The frozen bodies of a young woolly mammoth(Mammuthus primigenius),a wild horse(Equus sp.)and a steppe bison(Bison priscus)were recently found in the northern Yakutia(northeastern Siberia).All specimens have preserved bones,skin and soft *** the woolly mammoth and the Pleistocene horse were represented by partial frozen bodies,the steppe bison body was recovered in an absolutely complete *** specimens were found frozen in the permafrost,with some of the tissues *** wild horse and steppe bison are of Holocene age,and the mammoth is of Late Pleistocene age.

Wetland is the transitional zone between the permanently wet and dry environment and shares the charac-teristics of the environment. Wetland is not yet to be classified unambiguously as either aquatic or terrestrial. However,the Ramsar Convention adopts an extremely broad approach in determining the wetland; as a result, several varieties ofhabitat types are included under the wetland definition. Wetlands are among the world’s most productive ecosystems andprovide a wide variety of goods and services. Nepal lies on the southern slopes of central Himalayas and occupies a totalarea of 147 181 km2between the latitudes 26°22′N and 30°27′N and the longitudes 80°40′E and 88°12′E. The di-verse landscape (60 -8 848 m) and bioclimatic conditions (alpine to tropical) of the country provide a unique niche fordifferent types of wetlands. These are distributed from high altitudinal glacial lakes to hot springs, ponds, ox-bowlakesto river floodplains, marshes and swamps. The country has 15 types of inland freshwater natural wetlands as classified bythe Ramsar Convention. These wetlands house several species of rare and endangered flora and fauna. The present paperattempts to highlight the various types of wetlands in Nepal with associate vegetation.

SARS-CoV-2, a novel coronavirus that causes the human disease COVID-19, was determined to be the cause of a cluster of pneumonia cases in Wuhan, China which began in December 2019 [1]. The first case in the United States reportedly occurred on 20 January 2020 in Washington state in a patient with a history of travel to Wuhan [2]. We report an earlier case of COVID-19 in Queens, New York in November 2019. While it is not perfectly clear from the initial November 2019 emergency department case presentation, if the patient had influenza alone, COVID-19 alone, or combined influenza and COVID-19 infection, presenting lung lesions and constitutional symptoms, later follow-up antibody and immune cell analyses, and the possibility of false-positive RIDT, do strongly suggest initial COVID-19 infection (with or without initial influenza infection). This clinical paper becomes important, because it may describe the earliest now-reported COVID-19 case in the United States, and because emergency department and post-emergency department treatments contributed to a successful patient outcome.

Genesis of Geothermal Fluid in Typical Geothermal Fields in Western Sichuan,China

The hydrogeochemical characteristics of geothermal fluids can reveal the genesis of geothermal systems and act as important references for developing and using geothermal *** study presents hydrogeochemical processes and thermal cycle mechanisms of typical geothermal fields in Western *** on the geological conditions in Western Sichuan,29 hot springs in three geothermal fields in the Batang and Litang areas were selected for hydrochemical and isotopic(δD andδ18O)***,the temperature of the thermal reservoir was calculated and the upflow cooling process of the hot springs was *** of the subterranean hot waters in Batang and Litang are of the HCO3-Na hydrochemical *** ion variation in Batang is primarily affected by water-rock *** is a strong positive correlation between Na+,B?,and Cl?in Litang,suggesting that they have the same material *** Na+and metaboric acid content is relatively high,which indicates that the groundwater runoff in both areas is relatively long-lasting,with reduced flow velocity;moreover,the metasilicic acid content is relatively high,which supports this *** hydrogen and oxygen isotopes plot near the atmospheric precipitation line,indicating that groundwater recharge is functionally obtained from *** calculated thermal storage temperatures in Batang and Litang were 88–199℃ and 96–154℃,*** proportion of cold water mixing in Batang was 64%–67%,while that in Litang was 60%–68%.According to the calculated results,the initial thermal cycle depth of the Batang area(4540–4780 m)was greater than that of the Litang area(3150–3960 m).The enthalpy of the deep parental geothermal fluid in Batang was 1550 J/g with a Cl^(-)concentration of 37 mg/L,while that in Litang was 2100 J/g with a Cl^(-)concentration of 48 mg/L.

