With the rapid development of the exploitation of underground space, more and more large- or super- large-diameter tunnel-boring machines （tbms） are being employed to construct underground space projects. At present, because conventional circular tbms cannot completely meet the requirements of underground space exploitation regarding the cross-section and space-utilization ratio, non-circular tbms. which are the tunneling equipment for an ideal cross-section, have become the new market growth point. This paper first presents the technical features and development status of non-circular tbms. Next, in reference to typical projects and technological innovation, this paper investigates key techniques including shield design optimization, multi-cutterhead excavation, special-shaped segment erection, and soil conditioning in loess strata for a rectangular pipe-jacking machine and a horseshoe-shaped tbm, in order to provide a set of feasible solutions for the design, manufacture, and construction of non-circular tbms. Relevant engineering practice shows that non-circular tbms with customized design and manufacture have great advantages in terms of construction schedule, settlement control, and space utilization.

To better understand the mechanical properties of marble at Jinping II hydropower station, this paper examines the changes of brittle rocks in excavation damaged zones(EDZs) before and after excavation of tunnel with the tunnel boring machine(tbm). The paper attempts to employ the acoustic emission(AE) to study the AE characteristics and distribution of rockburst before and after tbm-excavated tunnel. It is known that the headrace tunnel #2, excavated by the drill-and-blast(D&B) method, is ahead of the headrace tunnel #3 that is excavated by tbm method. The experimental sub-tunnel #2–1, about 2000 m in depth and 13 m in diameter, between the two tunnels is scheduled. In the experimental sub-tunnel #2–1, a large number of experimental boreholes are arranged, and AE sensors are installed within 10 m apart from the wall of the headrace tunnel #3. By tracking the microseismic signals in rocks, the location, frequency, quantity, scope and intensity of the microseismic signals are basically identifed. It is observed that the AE signals mainly occur within 5 m around the rock wall, basically lasting for one day before tunnel excavation and a week after excavation. Monitoring results indicate that the rockburst signals are closely related to rock stress adjustment. The rock structure has a rapid self-adjustment capacity before and after a certain period of time during tunneling. The variations of rock stresses would last for a long time before reaching a fnal steady state. Based on this, the site-specifc support parameters for the deep tunnels can be accordingly optimized.

The purpose of this study is to achieve better understanding of associated mechanisms and to recommend and identify new strategies to develop new rock breaking technology for Tunnel Boring Machines(tbms).Tunnel Boring Machine tunnelling mainly depends upon the rock breakage caused by cutters moving on a rock surface in a rolling and sliding motion while under the action of thrust *** rock breaking behaviour is controlled by the mechanical interaction between the cutters and the *** to the high hardness and high abrasiveness of rock,the cutters have to work under very high thrust force and suffer heavy-load-impact and abrasive wear,causing serious wear and low rock breaking ***-boring organisms exist in nature,which achieve drilling and/or tunnelling in rocks through a tribochemical *** phenomenon is called bioerosion and the organisms are natural‘tbms’to some *** this study,the interaction between tbm cutters and rock is presented,and current measures to improve cutter wear and rock breaking efficiency and their limitations are ***,the connotation,mechanism and typical cases of bioerosion are ***,inspired by bioerosion,a new chemically assisted rock breaking technology is proposed for tbms.

＜正＞Keio Line is an important part of the main railway in Tokyo Metropolitan rail transportation *** mitigate traffic congestion as well as to avoid potential traffic accidents railway crossing with roads on the ground,a project for underground double-track railway and underground stations was planed and has been under construction near Chofu Station. Two parallel tunnels were constructed in the project,in which existing railways on ground level will be shifted into the underground parallel *** EPB tbm（6.85m outer diameter） was used for both first and second tunnel *** tbm was turned around in a vertical shaft after the first tunnel driving,and then launched from the shaft for the second *** tbm driving was executed under the following special conditions;1) tbm driving beneath existing railway with shallow earth cover（the minimum earth cover is 4.7m that is less than the outer diameter of tunnel lining）,2) the ground bored by tbm which is mainly composed of the Tachikawa gravel formation containing boulders which is over 300mm,3) small clearance between the parallel tunnels （the minimum clearance was 400mm）,and 4) rotation and lift-up of the tbm in the narrow shaft beneath existing railway after the first tunnel driving（a weight of tbm was approximately 300ton）. Fuda station is constructed by cut and cover tunnel *** ground soil up to the tunnels was excavated in the station area first,and then,the tunnel linings were partially cut and removed to construct platform at the track level of the station. This paper summarizes the overall project and reports regarding the countermeasures against above mentioned conditions and the method of the platform level construction with cut and removal of the tunnel linings in Fuda station.

随着地下空间开发进程的加快,越来越多的大型掘进机(tbm)应用于地下工程开挖。目前,常规tbm已无法完全满足地下工程对断面形式和空间利用率的追求,异形tbm成为理想断面开挖设备成为市场新的增长点。本文首先介绍了异形tbm的技术特点及发展现状,然后结合典型工程与工法创新,针对矩形顶管和马蹄形tbm开展了盾体结构设计优化、多刀盘联合开挖、异形管片拼装、黄土地层渣土改良等多项关键技术研究,为异形断面tbm的设计、制造和施工提供了一套可行的解决方案。相关工程实践表明,采用针对性设计、制造的异形tbm,在施工进度、地表沉降控制和空间利用等方面具有巨大优势。

Numerical analysis of the total energy release of surrounding rocks excavated by drill-and-blast （D＆B） method and tunnel boring machine （tbm） method is presented in the paper. The stability of deep tunnels during excavation in terms of energy release is also discussed. The simulation results reveal that energy release during blasting excavation is a dynamic process. An intense dynamic effect is captured at large excavation footage. The magnitude of energy release during full-face excavation with D＆B method is higher than that with tbm method under the same conditions. The energy release rate （ERR） and speed （ERS） also have similar trends. Therefore, the rockbursts in tunnels excavated by D＆B method are frequently encountered and more intensive than those by tbm method. Since the space after tunnel face is occupied by the backup system of tbm, prevention and control of rockbursts are more difficult. Thus, rockbursts in tunnels excavated by tbm method with the same intensity are more harmful than those in tunnels by D＆B method. Reducing tunneling rate of tbm seems to be a good means to decrease ERR and risk of rockburst. The rockbursts observed during excavation of headrace tunnels at Jinping II hydropower station in West China confirm the analytical results obtained in this paper.
