AIM： To study the effects of chitosan gel and blending chiston/gelatin film on preventing peritoneal adhesion in rats. METHODS： SD rats were randomly divided into 2 groups, group A treated with chitosan gel and group B with blending chiston/gelatin film. In group A, rats were randomly subdivided into 3 subgroups as groups A1, A2 and A3, and different methods were used to induce peritoneal adhesions at the dead end of vermiform process in each group as follows： Group A1 with trauma, A2 with talc powder and A3 with ligation of blood vessel. In each subgroup, rats were redivided into control group and experimental group whose treated vermiform processes were respectively coated with chitosan gel and normal saline immediately after the adhesioninduced treatments. In group B, all the rats received traumatic adhesion-induced treatments and then were randomly divided into 4 groups （groups B1, B2, B3, B4）. Group B1 served as control group and were coated with normal saline in the vermiform processes immediately after the treatments, and groups B2, B3 and B4 with 100% chitosan film, chitosan film containing 10% gelatin and chiston film containing 50% gelatin, respectively. At 2 and 4 wk after the above treatments, half of the rats in each terminal group were belly opened, and the peritoneal adhesive situation was graded and histopathological changes were examined. RESULTS：（1） In group A, regarding peritoneal adhesion situation： At both 2 and 4 wk after the treatments, for groups A1 and A3, the adhesive grades of experimental groups were significantly lower than those of the control group （2 wk： H = 4.305, P 〈 0.05 for A1, H = 6.743, P 〈 0.01 for A3; 4 wk： H = 4.459, P 〈 0.05 for A1, H =4.493, P 〈 0.05 for A3）. However, of group A2, there was no significant difference between the experimental and control groups （2 wk： H = 0.147, P 〉 0.05; 4 wk： H = 1.240, P 〉 0.05）. Regarding pathological changes： In groups A1 and A3, the main pathological change was fibroplasia. In group A2

1. Ten cases of lesions in the ureteral stump after 326 nephrectomiesare reported. Three cases were due to tumor recurrence, 3 to tuber-culous pyoureter, 2 to calculus and 2 to nonspecific infection resultingfrom congenital stricture in the lower end of the ureter. All of themwere successfully treated by removing the residual stumps.2. A brief review of the literature on the subject indicates thatdisease in the ureteral stump is not infrequent but is often missed clini-cally.3. The clinical manifestations, diagnosis, pathology and etiology ofthe condition are discussed.4. Preventive measures are listed and the indications for primarynephro-ureterectomy are discussed. It is advised that excision of a por-tion of the bladder wall around the ureteral orifice together with nephro-ureterectomy should be performed for papillary tumor involving the renalpelvis or ureter.

It has been demonstrated by a lot of clinical practice and experimental research that blood stasis is present in cases of asthma. In regard to the manifestations of asthma with blood stasis, medical doctors in our country carried out many investigations. The symptoms and signs of the disease are recognized consistently. Furthermore, they used blood rheological changes as laboratory indices to reach a more objective diagnosis. In the therapeutic aspect of asthma with blood stasis, either ancient recipes or those formulated by individual doctors have significant therapeutic effects. These are the important progress in the treatment and recognition of the pathogenic mechanisms of ***, in regard to the diagnosis of asthma with blood stasis, at present there are no unified criteria. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate relatively unified diagnostic criteria and the criteria for therapeutic effect evaluation. Doubtlessly, this is of great significance in further research of the disease. In addition, it is also necessary to carry out extensive experimental research concerning the mechanisms of the recipes with the actions of improving blood circulation and removing blood stasis, especially the ancient recipes or those prescribed by individual doctors, which arcscarcely based on systematic animal experimental research. These need to be further studied.

BACKGROUND Reports in the field of robotic surgery for rectal cancer are increasing year by ***,most of these studies enroll patients at a relatively early stage and have small sample *** fact,studies only on patients with locally advanced rectal cancer(LARC)and with relatively large sample sizes are *** To investigate whether the short-term outcomes differed between robotic-assisted proctectomy(RAP)and laparoscopic-assisted proctectomy(LAP)for *** The clinicopathological data of patients with LARC who underwent robotic-or laparoscopic-assisted radical surgery between January 2015 and October 2019 were collected *** reduce patient selection bias,we used the clinical baseline characteristics of the two groups of patients as covariates for propensity-score matching(PSM)***-term outcomes were compared between the two *** The clinical features were well matched in the PSM *** with the LAP group,the RAP group had less intraoperative blood loss,lower volume of pelvic cavity drainage,less time to remove the pelvic drainage tube and urinary catheter,longer distal resection margin and lower rates of conversion(P0.05).The rates of total complications and all individual complications were similar between the RAP and LAP groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION This retrospective study indicated that RAP is a safe and feasible method for LARC with better short-term outcomes than LAP,but we have to admit that the clinically significant of part of indicators are relatively small in the practical situation.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation （rTMS） has been utilized as a therapeutic tool for neurodegenerative disorders including Alzheimer＇s disease. However, the precise mechanisms of its clinical effects remain unknown. β-amyloid （Aβ） exhibits direct neurotoxic effects and is closely related to neuronal degeneration in Alzheimer＇s disease. Therefore, it has been hypothesized that the neuroprotective effects of rTMS are related to the mechanisms of protection against Aβ neurotoxicity. Organotypic hippocampal slices were prepared from 8-day old, Sprague Dawley rats. The tissue slices were exposed to 100 μmol/L Al3142 since day 12 in vitro with and without high-frequency （20 Hz） magnetic stimulation. Magnetic stimulation efficacy was evaluated by measuring neuronal nuclei （NeuN） protein expression and by observing cultures following propidium iodide fluorescence staining and bromodeoxyuridine （BrdU） immunohistochemistry. Lactate dehydrogenase activity was detected in the culture media to evaluate hippocampal neuronal damage. Our results demonstrated that high-frequency magnetic stimulation significantly reversed the reduction of NeuN protein expression because of Aβ1-42 exposure （P 〈 0.05） and significantly reduced the number of damaged cells in the hippocampal slices （P 〈 0.05）. However, lactate dehydrogenase levels and anti-BrdU staining results did not reveal any statistical differences These findings indicate that high-frequency magnetic stimulation might have protective effect on hippocampal neurons from Aβ1-42 neurotoxicity.

