BACKGROUND Central retinal artery occlusion(CRAO)is a potentially blinding disease,and hyperbaric oxygen therapy(HBOT)is becoming increasingly popular with the support of scientific *** the presence of various acute management measures,there is no clear evidence on the gold standard treatment for *** To identify factors and imaging parameters associated with good visual outcome,which guide ophthalmologists in the triage of CRAO patients for *** Patients who suffered from CRAO and had a symptom onset≤6 h were recruited for a course of HBOT in a tertiary hospital after failing bedside *** demographics,onset time,CRAO eye parameters,and past medical history were prospectively *** outcomes after HBOT were also *** A total of 26 patients were included;the female-to-male ratio was 1:1.6,and the mean age was 67.5 years±13.3 years(range 44–89 years).The mean duration of follow-up and mean visual acuity(VA)improvement were 10.0 mo±5.3 mo and 0.48 logarithm of minimal angle of resolution(logMAR)±0.57 logMAR(approx-imately 9 letters in ETDRS)(P=0.0001,Z=-3.67),*** 1 mm zone of central macular thickness(CMT)on optical coherence tomography was not associated with VA changes(P=0.119);however,the 1-to-3 mm circular rim of CMT was fairly associated(P=0.02,Spearman's coefficient=0.45).Complete retinal perfusion time during fundus fluorescein angiography(FFA)was mode-rately associated(P=0.01,Spearman's coefficient=0.58)with visual outcome.

An Overview of Nowcasting Development,Applications,and Services in the hong kong Observatory

the hong kong Observatory （HKO） has been developing a suite of nowcasting systems to support op- erations of the forecasting center and to provide a variety of nowcasting services for the general public and specialized users. The core system is named the Short-range Warnings of Intense Rainstorm of Localized Systems （SWIRLS）, which is a radar-based nowcasting system mainly for the automatic tracking of the movement of radar echoes and the short-range Quantitative Precipitation Forecast （QPF）. The differential, integral （or variational）, and object-oriented tracking algorithms were developed and integrated into the nowcasting suite. In order to predict severe weather associated with intense thunderstorms, such as high gust, hail, and lightning, SWIRLS was enhanced to SWIRLS-II by introduction of a number of physical models, especially the icing physics as well as the thermodynamics of the atmosphere. SWIRLS-Ⅱ was further enhanced with non-hydrostatic, high resolution numerical models for extending the forecast range up to 6h ahead. Meanwhile, SWIRLS was also modified for providing nowcasting services for aviation community and specialized users. To take into account the rapid development of lightning events, ensemble nowcasting techniques such as time-lagged and weighted average ensemble approaches were also adopted in the nowcasting system. Apart from operational uses in hong kong, SWIRLS/SWIRLS-Ⅱ was also exported to other places to participate in several international events such as the WMO/WWRP Forecast Demon- stration Project （FDP） during the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games and the Shanghai Expo 2010. Meanwhile, SWIRLS has also been transferred to various regional meteorological organizations for establishing their nowcasting infrastructure. This paper summarizes the history and the technologies of SWIRLS/SWIRLS-Ⅱ and its variants and the associated nowcasting applications and services provided by the HKO since the mid 1990s.

Utilizing the adopted average topographic density of 2670 kg/m^(3)in the reduction of gravity anomalies introduces errors attributed to topographic density variations,which consequently affect geoid modeling ***,the mean gravity along the plumbline within the topography in the definition of Helmert orthometric heights is computed approximately by applying the Poincar e-Prey gravity reduction where the topographic density variations are *** Helmert orthometric heights of benchmarks are then affected by *** errors could be random or systematic depending on the specific geological setting of the region where the leveling network is physically established and/or the geoid model is *** example of systematic errors in orthometric heights can be given for large regions characterized by sediment or volcanic deposits,the density of which is substantially lower than the adopted topographic density used in Helmert's definition of *** same applies to geoid modeling *** this study,we investigate these errors in the hong kong territory,where topographic density is about 20%lower than the density of 2670 kg/m^(3).We use the digital rock density model to estimate the effect of topographic density variations on the geoid and orthometric *** results show that this effect on the geoid and Helmert orthometric heights reach maxima of about 2.1 and 0.5 cm,*** results provide clear evidence that rock density models are essential in physical geodesy applications involving gravimetric geoid modeling and orthometric height determination despite some criticism that could be raised regarding the reliability of these density ***,in regions dominated by sedimentary and igneous rocks,the geological information is essential in these applications because topographic densities are substantially lower than the average density of 2670 kg/m^(3),thus introducing large systematic errors in geoid and orthometric

