[ Objective] The reseamh aimed to analyze the relationship between vertical distribution of four automatic stations and local precipitation in Taihang Mountain of Linzhou. [ Method] Using mesoscale detection and statistical data of the automatic stations in henan, the geographical distribution of the precipitation affected by underlying surface in mountainous area of Linzhou was analyzed. [ Result] Surface mesoscale wind field convergence line formed by thermal action of inhomogeneous underlying surface and mountainous terrain and upward movement played the strengthening role to the low-level jet. They affected formation and development of strong convective weather. The geographic distribution of precipitation in mountainous area was highly affected by the terrain, and rainfall, precipitation days and intensity in mountainous area were significantly greater than that in the surrounding hills region. In particular, rainfall on the windward slope significantly increased, and rainfall increased as mountain height within a certain height. [ Conclusion] Hourly ground data analysis at automatic stations had very good forecast indication role in formation, development and dissipation of heavy rain in mountainous areas.

Soil heat flux is important for surface energy balance （SEB）, and inaccurate estimation of soil heat flux often leads to surface energy imbalance. In this paper, by using observations of surface radiation fluxes and soil temperature gradients at a semi-arid grassland in Xilingguole, Inner Mongolia, China from June to September 2008, the characters of the SEB for the semi-arid grassland were analyzed. Firstly, monthly averaged diurnal variations of SEB components were revealed. A 30-min forward phase displacement of soil heat flux （G） observed by a fluxplate at the depth of 5-em below the soil surface was conducted and its effect on the SEB was studied. Secondly, the surface soil heat flux （Gs） was computed by using harmonic analysis and the effect of the soil heat storage between the surface and the fluxplate on the SEB was examined. The results show that with the 30-min forward phase displacement of observed G, the slope of the ordinary linear regression （OLR） of turbulent fluxes （H＋LE） against available energy （Rn G） increased from 0.835 to 0.842, i.e., the closure ratio of SEB increased by 0.7%, yet energy imclosure of 15.8% still existed in the SEB. When Gs, instead of G was used in the SEB equation, the slope of corresponding OLR of （H＋LE） against （Rn-Gs） reached 0.979, thereby the imelosure ratio of SEB was reduced to only 2.1%.

The activity of South China Sea southwest monsoon (SCSSM) has direct impacts on the anomalies of important weather in Guangdong province during the raining seasons. So it is necessary to explore thoroughly the activity pattern of SCSSM and its relationship with important weather anomalies in the province. In this paper, the methods of composite analysis and correlation statistics are used to study the relationship between the onset date and intensity of SCSSM and the important weather, such as precipitation trends in Guangdong province during the annually first and second raining seasons, the timing of the annually first and last typhoon and the number of typhoons landing in Guangdong province. The results show that the rainfall is less than normal during the first raining season, but more than normal during the second one and there are more tropical cyclones landing in Guangdong province in the years of early SCSSM onset. The rainfall is more than normal during the second raining season and there are more tropical cyclones landing in Guangdong province in the years of strong SCSSM. The relationship between the SST of April - June, July - September and previous winter (December - February) and 500 hPa geopotential height and the onset date and intensity of SCSSM is analyzed. Some mechanisms between the onset dates and intensity of SCSSM and the important weather anomalies in Guangdong province are preliminarily explored. The results can be used for reference in short-term climate forecast.

The relationship between the self-organization of double vortices （SODVs） and the formation of typhoons was discussed based on six numerical experiments with the Fifth-Generation National Center for Atmospheric Research/Penn State Mesoscale Model （MM5） and further discussion was made with a real typhoon case. The results showed that there is a critical distance dc for SODVs in baroclinic atmosphere. When the distance between separated vortices is smaller than or equal to d~, the double vortices self-organize into a typhoon-like vortex with two spiral bands. But the double vortices cannot have such organization if the distance between them is larger than de. The value of dc is about 380 km in the context of ideal conditions in this paper, larger than that achieved in a barotropic model. A typical typhoon case in 2005 （Haitang） was selected to verify the above-mentioned conclusions. It was found that the SODV is one of the important and typical ways for the formation of typhoons.

Analysis on Relationship between Overcast and Rainy Weather, Drought, Flood and Wheat Yield

[Objective] The research aimed to study influence of meteorological factor in late growth stage of wheat. [Method] Based on precipitation, sunshine and yield per unit of wheat in Anyang City in May of 1979-2008, the positive and negative influences of meteorological condition in late growth stage of wheat (May) on wheat yield in Anyang City were analyzed by using agricultural climatic statistical method. Moreover, the reason and defense measure of green-dry hazard in late growth stage of wheat in the city were studied. [Result] When the sunshine percentage in May > 55%, and rainfall 80 mm, and monthly sunshine percentage < 55%, the wheat yield generally reduced. The overcast and rainy weather, flood in late growth stage of wheat were easy to cause green-dry yield reduction. The rainless weather even drought weren’t obviously unfavorable for good harvest of wheat. In May, when precipitation was too more, or duration was too long, and the air humidity was too big, the normal water supply and inorganic nutrient transmission were affected. Meanwhile, when the overcast and rainy weather was longer, the sunshine was shorter, and the sunshine intensity weakened in late stage, it wasn’t favorable for accumulation of photosynthetic product, and the normal implementing of grouting process was affected. The measures should be used to prevent and control green-dry yield reduction of wheat, such as discharging water and preventing flood, breeding good seed, scientific planting and reasonable irrigation. [Conclusion] The research provided scientific basis for studying variety improvement, scientific plantation, reasonable irrigation, good quality and high yield of wheat.

