Prophylactic effects of Edible Lilium-Egg yolk compound powder on depression-like behaviors in rats exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress: A role of gut-brain axis

The incidence rate and harmfulness of depression are increasing yearly， and the research on the antidepressant effect of regulating the intestinal microecology balance has attracted widespread attention. The purpose of this research was to study the preventive effects and the regulatory mechanism of edible Lilium-egg yolk compound powder(Chinese abbreviation， BHT) on gut-brain crosstalk in depressive rats induced by chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS) through the "microbiota-gut-brain" axis. Results showed that infusion of BHT for 21 days ameliorated the morphology of the hippocampus and colon， increased the rate of sucrose preference， reduced the immobility time of forced swimming， increased the expression level of anti-inflammatory cytokine Interleukin-10 (IL-10) in serum， up-regulate the expression level of plasma neurotransmitter 5-hydroxy tryptamine (5-HT)， down-regulate the expression of inflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)， interleukin-6 (IL-6)， and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and neurotransmitter glutamic acid (Glu) in serum， and decrease the expression levels of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)， diamine oxidase (DAO) and lactate dehydrogenase (LD) in plasma. The underlying mechanism may be to reduce the activation of microglia (lower levels of CD11b， IBa1 protein and gene expression)， regulate hippocampal GR/BDNF/NPY signal pathway (higher levels of GR， BDNF， NPY protein and gene expression)， enhance intestinal mucosal barrier function (higher levels of ZO-1， Occludin protein and gene expression)， regulate the composition and structure of intestinal flora(Analysis results of LEfSe combined with random forest showed that Prevotella and Paraprevotella might be biomarkers of BHT intervention in depression)， and it is related to the improvement of glutathione metabolism， and other metabolic pathways. Thromboangiitis obliterans(TAO)is a rare,chronic,progressive,and segmental inflammatory disease characterized by a high rate of amputation,significantly compromising the quality of life of ***-Miao-Yong-An decoction(SMYA),a tradition-al prescription,exhibits anti-inflammatory,anti-thrombotic,and various other pharmacological ***,it was fully proved to be effective for TAO therapy,but the specific therapeutic effect of SMYA on TAO has been ***,deep unveiling the mechanism of SMYA in TAO for identifying clinical therapeutic targets is extremely *** this study,we observed elev-ated levels of IL-17A in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)of TAO patients,whereas the expression of miR-548j-5p was significantly decreased.A negative correlation between the levels of miR-548j-5p and IL-17A was also *** vitro ex-periments showed that overexpression of miR-548j-5p led to a decrease in IL-17A levels,whereas downregulation of miR-548j-5p showed the opposite *** a dual luciferase assay,we confirmed that miR-548j-5p directly targets ***,serum containing SMYA effectively decreased IL-17A levels by increasing the expression of *** importantly,the results of in vivo tests indicated that SMYA mitigated the development of TAO by inhibiting IL-17A through the upregulation of miR-548j-5p in vascular *** conclusion,SMYA significantly enhances the expression of miR-548j-5p,thereby reducing the levels of the target gene IL-17A and alleviating *** research not only identifies novel targets and pathways for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of TAO but also advances the innovation in traditional Chinese medicine through the elucidation of the SMYA/miR-548j-5p/IL-17A regulatory axis in the pathogenesis of TAO.

PEGylated mBPEI-rGO nanocomposites facilitate hepotocarcinoma treatment combining photothermal therapy and chemotherapy

Despite chemotherapy has been widely used for tumor therapy, the serious side effect is still a major challenge. Recently, two dimensional nanomaterial-based drug delivery systems have attracted wide concern due to their high drug loading and low side effect. In addition, some kinds of nanomaterials can directly act as a photosensitizer to induce cancer destruction. In this study, we developed a drug delivery system of mixture of high/low molecular weight branched polyethylenimine-polyethylene glycol-reduced graphene oxide(mBPEI-PEG-rGO) using reduced graphene oxide as matrix. A model drug of doxorubicin(DOX) was loaded on the nanocomposites with the efficiency of 81% and the release rate of more than 50% at acidic environment. In vitro experiments indicated that mBPEI-PEG-rGO-DOX with enhanced stability and biocompatibility efficiently delivered and released DOX into cells mainly through micropinocytosis and killed SMMC-7721 cells by inducing reactive oxygen species(ROS) and cell apoptosis. Furthermore, in vivo experiments indicated that the combination of intratumoral injection of mBPEI-PEG-rGO-DOX and local laser irradiation nearly ablated hepatocarcinoma. In conclusion, this new drug delivery system provided an alternative for combinational photothermal and chemotherapy against hepatocarcinoma.

Panax japonicus, which in the Tujia dialect is known as "Baisan Qi" and "Zhujieshen", is a classic "qi" drug of Tujia ethnomedicine and it has unique effects on disease caused by "qi" stagnation and blood *** paper serves as the basis of further scientific research and development of Panax japonicus. The pharmacology effects of molecular pharmacology were discussed and summarized. A review of lignans from genus Kadsura and their spectrum characteristics

Kadsura belongs to the Schisandroideae subfamily of *** from genus Kadsura are widely distributed in the South and Southwest of *** plants of the genus are widely used as folk medicine for a long time in history,with the functions of relieving pain,promoting 'qi' circulation,activating blood resolve stasis,and applications in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and gastroenteric *** are the primary characteristic constituents with various biological activities of plants from genus *** paper summarized 81 lignans isolated from the plants of genus Kadsura over the past eight years(from 2014 to 2021),which belong to five types:dibenzocyclooctadienes,spirobenzofuranoid dibenzocyclooctadienes,aryltetralins,diarylbutanes and *** type of these lignans possess typical characteristics in proton magnetic resonance(^(1)H NMR) and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance(^(13)C NMR) spectra,the NMR regularities of these types of lingans were summarized,which provided a useful reference for the structural analysis of *** relationships between lignans and pharmacodynamics were also systematically analyzed,lignans were predicted to be the quality markers(Q-marker) of Kadsura genus.