Orthodontically induced tooth root resorption(OIRR)is a serious complication during orthodontic *** cementum repair is the fundamental approach for the treatment of *** hormone(PTH)might be a potential therapeutic agent for OIRR,but its effects still lack direct evidence,and the underlying mechanisms remain *** study aims to explore the potential involvement of long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)in mediating the anabolic effects of intermittent PTH and contributing to cementum repair,as identifying lncRNA-disease associations can provide valuable insights for disease diagnosis and ***,we showed that intermittent PTH regulates cell proliferation and mineralization in immortalized murine cementoblast OCCM-30 via the regulation of the Wnt *** vivo,daily administration of PTH is sufficient to accelerate root regeneration by locally inhibiting Wnt/β-catenin *** RNA microarray analysis,lncRNA LITTIP(LGR6 intergenic transcript under intermittent PTH)is identified as a key regulator of cementogenesis under intermittent *** isolation by RNA purification(ChIRP)and RNA immunoprecipitation(RIP)assays revealed that LITTIP binds to mRNA of leucine-rich repeatcontaining G-protein coupled receptor 6(LGR6)and heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K(HnRNPK)*** cotransfection experiments confirmed that LITTIP plays a structural role in the formation of the LITTIP/Lgr6/HnRNPK ***,LITTIP is able to promote the expression of LGR6 via the RNA-binding protein ***,our results indicate that the intermittent PTH administration accelerates root regeneration via inhibiting Wnt *** lncRNA LITTIP is identified to negatively regulate cementogenesis,which activates Wnt/β-catenin signaling via high expression of LGR6 promoted by HnRNPK.

BACKGROUND Previous studies have found that hyperuricaemia(HUA)is closely related to intestinal flora *** The current study investigated the effects and safety of washed microbiota transplantation(WMT)on serum uric acid(SUA)levels in different *** A total of 144 patients who received WMT from July 2016 to April 2020 in the first Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and had SUA data before treatment were *** in SUA levels before and after treatment were retrospectively reviewed based on short-term and mid-term effects of WMT *** levels measured in the last test within 3 mo after the first WMT represented the short-term effect,and SUA levels measured in the last test within 3-6 mo after the first WMT represented the mid-term *** patients were divided into an HUA group(SUA>416μM)and a normal uric acid(NUA)group(SUA≥202μM to≤416μM)based on pretreatment SUA *** Average short-term SUA levels in the HUA group decreased after WMT(481.00±99.85 vs 546.81±109.64μM,n=32,Pfirst and second courses of WMT(469.74±97.68 vs 540.00±107.16μM,n=35,and 465.57±88.88 vs 513.19±78.14μM,n=21,Pfirst,second and third courses of WMT were similar to the levels before WMT in the NUA group(P>0.05).Only 1/144 patients developed mild diarrhea after *** WMT reduces short-term SUA levels in patients with HUA with mild side effects but has no obvious effect on SUA levels in patients with NUA.

Background： Tenofovir disoproxil （TDF） is a promising salvage therapy for patients with chronic hepatitis B （CHB） who failed regimens of other nucleoside analogues （NAs）. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy and safety ofTDF monotherapy in Chinese CHB patients with genotypic resistance. Methods： A total of 33 CHB patients who had tailed treatment with other NAs and had genotypic resistance were switched to TDF monotherapy for 48 weeks. Patients＇ demographic data （age, sex, history of hepatitis B virus [HBV] therapy）, laboratory testing results （hepatitis B e antigen [HBeAg] status, HBV DNA levels, alanine aminotransferase [ALT] levels, serum creatinine, urinary protein, genotypic assay）, clinical symptoms, and liver color ultrasound examinations were collected for evaluation at day 0 （baseline） and the 12th, 24th, 36th, and 48th weeks after initiating treatment. Statistical analyses were carried out using rank sum test or rank correlation. Results： With regard to efficacy, the study found that all patients who switched to TDF monotherapy had undetectable HBV DNA levels after 48 weeks. In addition, patients with lower baseline HBV DNA levels realized earlier virological undetectability （r = 0.39, P = 0.030）. AET levels were normal in 30 of 33 patients （91%）. HBeAg negative conversion occurred in 7 of 25 patients （28%）, among whom HBeAg seroconversion （12%） and H BeAg seroclearance （16%） occurred. The time of complete virological response was significantly affected by the number of resistance loci （r = 0.36, P = 0.040）. Concerning safety, the study found that no adverse events were observed during the 48 weeks. Conclusion： TDF monotherapy is an effective and safe salvage treatment for CHB patients who are resistant to other NAs.
