In this paper,modeling and machine learning with experimental data and a novel calibration function for a gas-solid flow sensor fusion are *** fusion is the use of software that intelligently combines data from multiple sensors in order to improve overall system *** technique can be applied to measurement of mass flow rate of solids in a pipeline with non-intrusive electrostatic *** fusion from multiple heterogeneous/homogenous sensors can overcome the limitations of an individual sensor and measured *** is shown that the output voltage of a ring-shaped electrode is predominantly a function of solids mass flow rate and velocity for a flow of bulk solids in a pipeline,when particle size,properties and ambient conditions remain *** incorporating solids flow velocity in a proposed mathematical model(obtained via machine learning),meter output voltage could be predicted with superior accuracy,for wide range of different flow pa-rameters from numerous experiments with a pneumatic conveying *** the model yields a new calibration function which,when deployed in signal processing software,enables accurate mass flow measure-ment with velocity *** described method also de-necessitates determination of air solids ratio or solids volumetric concentration,thereby enabling simplification of the overall measurement system whilst yielding higher accuracy than calibration methods from previous *** flow measurement facilitates enhanced monitoring and controllability of blast furnaces,power stations,chemical reactors,process plants *** there are bulk solids flows in *** of such highly materially consumptive and energy intensive processes can yield significant reductions in waste and emissions(CO 2,NOx)and increased efficiencies in global production of energy and materials.

The selection and scaling of ground motion records is considered a primary and essential task in performing structural analysis and *** methods involve using ground motion models and a conditional spectrum to select ground motion records based on the target *** research demonstrates the influence of adopting different weighted factors for various period ranges during matching selected ground motions with the target hazard *** event data from the Next Generation Attenuation West 2(NGA-West 2)database is used as the basis for ground motion selection,and hazard de-aggregation is conducted to estimate the event parameters of interest,which are then used to construct the target intensity measure(IM).The target IMs are then used to select ground motion records with different weighted vector-valued objective *** weights are altered to account for the relative importance of IM in accordance with the structural analysis application of steel moment resisting frame(SMRF)*** of an ordinary objective function for the matching spectrum,a novel model is introduced and compared with the conventional cost *** results indicate that when applying the new cost function for ground motion selection,it places higher demands on structures compared to the conventional cost ***,submitting more weights to the first-mode period of structures increases engineering demand *** demonstrate that weight factors allocated to different period ranges can successfully account for period elongation and higher mode effects.

Background:Physical activity(PA)in the early years is associated with a range of positive health *** motor skill(FMS)competence is associated with PA and is theorized to be driven by PA in the early years and vice versa in mid to late ***,to date,no studies have meta-analyzed the association between PA and FMS in the early ***:Six electronic databases were searched for articles published up to April ***-sectional and longitudinal studies were included if they targeted children(ages 3-6 year)as the population of the study and assessed the association between objectively measured PA and *** FMS,total physical activity(TPA),and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA)data were meta-analyzed using a random effects ***:We identified 24,815 titles and *** total,19 studies met the inclusion criteria,including 14 cross-sectional and 4 longitudinal studies,as well as 1 study with cross-sectional and longitudinal *** was a significant but small positive association between FMS and MVPA(r=0.20,95%confidence interval(CI):0.13-0.26)and TPA(r=0.20,95%CI:0.12-0.28).Findings from longitudinal studies revealed that PA drives FMS in early *** was explored in 1 study,which found that perceived motor competence did not mediate the association between FMS and ***:Using a meta-analysis,this study is the first to show a positive association between FMS,MVPA,and TPA in the early years of childhood,suggesting that the association begins at an early *** evidence from longitudinal studies supports the theory that PA drives FMS in the early years of *** evidence is needed from large studies to track PA and FMS until mid to late childhood and to explore the mediators of this association.

Vigorous particle collisions and mechanical processes occurring during high-velocity pneumatic con- veying often lead to particle degradation. The resulting particle size reduction and particle number increase will impact on the flow characteristics, and subsequently affect the electrostatic type of flow measurements. This study investigates this phenomenon using both experimental and numerical meth- ods. Particle degradation was induced experimentally by recursively conveying the fillite material within a pneumatic pipeline. The associated particle size reduction was monitored. Three electrostatic sensors were embedded along the pipeline to monitor the flow. The results indicated a decreasing trend in the electrostatic sensor outputs with decreasing particle size, which suggested the attenuation of the flow velocity fluctuation. This trend was more apparent at higher conveying velocities, which suggested that more severe particle degradation occurred under these conditions. Coupled computational fluid dynamics and discrete element methods （CFD-DEM） analysis was used to qualitatively validate these experimental results. The numerical results suggested that smaller particles exhibited lower flow velocity fluctua- tions, which was consistent with the observed experimental results. These findings provide important information for the accurate aoolication of electrostatic measurement devices in oneumatic conveyors.

A two-dimensional discrete element model （DEM） simulation of cohesive polygonal particles has been developed to assess the benefit of point source vibration to induce flow in wedge-shaped hoppers. The particle-particle interaction model used is based on a multi-contact principle. The first part of the study investigated particle discharge under gravity without vibration to determine the critical orifice size （Bc） to just sustain flow as a function of particle shape. It is shown that polygonal-shaped particles need a larger orifice than circular particles. It is also shown that Bc decreases as the number of particle vertices increases. Addition of circular particles promotes flow of polygons in a linear manner. The second part of the study showed that vibration could enhance flow, effectively reducing Bc. The model demonstrated the importance of vibrator location （height）, consistent with previous continuum model results, and vibration amplitude in enhancing flow.