[ Objective] The research aimed to study influences of meteorological factors on high-quality summer millet production in north henan province. [ Method] By using summer millet yield and corresponding meteorological data in Anyang of henan, influence of rainfall on yield of new high-quality summer millet vadety during 2003 -2012 was analyzed. [Result]Rainfall during May -July had the maximum influence on summer millet yield. Correlation regression equation was Y = 0.738 8X ＋ 159.991 （ R = 0.982 04）, reaching extremely significant level. [ Conclusion ] The re- search could provide scientific basis for sufficiently using local meteorological condition, breeding high-quality summer millet variety and its high yield.

Diagnostic Analysis on a Regional Rainstorm Weather in North-central henan province

[Objective] The research aimed to analyze a regional rainstorm weather process in north-central henan province. [Method] Based on the conventional meteorological observation data and the rainfall data of henan meteorological Station, the diagnostic analysis of atmospheric thermodynamics and dynamics on a rainstorm weather process in north-central henan province on July 19, 2010 was carried out. The characteristics of physical quantity field and the evolution of weather situation in north-central henan province when the rainstorm happened were studied. [Result] Western Pacific subtropical high strengthened to extend westward. The dynamic uplifting of low vortex at the middle and low layers, the strong water vapor transportation of southwest low-level jet caused the regional rainstorm weather process in north-central henan province. The diagnostic results of physical quantity showed that the deep, thick wet layer and the sustained water vapor convergence provided the abundant water vapor for rainstorm generation. The positive vorticity advection center developed and spread from northwest to southeast, which was favorable for the development of vertical movement. The structure maintenance of positive vorticity at the middle and low layers, negative vorticity at the middle and high levels provided the power condition for the regional rainstorm generation. The pumping effect of convergence at the middle and low layers, divergence at the high layer was favorable for the strengthening of vertical ascending motion at the low layer. The uplifting effect of dew point front at the middle and low layers triggered the release of unstable energy. The confrontation of warm and cold air was one of the important reasons for the regional rainstorm. TBB characteristic analysis showed that TBB was from -60 to -50 ℃ in north-central henan province in the whole strong precipitation time, and the moving speed was equivalent to that of southwest vortex. Extreme drought events have increased,causing serious losses and damage to the social economy under current warming ***,short-term meteorological data limit our understanding and projection of these *** the accumulation of proxy data,especially tree-ring data,large-scale precipitation field reconstruction has provided opportunities to explore underlying mechanisms *** point-by-point regression,we reconstructed the April–September precipitation field in China for the past～530 years on the basis of 590 proxy records,including 470 tree-ring width chronologies and 120 drought/flood *** regression models explained average 50%of the variance in *** the statistical test on calibration and verification,our models passed the significance level that assured reconstruction *** reconstruction data performed well,showing consistency and better quality than previously reported *** first three leading modes of variability in the reconstruction revealed the main distribution modes of precipitation over ***/drought and extremely wet/drought years accounted for 12.81%/10.92%(68 years/58 years) and 1.69%/3.20%(9 years/17 years) of the past～530 years in China,*** extreme drought events can be identified explicitly in our *** detailed features of the Chongzhen Great Drought (1637–1643),the Wanli Great Drought (1585–1590),and the Ding-Wu Great Famine (1874–1879),indicated the existence of potentially different underlying mechanisms that need further *** further improvements can be made for remote uninhabited areas and large deserts,our gridded reconstruction of April–September precipitation in China over the past～530 years can provide a solid database for studies on the attribution of climate change and the mechanism of extreme drought events.

A strong precipitation event caused by the southwest vortex（SWV）, which affected Sichuan province and Chongqing municipality in Southwest China on 10–14 July 2012, is investigated. The SWV is examined using satellite observations from AIRS（Atmospheric Infrared Sounder）, in situ measurements from the SWV intensive observation campaign, and MICAPS（Marine Interactive Computer-Aided Provisioning System） data. Analysis of this precipitation process revealed that：（1）heavy rain occurred during the development phase, and cloud water content increased significantly after the dissipation of the SWV;（2） the area with low outgoing longwave radiation values from AIRS correlated well with the SWV;（3） variation of the temperature of brightness blackbody（TBB） from AIRS reflected the evolution of the SWV, and the values of TBB reduced significantly during the SWV＇s development; and（4） strong temperature and water vapor inversions were noted during the development of the SWV. The moisture profile displayed large vertical variation during the SWV＇s puissant phase,with the moisture inversion occurring at low levels. The moisture content during the receding phase was significantly reduced compared with that during the developing and puissant phases. The vertical flux of vapor divergence explained the variation of the moisture profile. These results also indicate the potential for using AIRS products in studying severe weather over the Tibetan Plateau and its surroundings, where in situ measurements are sparse.

CLIMATOLOGICAL VARIATION FEATURES OF TYPHOON PRECIPITATION INFLUENCING FUJIAN FOR THE PAST 46 YEARS

The results of an analysis of the temporal and spatial distribution of typhoon precipitation influencing Fujian from 1960 to 2005 show that typhoon precipitation in Fujian province occurs from May to November, with the most in August. There has been a decreasing trend since 1960. Typhoon precipitation gradually decreases from the coastal region to the northwestern mainland of Fujian and the maximum typhoon precipitation occurs in the northeast and the south of Fujian. Typhoon torrential rain is one of the extreme rainfall events in Fujian. High frequencies of typhoon torrential rain occur in the coastal and southwest regions of the province. With the impact of Fujian＇s terrain, typhoon precipitation occurs more easily to the east of the mountains than to the west. Atmospheric circulation at 500 hPa over Asia and sea surface temperature anomalies of the equatorial eastern Pacific are analyzed, with the finding that they are closely connected with the anomaly of typhoon precipitation influencing Fujian, possibly mainly by modulating the northbound track of typhoons via changing the atmosphere circulation to lead to the anomaly of typhoon precipitation over the province
