conditions of the shales,encompassing paleoredox,paleoclimate,paleoproductivity,and *** Shan 2^(3)submember comprises four sections,namely Shan 2^(3)-1,Shan 2^(3)-2,Shan 2^(3)-3,and Shan 2^(3)-*** Ba/Al,P/Al,and Cu/Al ratios,along with biogenic barium(Babio),indicate that the paleoproductivity of the submember peaked during the Shan 2^(3)-1 deposition and exhibited a downtrend upward in other *** in the Uau and the Ni/Co,V/Cr,U/Th,and V/Sc ratios suggest that suboxic conditions prevailed during the Shan 2^(3)-1 deposition,with the oxidation level gradually increasing from Shan 2^(3)-1 to Shan 2^(3)-4.C-value and the Sr/Cu ***/Rb cross-plot indicate a warm and arid paleoclimate during the Shan 2^(3)-1 deposition,which transitioned to cooler,drier conditions during the deposition of other *** sensitive to paleoclimate,such as the K/Rb and Th/U ratios,along with the ICV,PIA,and Chemical Index of Alteration(CIA),highlight elevated weathering from Shan 2^(3)-2 to Shan 2^(3)-4,with Shan 2^(3)-1 exhibiting the weakest weathering during its *** suggested by the REE data,the Zr/Sc ***/Sr cross-plot,provenance discriminant functions,and the cross-plots of Hf ***/Th,Th ***-Co,and∑REE ***/Yb,the sedimentary provenance for the transitional shales of the Shan 2^(3)submember is of multiple origins,with significant contributions from the Upper Continental Crust(UCC).Discriminant diagrams,including those of Th-Co-Zr/10,Th-Sc-Zr/10,La-Th-Sc,and K_(2)O/Na_(2)O

Auto-tuning PVT data using multi-objective optimization:Application of NSGA-II algorithm

reservoir simulation is known as perhaps the most widely used,accurate,and reliable method for field development in the petroleum *** integral part of a reliable reservoir simulation process is to consider robust and rigorous tuned EOS ***,EOS models are tuned iteratively through arduous workflows against experimental PVT ***,this comes with a number of drawbacks such as forcingly using weight factors,which upon alteration adversely affects the optimization *** objective of the current work is thus to introduce an auto-tune PVT matching tool using NSGA-II multi-objective *** order to illustrate the robustness of the presented technique,three different PVT samples are used,including two black-oil and one gas condensate *** utilize PengRobinson EOS during all the manual and auto-tuning *** of auto-tuned EOS-generated results with those of experimental and computed statistical error values for these samples clearly show that the proposed method is *** addition,the proposed method,contrary to the manual matching process,provides the engineer with several matched solutions,which allows them to select a match based on the engineering background to be best amenable to the problem at *** addition,the proposed technique is fast,and can output several solutions within less time compared to the traditional manual matching method.

Geostatistical seismic inversion and 3D modelling of metric flow units,porosity and permeability in Brazilian presalt reservoir

Flow units(FU)rock typing is a common technique for characterizing reservoir flow behavior,producing reliable porosity and permeability estimation even in complex geological ***,the lateral extrapolation of FU away from the well into the whole reservoir grid is commonly a difficult task and using the seismic data as constraints is rarely a subject of *** paper proposes a workflow to generate numerous possible 3D volumes of flow units,porosity and permeability below the seismic resolution limit,respecting the available seismic data at larger *** methodology is used in the Mero Field,a Brazilian presalt carbonate reservoir located in the Santos Basin,who presents a complex and heterogenic geological setting with different sedimentological processes and diagenetic *** generated metric flow units using the conventional core analysis and transposed to the well log ***,given a Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm,the seismic data and the well log statistics,we simulated acoustic impedance,decametric flow units(DFU),metric flow units(MFU),porosity and permeability volumes in the metric *** aim is to estimate a minimum amount of MFU able to calculate realistic scenarios porosity and permeability scenarios,without losing the seismic lateral *** other words,every porosity and permeability volume simulated produces a synthetic seismic that match the real seismic of the area,even in the metric *** achieved 3D results represent a high-resolution fluid flow reservoir modelling considering the lateral control of the seismic during the process and can be directly incorporated in the dynamic characterization workflow.

