A review of SAGD technology development and its possible application potential on thin-layer super-heavy oil reservoirs

Super-heavy oil is a significant unconventional energy source,and more than 30 years of research have shown that steam-assisted gravity drainage(SAGD)technology is suitable for thick super-heavy oil ***,more and more thin-layer super-heavy oil reservoirs have been discovered in China,while their deep buried depth and serous heterogeneity make the existing SAGD technology difficult to apply,so it is urgent to improve the existing SAGD technology for the thin-layer super-heavy *** this end,this paper focuses on the enlightenment of field application in SAGD ***,based on typical SAGD field projects,the development history of SAGD technology in the world was reviewed,and the influence of reservoir physical properties on the application of SAGD technology in thin-layer superheavy oil reservoirs was ***,the well pattern,wellbore structure,pre-heating,artificial lift,and monitor technique of SAGD were detailed described,and their adjustment direction was expounded for the development of thin-layer super-heavy oil ***,the gas-and solventassistant SAGD were comprehensively evaluated,and their application potential in thin-layer superheavy oil reservoirs was *** research results can provide theoretical guidance for the application of SAGD technology in thin-layer super-heavy oil reservoirs.

Host-induced silencing of MpPar6 confers Myzus persicae resistance in transgenic rape plants

plant-mediated RNA interference(RNAi)has emerged as a promising technology for insect *** green peach aphid,Myzus persicae,feeds on over 400 species of host *** napus(rape)is the second most important oilseed crop *** persicae is highly reproductive and causes severe damage to the rape plants due to its quite flexible life *** this study,we tested the RNAi effects of transgenic rape plants on *** in vitro feeding *** with artificial diets containing double-stranded RNAs(dsRNAs)targeting seven aphid genes,we identified a new gene encoding the partitioning-defective protein 6(Par6)as the most potent RNAi ***-and stage-expression analysis of Par6 suggested this gene is highly expressed in the embryo and adult stage of *** next generated transgenic rape plants expressing ds Par6 by Agrobacteriummediated transformation and obtained nine independent transgenic *** to wild-type control plants,transgenic rape lines expressing ds Par6 showed strong resistance to *** assays revealed that feeding transgenic rape plants to *** significantly decreased MpPar6 expression and survival rate and impaired ***,we showed that the resistance levels to *** are positively correlated with ds Par6 expression levels in transgenic rape *** study demonstrates that transgenic rape plants expressing ds Par6 are efficiently protected from *** with the genes involved in embryo development could be the effective RNAi targets for controlling aphids and potentially other insect pests.

Efficient demulsification of ultralow-concentration crude oil-in-water emulsion by three-dimensional superhydrophilic channels

Efficient extraction of crude oil,the major energy resource of current concern and high demand worldwide,is of paramount importance in both energy and environmental ***,it remains a great challenge to separate the crude oil-in-water emulsions with an ultralow oil content ofoil droplets.A high separation efficiency of ∼96.8% and low total organic carbon content of ∼6 ppm are thus achieved for the ultralow-concentration crude oil-in-water *** pressure and time dependence of the separation process is systematically studied with a critical pressure of 12.25 *** a high performance is close to the theoretical limit imposed by the ultralow concentration,and shows obvious advances over either organic membranes or inorganic frameworks.

ICE1 interacts with IDD14 to transcriptionally activate QQS to increase pollen germination and viability

In flowering plants,sexual reproductive success depends on the production of viable pollen ***,the mechanisms by which QUA QUINE STARCH(QQS)regulates pollen development and how transcriptional activators facilitate the transcription of QQS in this process remain poorly ***,we demonstrate that INDUCER OF CBF EXPRESSION 1(ICE1),a basic helix–loop–helix(b HLH)transcription factor,acts as a key transcriptional activator and positively regulates QQS expression to increase pollen germination and viability in Arabidopsis thaliana by interacting with INDETERMINATE DOMAIN14(IDD14).In our genetic and biochemical experiments,overexpression of ICE1 greatly promoted both the activation of QQS and high pollen viability mediated by ***14 additively enhanced ICE1 function by promoting the binding of ICE1 to the QQS *** addition,mutation of ICE1 significantly repressed QQS expression;the impaired function of QQS and the abnormal anther dehiscence jointly affected pollen development of the ice1-2 *** results also showed that the enhancement of pollen activity by ICE1 depends on ***,QQS interacted with CUT1,the key enzyme for long-chain lipid *** interaction both promoted CUT1 activity and regulated pollen lipid metabolism,ultimately determining pollen hydration and *** results not only provide new insights into the key function of QQS in promoting pollen development by regulating pollen lipid metabolism,but also elucidate the mechanism that facilitates the transcription of QQS in this vital developmental process.

A new evaluation method of gel's dynamic sealing characteristic in porous media

Water shutoff through injection wells is one of the most important techniques used for water injection profile control and modification in severely heterogeneous reservoirs,aiming at stabilizing oil *** has been widely reported that the effectiveness and efficiency of water shutoff using gel is mostly dependent on the gel dynamic sealing properties in the porous *** the gelation strength and gelation time of polymer gel were ***,core flowing experiments were conducted before and after gelation in a 32 m long sand *** addition,water flooding core experiments were also carried out in a long core of 80 cm before and after injecting gel system to check the reliability of this evaluation *** experimental results show that moderate-strength gel can be formed at 65 °*** to the integrated evaluation of the plugging coefficient,plugging strength and water breakthrough time,the gel particles are capable of migrating to a distance of 7.47 m from the injection point of the 32 m long sand pack during the water injection process after *** on sands gelation status and effluent analyses,the effective migration distance of the gel particles is 4-14 *** the core flooding experiments using the 80 cm heterogeneous core,it is evidenced that the gel can be formed in the deep reservoir(40.63% of total length) with the plugging strength as high as 6.33 MPa/m,which leads to extra oil recovery of 10.55% of original oil in place(OOIP) by water flooding after gel treatment.

