Ticks transmit a diverse array of microbes to vertebrate hosts,including human pathogens,which has led to a human-centric focus in this vector *** less is known about pathogens of ticks ***,we discover that a toxin in blacklegged ticks(Ixodes scapularis)horizontally acquired from bacteria-called domesticated amidase effector 2(dae2)-has evolved to kill mammalian skin microbes with remarkable *** into the saliva and gut of ticks,Dae2 limits skin-associated staphylococci in ticks while *** contrast,Dae2 has no intrinsic ability to kill Borrelia burgdorferi,the tick-borne Lyme disease bacterial *** findings suggest ticks resist their own pathogens while tolerating ***,just as tick symbionts can be pathogenic to humans,mammalian commensals can be harmful to *** study underscores how virulence is context-dependent and bolsters the idea that"pathogen"is a status and not an identity.

Objective:This study aimed to investigate the effects of TH/CTS/β-CD microspheres by oral administration on ovalbumin allergic asthma of a rat ***:Spray drying method was applied for preparing the TH/CTS/β-CD microspheres,which were used in treatment of asthmatic *** a predetermined time,the levels of eosinophil(Eos),protein,lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),aspartate transaminase(AST),glutamic pyruvic transaminase(GPT),and creatinine(Cr)were ascertained by automatic hematology and biochemical *** tissue histology was performed by hematoxylin-eosin ***:No significant differences were found about the contents of Eos in the blood,and the contents of Eos,protein and LDH in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid between the microsphere-treated and dexamethasone-treated groups,but the levels were lower in both treated groups than in the model *** the microsphere-treated group,the levels of Cr,AST,and GPT in the serum of rats showed no significant differences compared with the normal *** on lung histopathological findings,the microspheres attenuated inflammatory cell infiltration and mucus hypersecretion compared with the model ***:This study demonstrated that TH/CTS/β-CD microspheres exerted an anti-inflammatory effect and could serve as a novel promising drug delivery system for asthma treatment.

As SARS-CoV-2 continues to spread and evolve,detecting emerging variants early is critical for public health *** lineage prevalence by clinical testing is infeasible at scale,especially in areas with limited resources,participation,or testing/sequencing capacity,which can also introduce ***-CoV-2 RNA concentration in wastewater successfully tracks regional infection dynamics and provides less biased abundance estimates than clinical testing4,*** virus genomic sequences in wastewater would improve community prevalence estimates and detect emerging variants.

近几十年来, 世界范围内哮喘、鼻炎、湿疹（过敏性和非过敏性）患病率尤其是儿童患病率显著增长, 室内环境的变化被怀疑是其后的重要原因. 过去20年, 中国的室内环境经历了举世瞩目的巨大变化, 人们承受了很多前所未有的（室内）环境污染暴露, 它们与日趋严重的儿童哮喘及其他过敏性疾病间虽被怀疑存在很强的关联, 但尚未得到足够的研究结果支撑. 2010 ~2012年, 对中国室内环境与儿童健康（China, Children, Homes, Health, 简称CCHH）展开调研, 阶段I对10个代表城市随机选取的幼儿园或小学的48219名1~8岁的儿童进行了问卷调查. 问卷包含国际儿童哮喘过敏研究（ISAAC）问卷的关于健康效应的核心问题并加上了考虑中国住宅、生活习惯和室外环境等特点的问题, 对其中的3~6岁儿童的数据进行了分析研究. CCHH调查的城市中确诊哮喘患病率为1.7%~9.8% （平均为6.8%）, 相比于1990年的0.91%和2000年的1.50%有大幅增长. 喘息、鼻炎和特应性湿疹（过去12个月）的患病率分别为13.9%~23.7%, 24.0%~50.8%和4.8%~15.8%. 在调研关注的儿童疾病中, 太原儿童的患病率最低; 除了乌鲁木齐儿童哮鸣音患病率最高外, 其余疾病和症状上海儿童的患病率最高. 分析显示：患病率和室外PM10浓度无显著相关性, 和人均GDP为指标的经济条件的关联性值得进一步研究; 患病率在湿润环境（主要指夏热冬冷且建筑无集中供暖的地区）中要高得多.

It is important to identify atmospheric environmental drivers of childhood asthma because asthma is the most common chronic disease in children *** provided an overview of the impacts of exposure to atmospheric environmental factors(e.g.,meteorological factors and air pollutants)on childhood asthma,based on a series of studies with the cutting-edge environmental epidemiological methodology in Shanghai,***,we found that the prevalence of asthma among the children aged 3–7 years had increased by approximately 7 fold,from 2.1%in 1990 to 14.6%in *** meteorological factors(*** mean temperature,temperature difference,air pressure,air pressure difference,precipitation,relative humidity,sunshine and wind speed)and air pollutants(PM10,PM2.5,NO2,SO2 and O3)were significantly associated with childhood asthma(pasthma *** also found that temperature variability was significantly associated with the elevated relative risk of daily outpatient visits for childhood asthma(pasthma and found that there were a number of adaptation measures proposed for childhood asthma in response to climate change,including vulnerability assessment,improving ventilation and heating,enhancing community education,developing forecast models,and early warning ***,the effectiveness of most adaptation measures,except for improving ventilation and heating in winter,have not been explored and *** asthma is sensitive to the variation of atmospheric environmental conditions,it is critical to develop and implement appropriate climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies as global heating becomes apparent.

Obstructive airway disease is a complex disease entity including several maladies characterized by bronchoconstriction and abnormal airway inflammation. Reversing bronchoconstriction leads to symptomatic relief and improvement in quality of life, both in reversible(bronchial asthma) and partially reversible(chronic obstructive airway disease) obstructive airway diseases. β2-adrenoceptor expressed in human airway is the main β-receptor subtype, and its activation in airway smooth muscle cells leads to bronchodilatation. Drugs targeting β-adrenoceptors have been around for many years, for which agonists of the receptors are used in bronchodilation while antagonists are used in cardiovascular diseases. This review article summarizes the effect and usage of β2-agonist in obstructive airway disease, addressing the benefits and potential risks of β2-agonist. The article also looks at the safety of β-blocker usage for cardiovascular disease in patients with obstructive airway disease. There is also emerging evidence that non-selective β-blockers with inverse agonism ironically can have longterm beneficial effects in obstructive airway disease that is beyond cardiovascular protection. Further trials are urgently needed in this area as it might lead to a dramatic turnaround in clinical practice for obstructive airway diseases as has already been seen in the usage of β-blockers for heart failure.
