Research on Thermal Properties of Nomex Fiber and Nomex/Viscose Blended Fabric

Based on the analysis of the properties of Nomex 450 and Nomex 462,the thermal properties of Nomex 462/Lenzing Viscose Flame retardent(FR)blending materials were *** was discovered through burning test and Thermal Gravity(TG)analysis that the blended material was superior in thermal behaviors to the material made from either Nomex or Viscose FR filament,when the ratio of Nomex and Lenzing Viscose FR reached 80∶20,and excellent thermal properties were achieved with the value of Limiting Oxygen Index(LOI)up to 36.1%.Blending Nomex and Viscose FR filaments may be recommended for better fire retardant property of related fabric.

The human skin maintains a comfortable and healthy somatosensory state by sensing different aspects of the thermal environment,including temperature value,heat source,energy level,and ***,state-of-the-art thermosensors only measure basic temperature values,not the full range of the thermosensation function of human ***,we propose a heat source recognition(hsr)sensor of poly(butyl acrylate)-lithium bis(n-fluoroalkylsulfonyl)imide(PBA-Li:nFSI;n=1,3,5),which enables response to temperature,pressure,and proximity stimulus signals based on the relaxation behavior of the ionic gel and distinguished between different types of heat sources(i.e.,radiation,convection,and conduction).The hsr sensor was integrated into a prosthetic limb covered by an e-skin with isothermal regulation,and experiments with a robot showed that it could achieve human-like thermosensation function,recognizing multidimensional information about thermal environments,such as temperature value,comfort level,and heat source *** work deeply mimics the human body’s thermosensation function and provides a reliable solution for the development of bionic e-skin for intelligent robots and prosthetics.

Experimental Simulation and Analysis of the Yarn Motion Track in a Hairiness-Reducing Nozzle

A visible magnified and simulated nozzle was designed and installed on a winding machine according to the similarity principle of Reynolds number, to study the yarn motion track in hairiness-reducing nozzle. High-speed photography was used to observe the yam instantaneous motion state in the nozzle. The results show that the yarn motion track seems to be a cylindrical helix which is close to inner wall in the twisting chamber and kept the same with different technical parameters, such as diameter of the twisting chamber and jet pressure in orifices. According to simulation results and reasonable simplification, the motion track equation and the rotational equation of the yarn could be derived. The velocity of the swirl and hairiness is faster than that of the yarn balloon, so there is enough time for hairiness to be wrapped into the main body of yarn and hence the hairiness is reduced.

A New Method for Measuring the Stitch Length of Weft Knitted Fabric in a Static Environment

It is essential to measure the stitch length of weft knitted fabric in a static environment for economy and improving productivity. The image inputted was dealt with the digital image processing techniques： the paper carried out the transformation of grey scale; then removed impurities with filtering; the characteristic of the stitch structure was abstracted by using the Fourier transform technique. To obtain the stitch length more accurately, we should establish ageometric medal of the stitch lined on the digital image processing, which provides a way to transform the stitch length in the two-dimenslon space into a three-dimension space. This study provides a new methed for measuring the stitch length without damaging the fabric.

Compressive Behaviours of Concrete Cylinders Wrapped with 2-D Glass Fabrics

Concrete cylindess wrapped with glass fabrics of various constructions were fabricated. Compressive behaviours of cylinders with and without fabric wrapping were investigated. Comparisons of the compressive characters while using different fabrication parameters were made. It was demonstrated that the effect of the fabric reinforcent was obvious. The tensile strength of the filament used in the fabric played an important role as far as the anti-compression behaviour of the reinforced cylinders is concened.

Research on the Geometry and Microstructure of the Coir Fiber

Coir fiber is derived from the coconut shells and considered to be an economical and natural material. In order to further extend its application fields,the geometry and microstructure of the coir fiber were thoroughly investigated in this research. The single fiber length measurement was carried out,and it was revealed that the length of the coir fiber was between 8 and 337 mm. Length distribution of the coir fiber was simulated by using the computer technology,and was found to be in coincidence with that of most natural fibers. The grouping measurement analysis was used to study the length-weight distribution and length-linear density distribution of the fiber. It was found that the average linear density was 27.89 tex and the linear density was between 18.265 and 70.442 tex. The length-weight distribution of the coir fiber showed a Poisson pattern,and the weight of fibers with the length between 50 and 230 mm accounted for 85.28% of the total fibers measured. In this research,scanning electron microscope (SEM) was applied to observe the morphological changes of coir fiber before and after alkali treatment;and the result shows that alkali treatment leads to the removal of lignin and pectin from both the cuticle and the inside walls,which is beneficial for the interfacial adhesion with polymer matrix in composite fabrication.

Effect of Flats Speed on Card Sliver Quality

The effect of flats speed,especially higher flats speed,on card sliver quality was *** sliver produced at seven flats speeds was tested with Uster *** results show that over-high flats speed is not beneficial to removing impurities and neps of card *** flats speed from 450 to 550 mm/min is the best for removing impurity;while a speed of 450 or 650 mm/min is the best for removing neps of card *** 1 050 mm/min flats speed is the best for removing short ***,the flats speed of 450 mm/min is the most advantageous to improve the comprehensive quality of card *** is also found that installing back-web-cleaner is very helpful to remove *** is also favorable to reduce short fibers,thus increasing the average *** it is not helpful to reduce impurities in the sliver.

Gray scale grades for color change of dyed fabrics are assessed via image processing *** images of groups of specimens are obtained,cropped,and saved as JPEG *** between gray scale grades for color change and the corresponding color differences calculated via image processing technology are investigated,compared with those obtained from high accurate computer color matching *** show that the new method is acceptable with an accuracy of 92.0% when the grading errors are of not more than one grade.
