The Mechanism of Heating Rate on the Secondary Recrystallization Evolution in Grain Oriented Silicon Steel

Grain-oriented silicon steels were prepared at different heating rates during high temperature annealing, in which the evolution of magnetic properties, grain orientations and precipitates were studied. To illustrate the Zener factor, the diameter and number density of precipitates of interrupted testing samples were statistically calculated. The effect of precipitate ripening on the Goss texture and magnetic property was investigated. Data indicated that the trend of Zener factor was similar under different heating rates, first increasing and then decreasing, and that the precipitate maturing was greatly inhibited as the heating rate increased. Secondary recrystallization was developed at the temperature of 1 010 ℃ when a heating rate of 5 ℃/h was used, resulting in Goss, Brass and {110} oriented grains growing abnormally and a magnetic induction intensity of 1.90T. Furthermore, increasing the heating rate to 20 ℃/h would inhibit the development of undesirable oriented grains and obtain a sharp Goss texture. However, when the heating rate was extremely fast, such as 40 ℃/h, poor secondary recrystallization was developed with many island grains, corresponding to a decrease in magnetic induction intensity to 1.87 T. At a suitable heating rate of 20 ℃/h, the sharpest Goss texture and the highest magnetic induction of 1.94 T with an onset secondary recrystallization temperature of 1 020 ℃ were found among the experimental variables in this study. The heating rate affected the initial temperature of secondary recrystallization by controlling the maturation of precipitates, leading to the deviation and dispersion of Goss texture, thereby reducing the magnetic properties.

An Overview of Dry-wet Climate Variability among Monsoon-Westerly Regions and the Monsoon Northernmost Marginal Active Zone in China

Climate in China's Mainland can be divided into the monsoon region in the southeast and the westerly region in the northwest as well as the intercross zone, i.e., the monsoon northernmost marginal active zone that is oriented from Southwest China to the upper Yellow River, North China, and Northeast China. In the three regions, dry-wet climate changes are directly linked to the interaction of the southerly monsoon flow on the east side of the Tibetan Plateau and the westerly flow on the north side of the Plateau from the inter-annual to inter-decadal timescales. Some basic features of climate variability in the three regions for the last half century and the historical hundreds of years are reviewed in this paper. In the last half century, an increasing trend of summer precipitation associated with the enhancing westerly flow is found in the westerly region from Xinjiang to northern parts of North China and Northeast China. On the other hand, an increasing trend of summer precipitation along the Yangtze River and a decreasing trend of summer precipitation along the monsoon northernmost marginal active zone are associated with the weakening monsoon flow in East Asia. Historical documents are widely distributed in the monsoon region for hundreds of years and natural climate proxies are constructed in the non-monsoon region, while two types of climate proxies can be commonly found over the monsoon northernmost marginal active zone. In the monsoon region, dry-wet variation centers are altered among North China, the lower Yangtze River, and South China from one century to another. Dry or wet anomalies are firstly observed along the monsoon northernmost marginal active zone and shifted southward or southeastward to the Yangtze River valley and South China in about a 70-year timescale. Current and efficiency of Brownian particles under oscillating forces in entropic barriers

In this study, considering the temporarily unbiased force and different forms of oscillating forces, we investigate the current and efficiency of Brownian particles in an entropic tube structure and present the numerically obtained results. We show that different force forms give rise to different current and efficiency profiles in different optimized parameter intervals. We find that an unbiased oscillating force and an unbiased temporal force lead to the current and efficiency, which are dependent on these parameters. We also observe that the current and efficiency caused by temporal and different oscillating forces have maximum and minimum values in different parameter intervals. We conclude that the current or efficiency can be controlled dynamically by adjusting the parameters of entropic barriers and applied force.

Fast PARAFAC decomposition with application to polarization sensitive array parameter estimations

In tensor theory, the parallel factorization （PARAFAC）decomposition expresses a tensor as the sum of a set of rank-1tensors. By carrying out this numerical decomposition, mixedsources can be separated or unknown system parameters can beidentified, which is the so-called blind source separation or blindidentification. In this paper we propose a numerical PARAFACdecomposition algorithm. Compared to traditional algorithms, wespeed up the decomposition in several aspects, i.e., search di-rection by extrapolation, suboptimal step size by Gauss-Newtonapproximation, and linear search by n steps. The algorithm is ap-plied to polarization sensitive array parameter estimation to showits usefulness. Simulations verify the correctness and performanceof the proposed numerical techniques.

Growth of CdS crystals by the physical vapor transport method

Based on the physical vapor transport （PVT） method, the growth of large-size CdS crystals inside a vertical semi-closed tube is studied. Firstly, in order to ensure 1D diffusion-advection transport, multi-thin tubes are used in the growth tube. The XRD spectra of the CdS crystal grown in this configuration indicates that the crystal quality has clearly been improved, where the FWHM is 58.5 arcsec. Secondly, theoretical and experimental growth rates under different total pressures are compared; the results show that the experiential growth rate equation is valid for our semi-tube growth, and it could be used to estimate the growth rate and maximum growth time under different total pressures.

Preparation and preliminary evaluation of [^(55)Co](II)vancomycin

Co-55 (t1/2=17.53 h) was produced by 150 μA irradiation of a natural nickel target using 15 MeV protons. It was separated from the irradiated target material by two ion exchange chromatography steps with a radiochemical yield of >95% and was used for the preparation of [55Co]vancomycin ([55Co]VAN). Optimization studies were per- formed using Co-57 due to its longer half-life. Cobalt-57 (t1/2=271.79 d) was produced by irradiation of a natural nickel target with 150 μA current of 22 MeV protons. The 57Co was separated from the irradiated target material using a no-carrier-added method with a radiochemical yield of >97%. Both products were controlled for radionuclide and chemical purity. The solutions of [55Co]VAN were prepared (radiochemical yield>80%) starting with 55Co acetate and vancomycin at room temperature after 30 min. A precise solid phrase extraction (SPE) method was developed using Si Sep-Pak in order to purify/reconstitute the final formulation for animal studies. [55Co]VAN showed a radiochemical purity of more than 99%. The resultant specific activity was about 1.15 TBq/mmol. It is proved that the tracer is stable in the final product and in presence of human serum at 37°C up to 24 h. Biodistribution study of [55Co]VAN in normal rats was undertaken for up to 72 h.

Gas solid techniques for preparation of pure lanthanum hexaboride

The processes reported for the preparation of lanthanum hexaboride (LaB6) from lanthanum oxide involve the use of carbon either elemental or in the form of boron carbide or elemental boron itself as reducing agents, fused salts at high temperatures or reactions which require the product boride to be leached out. Each of these techniques either increases the process costs and/or increases chances of contamination in fi-nal product. Pure LaB6 can best be prepared by a reaction which produces a gaseous byproduct. In the present study, such a reaction was successfully used to yield pure lanthanum hexaboride. The process involved mixing of anhydrous lanthanum chloride with aluminium and boron and heating the charges under dynamic argon flow. Lanthanum chloride is known to be highly hygroscopic; hence the process using improperly dehydrated LaCl3 led to the formation of lanthanum oxychloride which does not convert to LaB6 under conditions wherein LaCl3 converts. Not only the formation of AlCl3 but also its continuous removal from the reaction zone is necessary for the success of the process.

Microstructure and magnetic properties of sintered CeCo_(4.3252-x)Cu_(0.675)Fe_x magnets

Anisotropic CeCo4.325_xCuo.675Fex （x ： 0.475- 0.875） sintered magnets were prepared by traditional powder metallurgical method. Influence of ball-nfilling time and iron content on microstructure and magnetic properties of the CeCo4,325-xCuo.675Fex sintered magnets were investigated. It is shown that the properties of the magnet produced by mag- netic powders ball-milled for 40 min are better than that for 30 rain. With iron content increasing, remanence Br and maxi- mum energy product （BH）m increase first and then decrease. The optimal magnetic properties are obtained for the CeCo3.65Cuo.675Feo.675 sintered magnet： Br=0.685 T, the intrinsic coercivity Hci = 350 kA.m-1, and （BH）m ： 85.6 kJ.m-3. The increase of Br is mainly influenced by iron content of 1：5 matrix which can properly increase the saturation induction Bs; the rapid increase of the amount of Ce-rich phase and 5：19 phase gives rise to the deterioration of the magnets when x ≥ 0.775.

Genetic-optimization framework for SVC transmission based on partial cooperative communication

A genetic-optimization framework based on the partial cooperation communication protocol is proposed for scalable video coding (SVC) stream transmission under multi-relay amplify and forward cooperative networks. Unlike traditional cooperative transmission schemes, the transmission mode for each coded unit in this new protocol can be switched flexibly between direct transmission and cooperative transmission. Obviously, under this protocol, the bandwidth efficiency and transmission robustness can be balanced adaptively according to the priority level of coded units and wireless channel fading characteristics. Based on this, a well-known genetic optimization algorithm-differential evolution is exploited here to find the jointly optimal transmission modes, power allocation and unequal error protection (UEP) channel coding strategies to minimize the end to end reconstructed video distortion. Extensive simulation results show that, compared with classical optimal cooperative UEP transmission schemes, the proposed optimized transmission framework based on the partial cooperative protocol can bring significant peak-signal-to-noise-ratio (PSNR) gains for the reconstructed video in a variety of channel bandwidth, power budget and test sequences.

Current and efficiency optimization under oscillating forces in entropic barriers

The transport of externally overdriven particles confined in entropic barriers is investigated under various types of oscillating and temporal ***,load,and amplitude dependence of the particle current and energy conversion efficiency are investigated in three *** oscillating forces,the optimized temperature–load,amplitude–temperature,and amplitude–load intervals are determined when fixing the amplitude,load,and temperature,*** using three-dimensional plots rather than two-dimensional ones,it is clearly shown that oscillating forces provide more efficiency compared with a temporal one in specified optimized parameter ***,the dependency of efficiency to the angle between the unbiased driving force and a constant force is investigated and an asymmetric angular dependence is found for all types of ***,it is shown that oscillating forces with a high amplitude and under a moderate load lead to higher efficiencies than a temporal force at both low and high temperatures for the entire range of contact angle.