Sequence boundaries and regularities in the oil-gas distribution of the low swelling slope belt in the continental rift basin

Where are the zones more enriched in sand deposits in the down slope and deep depression of the low swelling slope belt? Are there any screening conditions for oil and gas there? These are the chief geological problems to be solved during exploration of a region. Taking the Paleogene system developed along the east slope belt of Chengdao as an example the concepts of sequence stratigraphy and sedimentary sequenc are applied. A new research method likened to a way ''to get a melon by following the vine'' is proposed to determine the direction for exploring within un-drilled or less-drilled areas. This is the process: ''the characteristics of the sequence boundary ? the forming mechanism of the stratigraphic sequence ? the conditions of oil and gas accumulation ? the distribution zones of oil and gas''. The relationship between the dynamic mechanism of stratigraphic sequence and the forming conditions for oil and gas accumulation establishes that the tectonic disturbance of the slope belt has significant responses as denudation and deposition. Above the stratigraphic sequence boundary there are large scale sand bodies of the low stand system tract (LST) that have developed in the low swelling slope belt and its deep depression. Below the sequence boundary there are the remaining sand bodies of the high stand system tract (HST). On the slope there is a convergence of mudstone layers of the extended system tract (EST) with the mudstone of the underlying strata, which constitutes the screening conditions for the reservoir of the down slope and deep depression. The distribution regularities in preferred sand bodies on the surface of the sequence boundary, and in the system tract, indicate the ordering of oil-gas deposits. From the higher stand down to the depth of the slope there are, in order, areas where exploration was unfavorable, major areas of stratigraphic overlap of oil-gas reservoirs, unconformity screened oil-gas reservoirs, and, finally, sandstone lens oil-gas

SEEPAGE ABILITY OF HIGH-PRESSURE HOT COMPOSITE FOAM IN POROUS MEDIA

The technology of hot composite foam displacement refers to the injection of high-temperature flue gas and foaming and stabilizing agent into wells with a certain concentration, and after meeting the formation water, a composite foam system is formed in the reservoir. This foam displacement technology involves thermal function and so is related to nitrogen, carbon dioxide and foam flooding characteristics. After analyzing seepage flow law of hot composite foam system, seepage flow experiment of composite foam under high pressure was conducted, and seepage flow ability of hot composite foam in porous media was investigated. In the experiment, surfactant HY-3 was chosen as the foaming agent and hot flue gas was chosen as the foaming gas, and high-pressure hot foaming apparatus was employed in experiments. The experimental results indicate that the surfactant HY-3 could form stable foam in porous media, and the foam has strong ability of plugging. It is concluded that the sealing performance of foam is improved with increasing permeability and resistance coefficient and with incresing injection rate and foam strength. After foam injection, sealing characteristics of heterogeneous cores is better than that of homogeneous cores. The foam pressure has a process of transmission in porous media. In this process, with the increase of injection volume, pressure from the inlet to the outlet increases gradually, which indicates that stable foam has been formed inside the core.

Effect of nanocomposite pour point depressant EVAL/CNT on flow properties of waxy crude oil

The nanocomposite EVAL-CNT was produced by chemical grafting in the solution system through the esterification of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVAL) and carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (O-MWCNT), and its structural properties were characterized. The improvement of the rheological properties of the waxy oil system by the novel pour point depressant was investigated using macroscopic rheological measurements and microscopic observations. The results showed that EVAL-CNT nanocomposite pour point depressant (PPD) could significantly reduce the pour point and improve the low temperature fluidity of crude oil and had better performance than EVAL-GO at the same addition level. The best effect was achieved at the dosing concentration of 400 ppm, which reduced the pour point by 13 ℃ and the low-temperature viscosity by 85.4%. The nanocomposites dispersed in the oil phase influenced the precipitation and crystallization of wax molecules through heterogeneous crystallization templates, which led to the increase of wax crystal size and compact structure and changed the wax crystal morphology, which had a better effect on the rheological properties of waxy oil.

Effect of an Anionic Surfactant on Hydraulic Conductivities of Sodium- and Calcium-Saturated Soils

The effect of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS), an anionic surfactant used widely in household products and industrial processes, on saturated hydraulic conductivities (Ksat) of an Anthrosol saturated with sodium (Na-soil) or calcium (Ca-soil) was analyzed in a laboratory experiment using the constant head method, and adsorption and dispersion experiments were also conducted to infer the possible mechanisms of Ksat fluctuations. The results showed that SDBS was more intensely adsorbed in the Ca-soil than in the Na-soil. With an increase in the SDBS concentration, the stability of the Na-soil suspensions decreased when the SDBS concentration was less than 1.2 mmol L-1 and then above this concentration, increased markedly, while the stability of the Ca-soil suspensions increased gradually at all SDBS concentrations studied. With an increase in the SDBS concentration, the Ksat of the Na-soil increased, which resulted mainly from the increase of water channels in the soil because of the coagulation of the soil particles, while the Ksat of Ca-soil decreased mainly on account of the clogging of partial water channels by precipitated Ca(DBS)2 and the fine soil particles generated.