Southeastern China(SE China)is located in the Pacific tectonic domain and has experienced a series of tectono-magmatic events induced by the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate since the late *** subduction formed a series of NE-NNE oriented faults under a NW-SE regional stress field,along which a number of thermal springs *** studies have focused on the genesis mechanism of specific geothermal fields in SE China,but the general characteristics of hydrothermal systems in SE China remains *** this study,we investigate the correlation between geothermal activity,hydrochemical type and regional faults by studying the distribution of hydrothermal activity and geochemical properties of typical hydrothermal systems in SE *** hydrothermal systems in SE China have a crustal thermally-dominated structural origin unique to the specific geological and tectonic conditions of the Eurasian Plate *** upwelling of the asthenosphere and the widespread granitoids with high radiogenic heat production in SE China provide major heat sources for regional geothermal *** NE-oriented crustal thermally-dominated faults are critical for the formation of geothermal anomalies and NW-oriented extensional faults have created favorable conditions for meteoric water infiltration,transportation and the formation of thermal springs.

Background: The Russet Bush Warbler Locustella(previously Bradypterus) mandelli complex occurs in mountains in the eastern Himalayas, southern China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The taxonomy has been debated,with one(L. seebohmi) to four(L. seebohmi, L. mandelli, L. montis and L. timorensis) species having been ***: We used an integrative approach, incorporating analyses of morphology, vocalizations and a molecular marker, to re-evaluate species limits in the L. mandelli ***: We found that central Chinese L. mandelli differed from those from India through northern Southeast Asia to southeast China in plumage, morphometrics and song. All were easily classified by song, and(wing + culmen)/tail ratio overlapped only marginally. Both groups were reciprocally monophyletic in a mitochondrial cytochrome b(cytb) gene tree, with a mean divergence of 1.0 ± 0.2%. They were sympatric and mostly altitudinally segregated in the breeding season in southern Sichuan province. We found that the Mt Victoria(western Myanmar) population differed vocally from other L. mandelli, but no specimens are available. Taiwan Bush Warbler L. alishanensis was sister to the L. mandelli complex, with the most divergent song. Plumage, vocal and cytb evidence supported the distinctness of the south Vietnamese L. mandelli idonea. The Timor Bush Warbler L. timorensis, Javan Bush Warbler *** and Benguet Bush Warbler L. seebohmi differed distinctly in plumage, but among-population song variation in L. montis exceeded the differences between some populations of these taxa, and mean pairwise cytb divergences were only 0.5–0.9%. Geothermal anomalies in the Xianshuihe area: Implications for tunnel construction along the Sichuan-Tibet Railway, China

This study presents a comprehensively analysis of geothermal characteristics in the Xianshuihe geothermal area along the Sichuan-Tibet Railway,using temperature logging,temperature monitoring and thermal conductivity measurement,and regional geothermal geological survey *** research focuses on the geothermal background,geothermal field,and their potential impact on the surrounding *** investigation reveals that the average heat flow value in the study area is approximately 73.0 mW/m^(2),significantly higher than the average terrestrial heat flow in China's Mainland(62.5 mW/m^(2)).This high terrestrial heat flow signifies a distinct thermal background in the *** addition,geothermal anomalies in the area are found to be closely associated with the distribution of hot springs along NW faults,indicating a strong control by the Xianshuihe fault *** study concludes that the region's favorable conditions for geothermal resources are attributed to the combination of high terrestrial heatflow background and water-conducting ***,these conditions also pose a potential threat of heat damage to the tunnels along the Sichuan-Tibet *** evaluate the risk,the research takes into account the terrestrial heat flow,thermal conductivity of the tunnel surrounding rocks,characteristics of the regional constant temperature layer,as well as the distribution of hot springs and *** analysis specifically focuses on the thermal damage risk of Kangding 1# tunnel and 2# tunnel passing through the study *** on the findings,it is determined that Kangding 1# tunnel and 2# tunnel have relatively low risk of heat damage,as they have avoided most of the high temperature anomaly ***,several sections of the tunnels do traverse zones with low to medium temperatures,where surface rock temperatures can reach up to 45℃.Therefore,these regions should not be neglected during the construction and operation of the tunnel project,and mitigation measu
