Molecular pathogenesis of lymphomas of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-from(auto)antigen driven selection to the activation of NF-_(k)B signaling

Lymphomas of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT) are typically present at sites such as the stomach, lung or urinary tract, where lymphoid tissues scatter in mucosa lamina propria, intra- or sub-epithelial cells. The infection of certain pathogens, such as Helicobacter pylori, Chlamydophila psittaci, Borrelia burgdorferi, hepatitis C virus, or certain autoantigens cause these sites to generate a germinal center called the "acquired lymphoid tissue". The molecular pathogenesis of MALT lymphoma is a multi-step process. Receptor signaling, such as the contact stimulation of B cell receptors and CD4 positive T cells mediated by CD40/CD40-ligand and T helper cell type 2 cytokines like interleukin-4, contributes to tumor cell proliferation. A number of genetic alterations have been identified in MALT lymphoma, and among them are important translocations, such as t(11;18)(q21;q21), t(1;14)(p22;q32), t(14;18)(q32;q21) and t(3;14)(p13;q32). Fusion proteins generated by these translocations share the same NF-?B signaling pathway, which is activated by the caspase activation and recruitment domain containing molecules of the membrane associated guanylate kinase family, B cell lymphoma-10 and MALT1(CBM) protein complex. They act downstream of cell surface receptors, such as B cell receptors, T cell receptors, B cell activating factors and Toll-like receptors, and participate in the biological process of MALT lymphoma. The discovery of therapeutic drugs that exclusively inhibit the antigen receptor signaling pathway will be beneficial for the treatment of B cell lymphomas in the future.

Medical application of diffraction enhanced imaging in mouse liver blood vessels

Neovascularization is correlative with many processes of diseases, especially for tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis. What is more, these tumor microvessels are totally different from normal vessels in morphology. Therefore, observation of the morphologic distribution of microvessels is one of the key points for many researchers in the field. Using diffraction enhanced imaging （DEI）, we observed the mirocvessles with diameter of about 40 μm in mouse liver. Moreover, the refraction image obtained from DEI shows higher image contrast and exhibits potential use for medical applications.

Comprehensive treatment of acute-on-chronic liver failure in a patient with hepatitis B： a case report

The clinical data of a patient with acute-on-chronic liver failure were analyzed retrospectively. The patient has suffered from hepatitis B for 30 years. His liver function deteriorated, yielding Child-Pugh grade C and reaching a model for end-stage liver disease score of 33 points within a short period; this condition was complicated with highly active variceal bleeding and coagulation system failure （PT 〉 100 s）. The patient also presented hepatocellular carcinoma. Comprehensive treatments included effective inhibition of hepatitis B virus replication and intensive care support. Piggyback orthotopic liver transplantation was performed as the final treatment. The patient recovered uneventfully and was discharged after surgery.

Selective endoscopic ligation for treatment of upper gastrointestinal protuberant lesions

This study explored the clinical value of endoscopic ligation for the treatment of upper gastrointestinal(GI)protuberant lesions in *** to the appearance and size of lesions,we used different ligation techniques for the treatment of the *** ultrasonography was used for preliminary characterization of the *** case diagnosed with PeutzJeghers syndrome was successfully treated by a detachable *** cases with semi-pedunculated or broad-base lesions originating from the submucosal layer of the upper GI were treated with endoscopic variceal ligation;endoscopic examination showed that one case had complete healing 11 wk after ligation,while an ulcer scar was observed at the ligation site after 6 wk in the other *** lesions were successfully ligated at the first *** significant complications occurred either during or after the *** endoscopic ligation of upper GI lesions is an effective and safe treatment for upper GI protuberant lesions in children.

Elimination plus Transformation——Chinese and Western Medicine Integration Brings Hope to Protracted War on Cancer

Modern medicine has been fighting the battle with cancer for near 200 years, achieved substantial progresses but yet to claim the final victory. Author believes that the battle strategy has the profound impact to the result. Since Virchow discovered the cellular origin of cancer in 1863, cancers are being seeing as a localized disease resulting from foreign invasions whereas eradication therapies have been the dominant practices. However, people neglected the overall relationship between cancer and human body therefore overlooked the solutions from transformation, modulation and regulation point of view.

A circRNA–miRNA–mRNA network analysis underlying pathogenesis of human heart failure

BACKGROUND The molecular mechanisms of heart failure(HF) are still poorly understood. Circular RNA(circRNA) has been discovered in the heart in increasing numbers of studies. The goal of this research is to learn more about the potential roles of circRNAs in *** & RESULTS We used RNA sequencing data to identify the characteristics of circRNAs expressed in the heart and discovered that the majority of circRNAs screened were less than 2000 nt. Additionally, chromosomes One and Y had the most and least number of circRNAs, respectively. After excluding duplicate host genes and intergenic circRNAs, a total of 238 differentially expressed circRNAs(DECs) and 203 host genes were discovered. However, only four of the 203 host genes of DECs were examined in HF differentially expressed genes. Another study used Gene Oncology analysis of DECs host genes to elucidate the underlying pathogenesis of HF, and it found that binding and catalytic activity accounted for a large portion of DECs. Immune system, metabolism, and signal transduction pathways were significantly enriched. Furthermore, 1052 potentially regulated miRNAs from the top 40 DECs were collected to build a circRNA-mi RNA network, and it was discovered that 470 miRNAs can be regulated by multiple circRNAs, while others are regulated by a single circRNA. In addition, a comparison of the top 10m RNAs in HF and their targeted miRNAs revealed that DDX3Y and UTY were regulated by the most and least circRNA, *** These findings demonstrated circRNAs have species and tissue specific expression patterns;while circRNA expression is independent on host genes, the same types of genes in DECs and DEGs worked in HF. Our findings would contribute to a better understanding of the critical roles of circRNAs and lay the groundwork for future studies of HF molecular functions.