Application of the CatBoost Model for Stirred Reactor State Monitoring Based on Vibration Signals

Stirred reactors are key equipment in production,and unpredictable failures will result in significant economic losses and safety ***,it is necessary to monitor its health *** achieve this goal,in this study,five states of the stirred reactor were firstly preset:normal,shaft bending,blade eccentricity,bearing wear,and bolt *** signals along x,y and z axes were collected and analyzed in both the time domain and frequency ***,93 statistical features were extracted and evaluated by ReliefF,Maximal Information Coefficient(MIC)and *** above evaluation results were then fused by D-S evidence theory to extract the final 16 features that are most relevant to the state of the stirred ***,the CatBoost algorithm was introduced to establish the stirred reactor health monitoring *** validation results showed that the model achieves 100%accuracy in detecting the fault/normal state of the stirred reactor and 98%accuracy in diagnosing the type of fault.

Sand control mechanism of radial well filled with phase change material in hydrate reservoir

Radial well filled with phase change material has been proposed as a novel sand control method for hydrate exploitation. In order to reveal the sand control mechanism, CFD-DEM coupling method is applied to simulate the migration, settlement, and blockage processes of sand particles in the radial *** obtained results indicate that three scenarios have been recognized for sand particles passing through sand control medium, based on the diameter ratio of sand control medium to sand particle（Dd）:fully passing（Dd= 8.75-22.5）, partially passing and partially blocked（Dd= 3.18-5.63）, and completely blocked（Dd= 2.18-3.21）. After being captured by the sand control medium, sand particles can block pores, which increases fluid flow resistance and causes a certain pressure difference in the radial *** pressure in the radial well should be lower than the hydrate phase equilibrium pressure during sand control design, for the purpose of promoting hydrate decomposition, and sand capture. The length of the radial well should be optimized based on the reservoir pore pressure, production pressure difference,bottom hole pressure, and the pressure gradient in the radial well. It should be noticed that the sand control medium leads to a decrease in permeability after sand particles captured. Even the permeability is reduced to several hundred millidarcy, it is still sufficient to ensure the effective flow of gas and water after hydrate decomposition. Increasing fluid velocity reduces the blocking capacity of the sand control medium, mainly because of deterioration in bridging between sand particles.

Chinese urban residential buildings face serious indoor air quality *** purification systems(e.g.,air purifiers,fresh air systems)that supply fresh air or purify indoor air are widely used in residential buildings to improve indoor air *** the challenges of energy conservation and emission reduction,it is urgent to guide residents on choosing appropriate air purification *** key problem is how to identify the best air purification system with the lowest energy consumption or operating *** of air purification systems have rarely been conducted on the premise that they should deliver air such that the main indoor pollutant concentrations all meet air quality *** ignored in comparisons are the increased filtration resistance caused by dust accumulation on the filter and the cost of filter *** this study,we propose a method to compare residential air purification systems based on energy consumption and total cost,and we provide methods to select air purification systems in China's different climatic *** used a standard two-person bedroom as the example,and determined the most suitable(minimum cost or energy consumption)air purification systems for the capital cities of the provinces in Chinese mainland.

Implication of Water-Rock Interaction for Enhancing Shale Gas Production

Horizontal well drilling and multi-stage hydraulic fracturing technologies are at the root of commercial shale gas development and *** these processes,typically,a large amount of working fluid enters the formation,resulting in widespread water-rock *** understanding such effects is required to optimize the production *** this study,the mechanisms of water-rock interaction and the associated responses of shale fabric are systematically reviewed for working fluids such as neutral fluids,acid fluids,alkali fluids and oxidative *** is shown that shale is generally rich in water-sensitive components such as clay minerals,acidsensitive components(like carbonate minerals),alkali-sensitive components(like quartz),oxidative-sensitive components(like organic matter and pyrite),which easily lead to change of rock fabric and mechanical properties owing to water-rock *** to the results,oxidizing acid fluids and oxidizing fracturing fluids should be used to enhance shale gas *** study also indicates that an aspect playing an important role in increasing cumulative gas production is the optimization of the maximum shut-in time based on the change point of the wellhead pressure drop *** important influential factor to be considered is the control of the wellhead pressure considering the stress sensitivity and creep characteristics of the fracture network.

Geochemistry of cherts from the northern Jiangxi region, South China: Implication for paleoenvironment

The extensive bedded cherts deposited during the Ediacaran-Cambrian (E-C) transition period play a crucial role in understanding the geological evolution of this period, yet the origin of these cherts remains disputed. Here, we present new geochemical data for cherts of the Piyuancun (PYC) Formation deposited during the Late Ediacaran and the Hetang (HT) Formation deposited during the Early Cambrian in northern Jiangxi region, Lower Yangtze region, South China. The PYC cherts contain a small amount of monaxons sponge spicules and radiolarian fragments, while the HT cherts lack siliceous organism evidence. Major and trace element analysis, coupled with discriminant diagrams, indicate a possible shift in redox conditions of seawater during the E-C transition in the northern Jiangxi region. The shift suggests a change from weakly-moderately restricted euxinic conditions to strongly restricted euxinic conditions. Furthermore, the location of both cherts are distant from the source area of siliceous organisms. Fossil evidence, as well as the values of Fe/Ti and Fe/(Mn+Ti), Eu anomalies, Post-Archean Australian Shale (PAAS) normalized REE+Y patterns, and various discriminant diagrams,support the conclusion that the PYC and HT cherts originated primarily from direct seawater precipitation, with the PYC cherts exhibiting weak hydrothermal evidence. Upwelling contributes to the formation of HT cherts and organic matter (OM) accumulation. Ocean acidification, triggered by OM degradation and biodegradation processes during the E-C transition period, leads to the extensive silica precipitation and preservation. These results enhance our understanding of the geological processes during the E-C transition.

Preparation of baicalin colon-targeted granules and its intervention effect on ulcerative colitis in rats

Baicalin(BA)is a flavonoid extracted from the dried root of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi with excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory biological *** this study,Eudragit S100 was used as the colonic target material to prepare BA colonic targeting granules(EBCGs)based on plasticizer dry powder coating technology to improve the targeting transportation performance of *** vitro studies showed that EBCGs with pH-sensitive properties were successfully prepared by plasticizer dry powder coating,and in vivo animal imaging studies showed that EBCGs could deliver BA to the colon and inhibit the release of BA in the upper gastrointestinal tract(GIT).In vivo studies showed that EBCGs had good therapeutic effects in colitis,which reduced expression levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and increased superoxide dismutase(SOD)activities in the colonic tissues of rats with *** conclusion,Eudragit S100 could be used for the preparation of multi-unit oral colon-targeted formulations by plasticizer dry powder coating technology,and our prepared EBCGs had good colon-targeting properties,which could improve the therapeutic effect and provide a potential application for ulcerative colitis(UC).

Numerical investigation of hydro-morphodynamic characteristics of a cascading failure of landslide dams

A cascading failure of landslide dams caused by strong earthquakes or torrential rains in mountainous river valleys can pose great threats to people’s lives,properties,and *** this study,based on the three-dimensional Reynoldsaveraged Navier-Stokes equations(RANS),the renormalization group(RNG)k-εturbulence model,suspended and bed load transport equations,and the instability discriminant formula of dam breach side slope,and the explicit finite volume method(FVM),a detailed numerical simulation model for calculating the hydro-morphodynamic characteristics of cascading dam breach process has been *** developed numerical model can simulate the breach hydrograph and the dam breach morphology evolution during the cascading failure process of landslide dams.A model test of the breaches of two cascading landslide dams has been used as the validation *** comparison of the calculated and measured results indicates that the breach hydrograph and the breach morphology evolution process of the upstream and downstream dams are generally consistent with each other,and the relative errors of the key breaching parameters,i.e.,the peak breach flow and the time to peak of each dam,are less than±5%.Further,the comparison of the breach hydrographs of the upstream and downstream dams shows that there is an amplification effect of the breach flood on the cascading landslide dam *** key parameters,i.e.,the distance between the upstream and the downstream dams,the river channel slope,and the downstream dam height,have been used to study the flood amplification *** parameter sensitivity analyses show that the peak breach flow at the downstream dam decreases with increasing distance between the upstream and the downstream dams,and the downstream dam ***,the peak breach flow at the downstream dam first increases and then decreases with steepening of the river channel *** the flood caused by the upstream dam failure flows to the
