Getting physical with medical education:Exercise based virtual anatomy review classes for medical students

the benefits of regular physical activity are well ***,few studies have examined the effectiveness of integrating physical activity(PA)into curricula within a post-secondary *** investigate the incorporation of PA into medical curriculum,we developed a series of optional exercise-based review sessions designed to reinforce musculoskeletal(MSK)anatomy course *** synchronous sessions were co-taught by a group fitness instructor and an anatomy *** fitness instructor would lead students through both strength and yoga style exercises,while the anatomy instructor asked questions about relevant anatomical structures related to course material previously *** the sessions,participants were asked to evaluate the classes on their self-reported exam preparedness in improving MSK anatomy knowledge,PA levels,and mental *** participants completed surveys;a majority agreed that the classes increased understanding of MSK concepts(90.0%)and activity levels(97.7%).Many(70.0%)felt that the classes helped reduce *** majority of respondents(90.0%)agreed that the classes contributed to increased feelings of social ***,medical students saw benefit in PA based interventions to supplement MSK course *** with increasing activity levels and promoting health behaviours,integrating PA into medical curriculum may improve comprehension of learning material,alleviate stress and foster social connectivity among medical students.

the 18 kDa translocator protein(tSPO)located on the outer mitochondrial membrane regulates several key cellular processes including mitochondrial homeostasis,cholesterol transport,apoptosis,cell proliferation,and maintenance of mitochondrial health(Rupprecht et al.,2022,2023).tSPO is expressed in both peripheral organs and the central nervous system,with a more pronounced expression in tissues that produce *** main reason why tSPO has garnered so much attention is because it plays a key role in neurosteroidogenesis by transferring cholesterol from the outer to the inner mitochondrial membrane,which is the rate-limiting step in neurosteroid synthesis.A cholesterol-recognizing amino acid consensus domain has been identified in the cytosolic C terminus of the tSPO protein by both in vitro and site-directed mutagenesis experiments(Li et al.,2001).However,the role of tSPO in the process of neurosteroid synthesis has been challenged by several studies,particularly tSPO knockout models,which suggest that tSPO removal does not affect the phenotype or the system’s viability(tu et al.,2014).However,ligands targeting tSPO have been shown to enhance levels of neurosteroids which suggests that neurosteroidogenesis is one of the major functional roles mediated by the tSPO protein.

Effect of gamification applications on success of dentistry students

BACKGROUND Gamification,the use of game materials in education,has been used in several scientific fields,and studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in student *** to evaluate whether the success of 4th-and 5th-grade dentistry students increases when using the gamification applications Kahoot!and *** An experimental design was used to measure the effect of gamification applications on students who were taught using the traditional *** this purpose,Mentimeter and Kahoot!applications were used in this experimental *** groups of 4th-and 5th-grade students were formed:Mentimeter,Kahoot!,and control *** effect of gamification applications on achievement was evaluated by administering a post-test to these groups after the instructional ***-way analysis of variance and t-tests were used for statistical *** A total of 35.5%of the students were in the Mentimeter group,29.8%in the Kahoot!group,and 34.6%in the control *** the total number of students,54.8%were female and 45.2%were male,while 52.2%were 5th-grade students and 47.8%were 4th-grade *** overall grade point average was found to be 66.65(range,24-100).there was a statistically significant difference in average success scores between students of different groups(P=0.00336the average success score was the highest in the Mentimeter group(71.64)and the lowest in the Kahoot!group(62.15).In the control group,this score was *** average success score was higher for students in the 5thgrade(68.16)and for female students(68.84).CONCLUSION Gamification has a great potential in the education of dentomaxillofacial radiology *** outperformed both the Kahoot!and the traditional method in terms of average student success rates.

Reliable Space Pursuing for Reliability-based Design Optimization with Black-box Performance Functions

Reliability-based design optimization （RBDO） is intrinsically a double-loop procedure since it involves an overall optimization and an iterative reliability assessment at each search point. Due to the double-loop procedure, the computational expense of RBDO is normally very high. Current RBDO research focuses on problems with explicitly expressed performance functions and readily available gradients. this paper addresses a more challenging type of RBDO problem in which the performance functions are computation intensive. these computation intensive functions are often considered as a ＂black-box＂ and their gradients are not available or not reliable. On the basis of the reliable design space （RDS） concept proposed earlier by the authors, this paper proposes a Reliable Space Pursuing （RSP） approach, in which RDS is first identified and then gradually refined while optimization is performed. It fundamentally avoids the nested optimization and probabilistic assessment loop. three well known RBDO problems from the literature are used for testing and demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed RSP method.

Experience after 100 patients treated with cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy

AIM:to investigate perioperative patient morbidity/mortality and outcome after cytoreductive surgery(CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy(HIPEC).MEtHODS:Of 150 patients 100 were treated with cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC and retrospectively *** and postoperative follow-up data were *** mass index(BMI),age and peritoneal carcinomatosis index(PCI) were chosen as selection criteria with regard to tumor-free survival and perioperative morbidity for this multimodal ***:CRS with HIPEC was successfully performed in 100 out of 150 *** patients were excluded because of intraoperative *** PCI was 17(1-39).In 89% a radical resection(CC0/CC1) was *** patient died postoperatively due to multiorgan *** PCI,age nor BMI was a risk factor for postoperative complications/outcome according to the DINDO *** 9% Re-CRS with HIPEC was performed during the follow-up ***:Patient selection remains the most important *** PCI,age nor BMI alone should be an exclusion criterion for this multimodal therapy.
