BACKGROUND Multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria,exacerbated by excessive use of antimicrobials and immunosuppressants,are a major health *** To study the clinical efficacy and safety of colistin sulfate in the treatment of carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacilli-induced pneumonia,and to provide theoretical reference for clinical diagnosis and *** this retrospective analysis involved 54 patients with Gram-negative bacilli pneumonia admitted to intensive care unit of the General hospital of the Northern theater Command of the people's Liberation Army of China from August 2020 to June *** bacteriological culture,the patients'airway secretions were collected to confirm the presence of Gram-negative *** patients were divided into the experimental and control groups according to the medication *** research group consisted of 28 patients who received polymyxin sulfate combined with other drugs through intravenous,nebulization,or intravenous combined with nebulization,with a daily dosage of 1.5–3.0 million *** control group consisted of 26 patients who received standard dosages of other antibiotics(including sulbactam sodium for injection,cefoperazone sodium sulbactam for injection,tigecycline,meropenem,or vaborbactam).REsULTs Of the 28 patients included in the research group,26 patients showed improvement,treatment was ineffective for two patients,and one patient died,with the treatment efficacy rate of 92.82%.Of the 26 patients in the control group,18 patients improved,treatment was ineffective for eight patients,and two patients died,with the treatment efficacy rate of 54.9%;significant difference was observed between the two groups(Pthe levels of white blood cell(WBC),procalcitonin(PCT),and C-reactive protein(CRP)in both groups were significantly lower after treatment than before treatment(Pthe levels of WBC,PCT,and CRP in the research group were significantly lower than those in the control group

As the search for effective treatments for COVID-19 continues,the high mortality rate among critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units(ICU)presents a profound *** study explores the potential benefits of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)as a supplementary treatment for severe COVID-19.A total of 110 critically ill COVID-19 patients at the Intensive Care Unit(ICU)of Vulcan Hill hospital between Feb.,2020,and April,2020(Wuhan,China)participated in this observational *** patients received standard supportive care protocols,with a subset of 81 also receiving TCM as an adjunct *** characteristics during the treatment period and the clinical outcome of each patient were closely monitored and *** findings indicated that the TCM group exhibited a significantly lower mortality rate compared with the non-TCM group(16 of 81 vs 24 of 29;0.3 vs 2.3 person/month).In the adjusted Cox proportional hazards models,TCM treatment was associated with improved survival odds(Pthermore,the analysis also revealed that TCM treatment could partially mitigate inflammatory responses,as evidenced by the reduced levels of proinflammatory cytokines,and contribute to the recovery of multiple organic functions,thereby potentially increasing the survival rate of critically ill COVID-19 patients.

BACKGROUND Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the most common liver disease worldwide,affecting about 1/4th of the global population and causing a huge global economic *** date,no drugs have been approved for the treatment of NAFLD,making the correction of unhealthy lifestyles the principle method of *** patients with poor adherence to lifestyle correction and attempting to improve their adherence are therefore very *** To develop and validate a scale that can rapidly assess the adherence of patients with NAFLD to lifestyle *** the Exercise and Diet Adherence scale(EDAs)was designed based on com-pilation using the Delphi method,and its reliability was subsequently *** and laboratory indicators were measured,and patients completed the EDAs questionnaire at baseline and after 6 *** efficacy of the EDAs was evaluated in the initial ***,the efficacy of the EDAs was internally verified in a validation *** the EDAs consisted of 33 items in six dimensions,with a total of 165 *** EDAs score correlated significantly with daily number of exercise and daily reduction in calorie intake(Pth overall weight loss.A total score of 116 was excellent in predicting adherence to daily reduction in calorie intake(>500 kacl/d),(sensitivity/specificity was 100.0%/75.8%),while patients score below 97 could nearly rule out the possibility of daily exercise(sensitivity/specificity was 89.5%/44.4%).Total EDAs scores≥116,97-115,and7 points were indicative of good,average,and poor adherence,respectively,to diet and exercise *** the EDAs can reliably assess the adherence of patients with NAFLD to lifestyle interventions and have clinical application in this population.
