Comparative investigations of structure and properties of micro-arc wollastonite-calcium phosphate coatings on titanium and zirconiumniobium alloy

Investigation results of micro-arc wollastoniteecalcium phosphate(W-CaP)biocoatings on the pure titanium(Ti)and Zr-1wt.%Nb(Zr-1Nb)alloy were *** voltages of 150-300 V generate the micro-arc oxidation(MAo)process with the initial amplitude current of 150-550 A and 100-350 A for Ti and Zr-1Nb substrates,*** identical dependencies of changes of the coating thickness,surface roughness and adhesion strength on the process voltage were revealed for the both *** W-CaP coatings with the thickness of 10-11μm were formed on Ti and Zr-1Nb under the low process voltage of 130-150 *** wollastonite particles with the size in the range of 40-100μm were observed in such *** structure of the coatings on Ti was presented by the X-ray a.o.phous and crystalline *** X-ray reflexes relating to the crystalline phases of Ti and wollastonite were observed only in XRD patterns of the coatings deposited under 130-200 V on ***,the crystalline structure with phases of CaZr4(Po4)6,β-ZrP2o7,Zro2,and Zr was detected in the coatings on ***-IRS,XRD,SEM,and TEM data confirmed that the increase of the process voltage to 300 V leads to the dissociation of the *** toxic effect of specimens on a viability,morphology and motility of human adipose-derived multipotent mesenchymal stem cells was revealed in vitro.

326 species of spiders belonging to 26 families are recorded from the Bolshekhekhtsyrski State Nature Reserve,of them 70 are new records for the reserve and six are new to the fauna.o. Russia:Asperthorax borealis ono et Saito,2001; Cyclosa kumadai Tanikawa,1992; Cyclosa.o.umae Tanikawa,1992(earlier it was identified as C. argenteoalba Bosenberg et Strand,1906); Haplodrassus taepaikensis Paik,1992; Hypselistes fossilobus Fei et Zhu,1993; and Pachygnatha gaoi Zhu et al.,2003. The name Pronous minutus (S. Saito,1939) is synonymized with Pronoides brunneus Schenkel,1936. The male of H. taepaikensis is illustrated for the first time. Composition of the fauna is briefly discussed; 41% of the recorded species have their ranges confined to the SE Palaearctics. By its species diversity,the reserve's fauna is the second largest local fauna eastward of the Urals. An expected spider diversity of this reserve is likely to be over 400 species.

optical immersion clearing is a technique that has been widely studied for more than two decades and that is used to originate a temporary transparency effect in biological *** applied in cooperation with clinical methods it provides optimization of diagnosis and treatment *** technique turns biological tissues more transparent through two main mechanisms-tissue dehydration and refractive index(RI)matching between tissue *** matching is obtained by partial replacement of interstit ial water by a biocompat ible agent that presents higher RI and it can be completely rever sible by natural rehydration in vrivo or by assisted rehydration in ex vivo *** data to characterize and discriminate between the two mechanisms and to find new ones are *** a simple method,based on collimated transmittance and thickness measurements made from muscle samples under treatment,we have estimated the diffusion properties of glucose,ethylene glycol(EG)and water that were used to perform such char acterization and *** these properties with data from literature that characterize their diffusion in water we have observed that musde cell membrane permeability limits agent and water diffusion in the *** same experi-mental data has allowed to calculate the optical dearing(oC)eficiency and make an inter-pretation of the internal changes that occurred in muscle during the *** same methodology can now be used to perform similar studies with other agents and in other tissues in order to solve engineering problems at design of inexpensive and robust technologies for a *** improvement of optical tomogr aphic techmiques with better contrast and in depth imaging.

