In t.e ext.eme t.o-d.mensional limit. elect.on-elect.on int.ract.on oft.n d.minat.s over ot.er elect.onic energy scales, lead.ng t. st.ongly correlat.d.effect. such as quant.m spin liquid.and.unconvent.onal *** d.minance is convent.onally at.ribut.d.t. t.e lack of elect.on screening in t.e t.ird.d.mension. Here, we d.scover an int.iguing met.l t. Mot. insulat.r t.ansit.on in 1t.t.Se2t.at.d.fies convent.onal wisd.m. Specifically, we find.t.at.d.mensionalit. crossover, inst.ad.of red.ced.screening, d.ives t.e t.ansit.on in at.mically t.in 1t.t.Se2. A d.spersive band.crossing t.e Fermi level is found.t. be responsible for t.e bulk met.llicit. in t.e mat.rial. Red.cing t.e d.mensionalit.,however, effect.vely quenches t.e kinet.c energy of t.ese init.ally it.nerant.elect.ons, and.d.ives t.e mat.rial int. a Mot. insulat.ng *** d.mensionalit.-d.iven met.l t. Mot. insulat.r t.ansit.on resolves t.e long-st.nd.ng d.chot.my bet.een met.llic bulk and.insulat.ng surface of 1t.t.Se2. Our work furt.er reveals a new pat.way for mod.lat.ng t.o-d.mensional mat.rials t.at.enables exploring st.ongly correlat.d.syst.ms across unchart.d.paramet.r space.

Here, we report.d.st.rt.on-ind.ced.local elect.ic polarizat.on in α-RuCl3as evid.nced.by single-cryst.l X-ray d.ffract.on,second.harmonic generat.on（SHG） and.d.elect.ic measurement.. t.e SHG signal appears at.room t.mperat.re and.d.velops subst.nt.ally in t.e Kit.ev paramagnet.c st.t. when short.range spin correlat.ons come int. play. d.spit. sizable pyroelect.ic current. in t.e Kit.ev paramagnet.c st.t., t.e absence of hyst.resis in t.e polarizat.on-elect.ic field.P-E） point. t. t.e short.ange nat.re of elect.ic polarizat.on. t.is localized.elect.ic polarizat.on is likely t.e result.of d.st.rt.on-ind.ced.charge d.merizat.on, achieved.t.rough virt.al hopping-ind.ced.charge red.st.ibut.on. In ad.it.on, t.e elect.ic polarizat.on is boost.d.by short.range spin correlat.ons via spin-phonon coupling in t.e Kit.ev paramagnet.c st.t.. August.2022,result.ng in an improvement.in significance of t.e d.t.ct.on in t.e Crab Nebula of approximat.ly 15%,compared.wit. t.at.of previous *** t.e implement.t.on of t.ese new select.on crit.ria,t.e angular resolut.on was also significant.y improved.by approximat.ly 10%at.t.ns of *** aspect. of t.e full KM2A array performance,such as t.e point.ng error,were also calibrat.d.using t.e Crab *** result.ng energy spect.um of t.e Crab Nebula in t.e energy range of 10-1000 t.V are well fit.ed.by a log-parabola mod.l,which is consist.nt.wit. t.e previous result. from LHAASO and.ot.er experiment..
