Optimization of adaptive traffic signal timing is one of the most complex problems in traffic control systems. This paper presents an adaptive transit signal priority （TSP） strategy that applies the parallel genetic algorithm （PGA） to optimize adaptive traffic signal control in the presence of TSP. The method can optimize the phase plan, cycle length, and green splits at isolated intersections with consideration for the performance of both the transit and the general vehicles. A VISSIM （VISual SIMulation） simulation testbed was developed to evaluate the performance of the proposed PGA-based adaptive traffic signal control with TSP. The simulation results show that the PGA-based optimizer for adaptive TSP outperformed the fully actuated NEMA control in all test cases. The results also show that the PGA-based optimizer can produce TSP timing plans that benefit the transit vehicles while minimizing the impact of TSP on the general vehicles.

The Sunshine Lake/Sunrise Waterway System, located in Southwest Florida （USA） previously experienced extensive and persistent algal blooms, with noxious odors and deep organic-rich sediments. This algal bloom was addressed via a lake-wide dredging project to remove the material from the lake bottom. A contributing factor to the algal bloom is elevated phosphorus in stormwater runoff, likely due to naturally phosphorus-rich geology in the surrounding watershed. Due to the naturally elevated phosphorus supply, excessive nutrient loads will likely continue in the future. An ongoing monitoring program, initiated after the dredging of the lake, determined that a type of algae （Chara sp,） other than that which caused the initial bloom had established itself by October 2015. This plant biomass is considered an alternative destination for incoming nutrient loads, and as such should be managed, rather than eliminated via the use of herbicides. The abundance and nutrient content of the mass of Chara sp. in the lake and waterway was estimated, and the amount of external nutrient load that would be removed from the lake with physical harvesting of Chara sp. was quantified. The cost-effectiveness of nutrient removal via physical harvesting of Chara sp. was then compared against typical stormwater treatment ponds.

BACKGROUND Marginal zone lymphoma(MZL)is an indolent non-Hodgkin B cell lymphoma with various architectural pattern including perifollicular,follicular colonization,nodular,micronodular,and diffuse patterns.A sclerotic variant has not been previously reported and represents a diagnostic *** SUMMARY A 66-year-old male developed left upper extremity *** computed tomography(CT)in September 2020 showed 14 cm mass in left *** core biopsy of axillary lymph node showed sclerotic tissue with atypical B lymphoid infiltrate but was *** biopsy was performed for diagnosis and showed extensive fibrosis and minor component of infiltrating B *** cytometry showed a small population of CD5-,CD10-,kappa restricted B *** immunoglobulin heavy chain and light chain gene rearrangement were *** being diagnosed with MZL,patient was treated with rituximab,cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine,and prednisone and achieved complete remission by positron emission tomography/*** This is an important case report because by morphology this case could have easily been overlooked as non-specific fibrosis with chronic inflammation representing a significant diagnostic ***,this constitutes a new architectural *** sclerotic lymphomas have rarely been described(often misdiagnosed as retroperitoneal fibrosis),we do not know of any cases describing this architectural presentation of MZL.

Comparison of MIC with MBEC Assay for in Vitro Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing in Biofilm Forming Clinical Bacterial Isolates

