Hydrogel scaffolds have numerous potential applications in the tissue engineering ***,tough hydrogel scaffolds implanted in vivo are seldom reported because it is difficult to balance biocompatibility and high mechanical *** by Chinese ramen,we propose a universal fabricating method(printing-P,training-T,cross-linking-C,PTC&PCT)for tough hydrogel scaffolds to fill this ***,3D printing fabricates a hydrogel scaffold with desired structures(P).Then,the scaffold could have extraordinarily high mechanical properties and functional surface structure by cycle mechanical training with salting-out assistance(T).Finally,the training results are fixed by photo-cross-linking processing(C).The tough gelatin hydrogel scaffolds exhibit excellent tensile strength of 6.66 MPa(622-fold untreated)and have excellent ***,this scaffold possesses functional surface structures from nanometer to micron to millimeter,which can efficiently induce directional cell ***,this strategy can produce bionic human tissue with mechanical properties of 10 kPa-10 MPa by changing the type of salt,and many hydrogels,such as gelatin and silk,could be improved with PTC or PCT *** experiments show that this scaffold can effectively promote the new generation of muscle fibers,blood vessels,and nerves within 4 weeks,prompting the rapid regeneration of large-volume muscle loss injuries.

High-mobility group box 1 was first discovered in the calf thymus as a DNA-binding nuclear protein and has been widely studied in diverse fields,including neurology and ***-mobility group box 1 in the extracellular space functions as a pro-inflammatory damage-associated molecular pattern,which has been proven to play an important role in a wide variety of central nervous system disorders such as ischemic stroke,Alzheimer’s disease,frontotemporal dementia,Parkinson’s disease,multiple sclerosis,epilepsy,and traumatic brain *** drugs that inhibit high-mobility group box 1 as a damage-associated molecular pattern,such as glycyrrhizin,ethyl pyruvate,and neutralizing anti-high-mobility group box 1 antibodies,are commonly used to target high-mobility group box 1 activity in central nervous system *** it is commonly known for its detrimental inflammatory effect,high-mobility group box 1 has also been shown to have beneficial pro-regenerative roles in central nervous system *** this narrative review,we provide a brief summary of the history of high-mobility group box 1 research and its characterization as a damage-associated molecular pattern,its downstream receptors,and intracellular signaling pathways,how high-mobility group box 1 exerts the repair-favoring roles in general and in the central nervous system,and clues on how to differentiate the pro-regenerative from the pro-inflammatory *** targeting high-mobility group box 1 in the central nervous system may benefit from differentiating between the two functions rather than overall suppression of high-mobility group box 1.

Prognostic role of pretreatment serum ferritin concentration in lung cancer patients:A meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The association between pretreatment serum ferritin concentration(sFC)and long-term survival in lung cancer remains unclear *** To identify the prognostic value of pretreatment sFC in lung cancer patients based on current *** The PubMed,EMBAsE and Web of science databases were searched from inception to May 29,2022 for relevant *** primary endpoint was overall survival(Os)and the hazard ratios(HRs)with corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were combined to assess the predictive role of pretreatment sFC for long-term survival of lung cancer *** data were then extracted and assessed on the basis of the Reference Citation Analysis(https://*** ***/).REsULTs Twelve retrospective studies involving 1654 patients were *** results manifested that increased pretreatment sFC was associated with worse Os(HR=1.09,95%CI:1.03-1.15,P=0.004).subgroup analysis stratified by the country(China vs non-China)showed similar ***,subgroup analysis stratified by tumor type revealed inconsistent results(lung cancer:HR=1.39,P=0.008;small cell lung cancer:HR=1.99,P=0.175;non-small cell lung cancer:HR=1.03,P=0.281).CONCLUsION Pretreatment sFC might serve as a promising prognostic indicator in lung cancer patients and elevated pretreatment sFC predicts worse ***,more high-quality studies with big sample sizes are still needed to further verify its prognostic value in lung cancer.

Colorectal adenocarcinoma patients with M1a diseases gain more clinical benefits from palliative primary tumor resection than those with M1b diseases: A propensity score matching analysis

BACKGROUND The inverse association between systemic immune-inammation index(sII)and overall survival in tumors has been *** To evaluate the hematological indexes for assessing the activity of ulcerative colitis(UC).METHODs In this case-control study,172 UC patients and healthy participants were *** were made among groups of white blood cells,hemoglobin,platelets,neutrophils,lymphocytes,monocytes,sII,neutrophil-tolymphocyte ratio(NLR),and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR).The relationship with hematological inflammation was verified by spearman correlation *** efficiency of sII,NLR,and PLR for distinguishing between UC and severe disease status was assessed by the receiver operator curve and logistic regression *** The values of sII,NLR,and PLR were higher in UC patients than in controls(P1)and were positively correlated with the Mayo endoscopic score,extent,Degree of Ulcerative Colitis Burden of Luminal Inflammation(DUBLIN)score,and Ulcerative Colitis Endoscopic Index of severity(UCEIs).The cut-off NLR value of 562.22 predicted UC with a sensitivity of 79.65%and a specificity of 76.16%.Logistic regression analysis revealed that patients with sII and NLR levels above the median had a significantly higher risk of UC(Psk factors independently associated with DUBLIN≥3 included sII≥1776.80[odds ratio(OR)=11.53,P=0.027]and NLR value of 2.67-4.23(OR=2.96,P=0.047)on multivariate *** with the first quartile,sII≥1776.80 was an independent predictor of UCEIs≥5(OR=18.46,P=0.012).CONCLUsION sII has a certain value in confirming UC and identifying its activity.

Increased index of microcirculatory resistance in older patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

Objective To study the coronary microvascular function in older patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) using an invasive pressure–temperature sensor guidewire. Methods Patients undergoing echocardiography and cardiac catheterization examinations for exertional dyspnea and a positive stress test were retrospectively enrolled from January 2014 to November 2017, and were allocated into the control group or HFpEF group. The HFpEF group was secondary divided into two groups according to the age of 65 years. Comparing the clinical features and values obtained in examinations between the three groups, multivariate regression analysis was used to analyze the predictors of left ventricle end diastolic pressure (LVEDP). Results There were 87 patients enrolled in this study. The older HFpEF patients (n = 32) were more likely to be female;and had the most comorbidities, such as diabetes mellitus, atrial fibrillation, and chronic kidney dysfunction (CKD) with a low estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), and had a similar hypertensive prevalence as the adult HFpEF group (n = 24), whose mean LVEDP and index of microcirculatory resistance (IMR) were highest in comparison to the adult HFpEF patients and controls (n = 31). The coronary flow reserve (CFR) in the older HFpEF and adult HFpEF groups was similarly reduced. In the regression analysis, the IMR linearly correlated to LVEDP, and was the only independent predictor of LVEDP. Conclusions An increased IMR and reduced CFR were characteristics of microvascular dysfunction in older HFpEF patients. The IMR independently had a positive linear correlation with LVEDP. Microvascular rarefaction might be a subsequent pathological progression in the development of HFpEF.