We used the geological map and published rock density measurements to compile the digital rock density model for the hong kong *** then estimated the average density for the whole *** to our result,the rock density values in hong kong vary from 2101 to 2681 kg·m^(-3).These density values are typically smaller than the average density of 2670 kg·m^(-3),often adopted to represent the average density of the upper continental crust in physical geodesy and gravimetric geophysics *** finding reflects that the geological configuration in hong kong is mainly formed by light volcanic formations and lava flows with overlying sedimentary deposits at many locations,while the percentage of heavier metamorphic rocks is very low(less than 1%).This product will improve the accuracy of a detailed geoid model and orthometric heights.

Tropical cyclone(TC)track predictions of the 10-km resolution WRF(provisionally named"AAMC-WRF")of the hong kong Observatory(HKO),spanning(20°S-60°N,45°E-160°E)is studied for a 1-year period from April 2018 to Mar ***-time predictions,up to 4 times a day and T+48 h ahead,are verified against operational analysis positions of HKO for storms over the South China Sea(SCS)and Western North Pacific(WNP);and of the New Delhi Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre(RSMC)for storms over the North Indian Ocean basin(NIO;including the Bay of Bengal).Out of 21 named TCs over SCS and WNP,mean positional errors of the AAMC-WRF are 33 km(T+0),63 km(T+24),and 107 km(T+48)based on 209,178 and 142 *** AAMC-WRF outperformed Meso-NHM,also run in real-time at HKO,with mean error reduction up to 34 km or 24%.Mean positional errors for 13 NIO storms are 38 km(T+0),69 km(T+24)and 107 km(T+48)based on 183,131 and 85 *** is the first study in which TC predictions of a regional model are simultaneously examined over the SCS,WNP and NIO basins through real-time experiments.

OBJECTIVE:To develop a clinical practice guideline to guide the treatment of low back pain by ***:An integrative approach of systematic review of literature,clinical evidence classification,expert opinion surveying,and consensus establishing via a Delphi program was utilized during the developing *** evidence-based practice standards and the personalized features of acupuncture were taken into ***:Based on clinical evidence and expert opinions,we developed a clinical practice guideline for the treatment of low back pain with *** recommendations have a wide coverage spanning from Western Medicine diagnosis and Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome differentiation,to acupuncture treatment procedures,as well as post treatment care for rehabilitation and *** recommendations for acupuncture practice included treatment principles,therapeutic regimens,and operational *** levels of evidence and strength of recommendation were rated for each procedure of ***:A clinical practice guideline for acupuncture treating low back pain was developed based on contemporary clinical evidence and experts'consensus to provide best currently agreeable practice guideline for domestic and international stakeholders.

This paper explores the internationalization of higher education initiatives of hong kong,being one of the Special Administrative Regions(SAR)of China,within the context of the Chinese Mainland-hong kong(CM-HK)***,social,economic,and political ties between hong kong and the Mainland of China,their economic and political interdependency,and a time series analysis of hong kong’s University Grants Committee(UGC)statistical data(local and non-local participation,geographic composition,and cost analysis of UGC-funded programs)are used to support what the author calls the“intra-nationalization of higher education.”This forms a unique internationalization strategy,whereby a sub-national region such as hong kong and possibly Macao,orients its internationalization strategy towards a motherland,in this case China.