Context: MIC results can be misleading for treatment of biofilm associated. The Minimum Biofilm Eradication Concentration (MBEC) measures the determination to be made for a biofilm susceptibility to antibiotics. Aims: Assessment of biofilm production and comparison of the MIC and MBEC assays evaluate differences in the antibiotic sensitivity patterns of different clinical bacterial isolates from patients implanted with medical devices. Settings and Design: Random sampling with experimental study at tertiary care institute. Methods and Material: The study was carried out during January 2014 to March 2014 on 50 positive bacteriological cultures of medical devices which were inserted in hospitalized patients. Biofilm forming strains were identified by tissue culture plate method & tube method. Biofilm-producing and non-biofilm forming reference strains were used as controls. Assay has been developed for the use with flat bottom, 96-well microtiter plates. Sterile autoclaved PCR tubes were used as pegs which provided surface for the biofilm formation. Amikacin, ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, vancomycin, cefoperazone/ sulbactam, gentamycin were tested for MIC and MBEC assay. Statistical Analysis Used: Results will be discussed in the form of percentages. Results: Colonization by Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumanni and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was prevalent bacterial isolates in medical devices. MBEC was higher for all the antibiotics as compared to MIC except amikacin MBEC for Pseudomonas was the same as MIC. Conclusions: Device associated bacterial biofilms are the major source of infections in patients of critical care setup. MIC misleads physician for organism’s drug susceptibility testing, which results in therapeutic failure. MBEC can guide regarding choice and proper dosing of antibiotics to be given. That’s why major studies for similar testing should be done with clinical evaluation.

Extracting Eco-hydrological Information of Inland Wetland from L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar Image in Honghe National Nature Reserve, Northeast China

Taking a typical inland wetland of Honghe National Nature Reserve (HNNR), Northeast China, as the study area, this paper studied the application of L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image in extracting eco-hydrological information of inland wetland. Landsat-5 TM and ALOS PALSAR HH backscatter images were first fused by using the wavelet-IHS method. Based on the fused image data, the classification method of support vector machines was used to map the wetland in the study area. The overall mapping accuracy is 77.5%. Then, the wet and dry aboveground biomass estimation models, including statistical models and a Rice Cloudy model, were established. Optimal parameters for the Rice Cloudy model were calculated in MATLAB by using the least squares method. Based on the validation results, it was found that the Rice Cloudy model produced higher accuracy for both wet and dry aboveground biomass estimation compared to the statistical models. Finally, subcanopy water boundary information was extracted from the HH backscatter image by threshold method. Compared to the actual water borderline result, the extracted result from L-band SAR image is reliable. In this paper, the HH-HV phase difference was proved to be valueless for extracting subcanopy water boundary information.

The causes of an offensive odor in the kitchens,bathrooms,and toilets of residential apartments in multi-story buildings with natural ventilation in Tomsk,Russia,are discussed in this *** problem exists in other cities and *** electric fans can be installed in ventilation grills in kitchens,bathrooms,and toilets of apartments in multi-story residential ***,these fans turn on with the light in the bathroom or toilet,so the problem is *** airflow from a fan in one apartment disrupts the natural outflow of air in the ventilation system of a residential building designed and built according to building codes and regulations and can cause an unpleasant smell in neighboring *** many cases,it is difficult to determine which apartments have fans and force the neighbors to remove ***,on the scale of one apartment,the problem is solved by installing an air check valve in the ventilation grill,which will block the nuisance airflow from the ventilation system into the ***,the problem is solved by modification and subsequent compliance with building codes and regulations,the implementation of which is controlled by local authorities.

Beamforming in stand-alone Millimeter-Wave(mmWave)communications results in prolonged access times and latencies due to the increased number of measurements required to determine the optimal beam directions at the Mobile Station(MS)and Base Station(BS),returning the highest received signal ***,dynamic and fast access schemes that meet the Third-Generation Partnership Project(3GPP)specifications are required ***,in this paper,a novel initial access scheme is proposed for multiple MS users by leveraging for the first time a digital compass in the access ***,when a new MS joins the footprint of a BS,it probes the channel for beacon signaling about the BS direction,i.e.,broadcasted by a neighboring MS that completed beam association at previous time ***,a digital compass is utilized to adjust the coordinates of the BS according to the location of the new *** proposed scheme is applied for a single and multi-user settings at various broadcasting *** includes a single associated MS user that broadcasts information to a single incoming MS user,a single user that broadcasts signals to multiple incoming users,or all multiple associated users broadcast to multiple incoming ***,the proposed schemes yield in notable efficiency in terms of the computational complexity,access times,power and energy consumption as compared to existing access ***,high success rates are achieved at the detriment of relatively higher cost.
