As the search for effective treatments for COVID-19 continues,the high mortality rate among critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units(ICU)presents a profound *** study explores the potential benefits of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)as a supplementary treatment for severe COVID-19.A total of 110 critically ill COVID-19 patients at the Intensive Care Unit(ICU)of Vulcan Hill hospital between Feb.,2020,and April,2020(Wuhan,China)participated in this observational *** patients received standard supportive care protocols,with a subset of 81 also receiving TCM as an adjunct *** characteristics during the treatment period and the clinical outcome of each patient were closely monitored and *** findings indicated that the TCM group exhibited a significantly lower mortality rate compared with the non-TCM group(16 of 81 vs 24 of 29;0.3 vs 2.3 person/month).In the adjusted Cox proportional hazards models,TCM treatment was associated with improved survival odds(Pthermore,the analysis also revealed that TCM treatment could partially mitigate inflammatory responses,as evidenced by the reduced levels of proinflammatory cytokines,and contribute to the recovery of multiple organic functions,thereby potentially increasing the survival rate of critically ill COVID-19 patients.

Xiao Tan San Jie Fang Hampers the Growth of Colon Cancer Stem Cells through the Wnt/β-catenin Signaling Pathway

Objective: the purpose of this research was to examine the potential anticancer properties of Xiao Tan San Jie Fang(XTSJF) and its potential mechanism of action against colorectal cancer. Materials and Methods: HCT116 cells were induced into HCT116 spheres in DMEM/F12 medium by treatment with epidermal growth factor + fibroblast growth factor + leukemia inhibitory factor + B27. the proliferation ability and stemness of HCT116 spheres was examined. Various concentrations of XTSJF were used to treat HCT116 spheres to observe the impact on proliferation, apoptosis, and expression of stem cell markers. Next, Wnt/β-catenin pathway-related factor proteins were detected. Results: the findings revealed that XTSJF suppressed cell growth and induced cell death in HCT116 cells in a dosage-dependent manner. Similarly, XTSJF promotes apoptosis, inhibits cell proliferation, prolongs survival, and maintains the expression of stem cells through the Wnt/-catenin/TCF4 axis. XTSJF also inhibits AKT activity and subsequently activates glycogen synthesis kinase-3β expression, inhibiting Wnt/beta-catenin pathway activity and downstream target gene transcript expression. the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is inhibited by the XTSJF, leading to the suppression of colon cancer stem cell proliferation. Conclusion: Xiaotan Sanjie Prescription inhibited colon cancer stem cell growth through Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.

Effects of OGFOD1 in bladder cancer progression and its prognostic significance:Insights from bioinformatics analysis

A serial case study of the combined use of intraoperative CT and surgical navigation system for the removal of small foreign bodies in the maxillofacial region

Purpose:the removal of small foreign bodies embedded within the deep soft tissues of the maxillofacial region is a complex and challenging task for maxillofacial *** purpose of this study was to explore the efficacy of the combination of intraoperative CT and surgical navigation for the removal of small foreign objects in the maxillofacial ***:A serial case study was conducted involving all consecutive patients who underwent surgical removal of small foreign bodies in the maxillofacial *** combination of intraoperative CT and a surgical navigation system was used at a single medical institution from January 2018 to December *** data,including patient demographics,characteristics of the foreign bodies,previous surgical interventions,duration of the surgical procedure,and removal success rate were collected for this *** data were recorded into Microsoft Excel sheet and analyzed using SPSS version ***:Nine patients(6 males and 3 females)were included in this study,with an average age of 37 *** patient had previously undergone an unsuccessful removal attempt utilizing conventional surgical methods based on preoperative CT imaging or C-arm guidance at a local healthcare *** patients also experienced unsuccessful attempts with preoperative CT image-based navigation ***,by employing the combined approach of intraoperative CT and surgical navigation,the foreign bodies were successfully removed in all 9 *** mean duration of the surgical procedure was 59 min,and the average size of the foreign bodies was approximately 26 mm^(3).Postoperative follow-up exceeding 6 months revealed no ***:the combined use of a surgical navigation system and intraoperative CT represents a potent and effective strategy for the precise localization and subsequent removal of small foreign bodies from the soft tissue structures of the maxillofacial *** integrative approach

Objective:To analyze the clinical and laboratory indices of patients with lupus nephritis(LN)of different pathological types and explore the related factors of LN pathological classification,it is helpful to grasp the timing of renal ***:the clinical manifestations,laboratory parameters and renal pathological types of LN patients in recent 20 years were analyzed retrospectively by SPSS 26.0 ***:In this study,the first three pathological types were V,IV,V+IV;latent nephritis was common in type II and V;nephritic syndrome was common in type V;nephrotic syndrome was common in type V+IV;chronic renal insufficiency group was mostly type IV;pathological types were correlated with serum creatinine,C3,albumin and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(r=0.315,Pthological ***:LN is closely related to clinical pathology,clinical manifestations,comprehensive analysis of laboratory indicators and SLEDAI score to make a preliminary prediction of LN pathological type,help to initially assess the severity of pathology,improve the timing of renal biopsy implementation,optimize the timing of treatment.

Utilizing bioinformatics for integrated analysis of multiple genes in the diagnosis and pathogenesis of metastatic pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma
