Endometritis affects the reproductive capacity of dairy cows and leads to serious economic losses in dairy *** of the pathogenesis of endometritis is necessary to improve the reproductive efficiency of dairy *** and their miRNAs have been proven to play an important role in inflammatory *** miR-218 is a differentially expressed miRNA found in endometrial epithelial cells(EECs)under endometrial ***,we investigated the expression of miR-218 in the uterine tissue of dairy cows,lipopolysaccharide(LPS)treated EECs,exosomal vesicles,and regulation of exosomal miR-218 by targeting TGIF-2 inducible factor homology frame 2(TGIF2)/transforming growth factor-beta(TGF-β).The expression of miR-218 was suppressed in inflammatory uterine tissues and LPS treated *** expression of TGIF2 and TGF-βin inflammatory uterine tissues and LPS treated EECs was significantly higher than those in healthy uterine tissues and EECs(p<0.01).Interestingly,miR-218 derived from donor cells was found to regulate the expression of the target gene TGIF2 in recipient cells through the fusion of ***,the expression of its target gene TGIF2 was also suppressed by miR-218 in donor cells resulting in fewer TGIF2 being transported into recipient cells with exosomal *** may be a novel mechanism of miRNAs-mediated regulation and provides a new reference for analyzing the pathogenesis of endometritis in dairy cows.

Wogonin is a plant flavonoid compound extracted from Scutellaria baicalensis(Huang-Qin or Chinese skullcap) and has been studied thoroughly by many researchers till date for its anti-viral, anti-oxidant, anti-cancerous and neuro-protective properties. Numerous experiments conducted in vitro and in vivo have demonstrated wogonin's excellent tumor inhibitory properties. The anticancer mechanism of wogonin has been ascribed to modulation of various cell signaling pathways, including serine-threonine kinase Akt(also known as protein kinase B) and AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK) pathways, p53-dependent/independent apoptosis, and inhibition of telomerase activity. Furthermore, wogonin also decreases DNA adduct formation with a carcinogenic compound 2-Aminofluorene and inhibits growth of drug resistant malignant cells and their migration and metastasis, without any side effects. Recently, newly synthesized wogonin derivatives have been developed with impressive anti-tumor activity. This review is the succinct appraisal of the pertinent articles on the mechanisms of anti-tumor properties of wogonin. We also summarize the potential of wogonin and its derivatives used alone or as an adjunct therapy for cancer treatment. Furthermore, pharmacokinetics and side effects of wogonin and its analogues have also been discussed.

Objective:To determine the seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii(***) infection in dogs and cats in Zhenjiang City,Jiangsu *** China,and to evaluate the main associated risk factors relating to exposure to 71 gondii in this ***:Sera from 160 clogs and 116 cats from Zhenjiang City were tested for *** antibodies using *** seropositivity by area of activity,sex and age was ***:Overall.21 dogs(13.l%) and 24 cats(20.7%) had antibodies to *** infection rate in stray dogs(38.7%) and cats(28.6%! was significantly higher(P0.05).A high proportion of dogs at 3 to 6 years of age were positive to ***(20.0%)while cats with relatively high seropositivity rates were at 0 to 1 year of age(33.3%).Conclusions:The prevalence of *** infection in dogs and cats in Zhenjiang City was high,which is probably the main source of *** infection in this area.

Effect of Soil Texture on Starch Accumulation and Activities of Key Enzymes of Starch Synthesis in the Kernel of ZM 9023

Three kinds of soil texture （clay-loam, mid-loam, and sand-loam soil） were used to study the effects of soil texture on starch accumulating rate and the changes in activities of the key enzymes of starch synthesis in the kernel during grain filling in high gluten content wheat ZM 9023, under conditions of pond culture. The content of starch and its components were measured according to the method of double-wave length described by Bao （1996）. ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase （AGPP） activity was tested according to the method described by Doehlert et al. （1988）. Soluble starch synthase （SSS） and starch branching enzyme （SBE） activities were tested according to the method described by Nakamura et al. （1989）. The amylose, amylopectin, and total starch accumulating rate in the kernel of ZM 9023 were found to be a single-peak curve in three different soil textures during grain filling, and peaked 20, 15, and 15 d after anthesis, respectively. The activities of the enzymes, AGPP, SSS, and SBE, in the kernel of ZM 9023 had a single-peaked curve, which peaked 20, 15, and 15 d after anthesis, respectively. The activities of the above three enzymes of ZM 9023 were higher in the sand-loam soil. The accumulating peak of amylose formed later compared to that of amylopectin. The sand-loam soil could help high gluten content cultivars to synthesize starch.

Four environmemtal service functions of wheat, barley and rape ecosystem are evaluated in material production, air adjustment (including carbon dioxide fixation and oxygen release in Tibetan Autonomous Region), water conservation, and nutrient recycling. Based on it the economic loss of environment due to desertification is valued. The results show that the service functions of farmland ecosystem in Tibet are totally valued at 4 436. 2 × 106 yuan, the value of each service function is ordered as: air adjustment 2 070.2× 106 yuan (46.67%), material production 2 011. 1× 106 yuan (45.33%), nutrient recycling 193. 1×106 yuan (4.35%), and water conservation 161. 8×106 yuan (3.65%). The total area of wheat, barley and rape in Tibet is over 189 700 ha, and the service function of farmland ecosystem is valued at 23 386 yuan/ha per year. The degraded area of arable land in Tibet is about 1 082 ha per year, equivalent to the annual loss of farmland ecosystem service value of 25.3×106 yuan. Over the past 30 years the total loss of the value is 1 347.0×106 yuan.

Objective:To investigate the detection and sequencing of plasmid encoded tetracycline resistance genes(tet A and tet B) from food-borne and standard strains of Bacillus cereus(B. cereus).Methods:PCR was carried out to detect the tetracycline resistance genes(tet A and tet B) in food-borne *** strains and the amplified products were ***:The phenotypic resistance against tetracycline was observed in 39 of the 118 food-borne isolates and two reference strains(MTCC 430 and MTCC 1307) of *** the phenotypically resistant isolates,tet A was detected in 36 food-borne isolates and two reference strains(MTCC 430 and MTCC 1307).whereas,tel B was detected in 12 food-bome isolates and MTCC 1307 strain. Conclusions:A close association was therefore found between phenotypic resistance against tetracycline and presence of tetracycline resistance *** tet A and tet B gene fragments were amplified,purified and *** gene sequences of the isolates studied herein were found similar to tetA and tetB gene sequences of other bacteria available in *** occurrence of tetA and tetB genes in *** indicate the horizontal transfer of antibiotic resistance determinants from other bacteria into *** transfer of these resistant determinants to other potentially pathogenic bacteria may be a matter of great concern.

Effects of taurine and housing density on renal function in laying hens

This study investigated the putative protective effects of supplemental 2-aminoethane sulfonic acid（taurine） and reduced housing density on renal function in laying hens. We randomly assigned fifteen thousand green-shell laying hens into three groups： a free range group, a low-density caged group, and a high-density caged group. Each group was further divided equally into a control group（C） and a taurine treatment group（T）. After 15 d, we analyzed histological changes in kidney cells, inflammatory mediator levels, oxidation and anti-oxidation levels. Experimental data revealed taurine supplementation, and rearing free range or in low-density housing can lessen morphological renal damage, inflammatory mediator levels, and oxidation levels and increase anti-oxidation levels. Our data demonstrate that taurine supplementation and a reduction in housing density can ameliorate renal impairment, increase productivity, enhance health, and promote welfare in laying hens.
