In order to investigate the human immunological response to acute myocardial infarction (AMI), lymphocyte cells of peripheral vein blood withdrawn from patients with AMI were continuously and quantitatively assayed by flow cytometry method (FCM). The correlation between the alterations of immunological function and clinical course was analyzed. MATERIAL AND METHODS Thirty-one samples were collected from peripheral vein blood of hospitalized patients with AMI in the author’s institution. The patients were aged from 39 to 81 years, ( 26 men and 5 women ). Samples withdrawn from 14 healthy adults served as normal control.

Introduction and Research Problem: Breast cancer is the most common of all female cancers in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Different studies conducted in the Kingdom have shown that knowledge of females regarding breast cancer is poor. Aim of the study was to determine knowledge, attitude and practice among students of Saudi female medical university towards Breast Self Examination (BSE) and also to explore their knowledge about breast cancer. Research Methodology: An observational cross-sectional study was conducted at Faculty of Medicine, taif University during October 2013. Sample size was 378 with mean age of 19.9 ± 1.5. A self administrated questionnaire was used to obtain data about knowledge, attitude and practice towards BSE and knowledge about breast cancer. Data were collected and fed to SPSS version 16. Shape of distribution for numerical data was tested by using one sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Chi-Square Test & Fissure Exact Test (FET) were used for testing relation between categorical variables while correlation analysis was used to test the strength of relation between numeric variables. Main Results: The study revealed that only 8.2% of participants had good overall knowledge about breast cancer and BSE. Although 66% of the study sample had positive attitude towards BSE, only 17% reported that they practiced BSE monthly. A significant positive moderate correlation was found between overall knowledge score and attitude towards BSE (r = 0.449 & p = 0.000). The same was for the frequency of BSE practice but it was found to be in a weak magnitude (r = 0.223 & p = 0.000). Conclusion and Recommendations: Although there was lack of knowledge about breast cancer and BSE yet, positive attitude towards BSE was encouraging. Most female medical students in our sample did not perform BSE or perform it irregularly. Therefore, more intensified awareness programs among students of medical university are necessary to keep in view their current status of breast cancer a

Abstract:Tuberculosis(TB)remains a significant global health challenge,ranking second only to COVID-19 as the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent,with 1.3 million TB-related deaths reported in *** efficacy has been compromised by the emergence of drug-resistant strains,including rifampin-resistant TB(RR-TB),multidrug-resistant TB(MDR-TB),and extensively drug-resistant TB(XDR-TB).Although first-line drugs like isoniazid,rifampicin,pyrazinamide,and ethambutol form the cornerstone of TB therapy,the rise of resistant strains necessitates the use of second-line drugs,which often come with increased toxicity and limited *** advances have focused on repurposing existing compounds and developing new drugs with novel mechanisms of *** agents such as second-generation bedaquiline analogs(TBAJ-587,TBAJ-876),sudapyridine(WX-081),delamanid,pretomanid,and TBI-166(pyrifazimine)have shown efficacy against resistant Mtb *** treatment regimens like the BPaLM protocol-combining bedaquiline,pretomanid,linezolid,and moxifloxacin-offer shorter,all-oral therapies with higher cure rates.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) has a profound impact on daily life,yet remains underdiagnosed and *** study aims to discover potential protein biomarkers for diagnosis and classification of ***-seven COPD patients and 40 controls were divided into a training set(30 COPD patients,20 healthy controls) and a test set(27 COPD patients,20 healthy controls).Serum proteomic profiles were measured using surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry(SELDI-TOF-MS).A classification tree was established using Biomarker Pattern Software(BPS).Next we screened distinct proteins present in patients with acute exacerbations of COPD(AECOPD),stable COPD and healthy controls,in order to establish diagnostic models for classification of *** peaks showed statistically significant differences between COPD patients and healthy controls(P < 0.05).Two proteomic peaks(3167 and 5477 m/z) were chosen by BPS to establish a classification tree in the training *** sensitivity and specificity of this classification tree were 92.59% and 90.00% respectively in the testing ***,differently expressed proteins were detected among the patients with AECOPD,stable COPD,and healthy *** protein profiles(3167 and 4645 m/z) could distinguish between stable COPD patients and healthy *** protein profiles(3167,2963 and 2973 m/z) could distinguish between AECOPD patients and healthy *** protein profiles(5476,14039 and 2831 m/z) could distinguish between stable COPD patients and AECOPD ***-TOFMS Proteinchip technology is a quick,easy and practical,high throughput analytic *** shows the diagnostic models established by distinguished proteomic peaks can discriminate COPD patients from healthy control and can identify different stages of *** will provide a highly accurate approach for diagnosis and clinical staging of COPD.

Objective: To observe the effect of subarachnoid nerve block anesthesia on glutamate transporter glutamate-aspartate transporter(GLAST) and GLT-1 expressions in rabbits, and to investigate the effect of peripheral nerve anesthesia on the morphology and function of the spinal cord. Methods: Twenty healthy New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group and control group; with 10 rabbits in each group. For spinal nerve anesthesia, 5 g/L of bupivacaine was used in the experimental group, and sterile saline was used in the control group. After 30 min of cardiac perfusion, GLAST and GLT-1 protein expression in spinal neurons were detected by immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining. Results: GLAST and GLT-1 protein-positive cells increased in neurons in the experimental group, compared with the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions: After subarachnoid nerve block anesthesia, rabbit glutamate transporter GLAST and GLT-1 expression is increased; and spinal cord nerve cell function is inhibited.