The current research is devoted to the study of the modification of the titanium implants by the micro-arc oxidation with bioactive calcium phosphate coatings containing Ag or Sr and Si *** coatings’microstructure,phase composition,morphology,physicochemical and biological properties were examined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Ag-containing and Sr-Si-incorporated coatings were formed in alkaline and acid electrolytes,*** formation of the coatings occurred at different ranges of the applied voltages,which led to the significant difference in the coatings *** trace elements Ag,Sr and Si participated intensively in the plasma-chemical reactions of the micro-arc coatings ***-containing coatings demonstrated strong antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus AТСС*** in vitro test with 3T3-L1 fibroblasts showed no cytotoxicity appearance on Sr-Si-incorporated coatings.

optical spectroscopy can be used to quickly characterise the structural properties of individual ***,it cannot be applied to biological assemblies because light is generally blind to the spatial distribution of the component *** insensitivity arises from the mismatch in length scales between the assemblies(a few tens of nm)and the wavelength of light required to excite chromophores(≥150 nm).Consequently,with conventional spectroscopy,ordered assemblies,such as the icosahedral capsids of viruses,appear to be indistinguishable isotropic spherical *** limits potential routes to rapid high-throughput portable detection appropriate for point-of-care ***,we demonstrate that chiral electromagnetic(EM)near fields,which have both enhanced chiral asymmetry(referred to as superchirality)and subwavelength spatial localisation(∼10 nm),can detect the icosahedral structure of virus ***,they can detect both the presence and relative orientation of a bound virus *** illustrate the potential uses of the exquisite structural sensitivity of subwavelength superchiral fields,we have used them to successfully detect virus particles in the complex milieu of blood serum.

Serum levels of angiotensin converting enzyme as a biomarker of liver fibrosis

The renin angiotensin system(ras) is classically conceived as a circulating hormonal system involved in blood pressure control and hydroelectrolyte balance. The discovery that ras components are locally expressed in a wide range of organs and tissues,including the liver,pointed to a role for this system in the pathogenesis of several conditions including hepatic fibrosis and cirrhosis. It has been widely reported that the classical ras axis composed by the angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)-angiotensin(Ang) Ⅱ-Ang type 1(AT1) receptor mediates pro-inflamma.o.y,pro-thrombotic,and pro-fibrotic processes. on the other hand,the alternative axis comprising ACE2-Ang-(1-7)-Mas receptor seems to play a protective role by frequently opposing Ang Ⅱ action. Chronic hepatitis B(CHB) is one of the leading causes of liver fibrosis,accounting for the death of nearly one million people worldwide. Liver fibrosis is a key factor to determine therapeutic interventions for patients with CHB. However,the establishment of non-invasive and accurate methods to detect reversible stages of liver fibrosis is still a challenge. In an elegant study published in the 36 th issue of the World Journal of Gastroenterology,Noguchi et al showed the predictive value of serum ACE levels in detecting not only advanced stages of liver fibrosis but also initial and intermediate fibrotic stages. The serum levels of ACE might represent an accurate,non-invasive,widely available,and easy method to evaluate fibrosis related to CHB. Moreover,therapies involving the inhibition of the classical ras axis components might be promising in the control of CHB-related liver fibrosis.

Construction and packaging of pseudotype retrovirus containing human N-ras cDNA antisense sequence and its biological effects on human hepa.o.a cells

N-ras is one of the transforming genes in human hepatic cancer cells. It has been found that N-ras was overexpressed at the mRNA and protein level in hepa.o.a cells. In order to explore the biological roles of N-ras in human hepatic carcinogenesis and the potential application in control of cancer cell growth, a pseudotype retrovirus containing antisense sequence of human N-ras was constructed and packaged. A recombinant retrovirus vector containing antisense or sense sequences of N-ras cDNA was constructed by pZIP-NeoSV (Ⅹ) 1. The pseudotype virus was packaged and rescued by transfection and infection in PAand ψ2 helper cells, It has been demonstrated that the pseudotype retrovirus containing antisense N-ras sequence did inhibit the growth of human PLC/PRF/5 hepa.o.a cells aceompanied with inhibition of p21 expression, while the retrovirus containing sense sequence had none. The pseudotype virus had no effect on human diploid fibroblasts.

The article presents the results of experimental research for final treatment of gold mining enterprise waste waters using water lentil（Lemna minor） of（Lemna L.） genus,（Lemnactat S.F. Gray） family, and common red grass（Phrágmites austrális（Cav.） Trin. Ex Steud.）. It was shown that a level of heavy metals extraction, cyanides and rhodanides from the industrial waters of gold processing plant is greatly higher in comparison with chemical method used at the plant. The proposals are given to the gold mining enterprise to establish a pilot plant for final biological treatment, its novelty is confirmed by the Patent of Russian Federation of 20.01.2014.
