The authors consider a two-period joint inventory and pricing decision problem for a retailer facing strategic customers with behavioral preferences such as reference dependence, loss aversion and risk preferences. The authors develop and analyze a model that accounts for customers' these behavioral preferences as well as value depreciation on the product, and makes predictions on the retailer's optimal decisions. Moreover, the authors demonstrate how the presence of these behavioral preferences and primary parameters will leverage the retailer's optimal decisions. It is revealed that strategic customers' loss aversion behavior could benefit the retailer from pushing up the regular price, the stocking quantity and hence the expected profit. However, customer's value depreciation on the product will drive down these aspects. To alleviate the negative effect of the strategic customers' behavioral preferences, the authors suggest the retailer applying inventory commitment strategy and price guarantee policy, which could increase the retailer's profit beyond the rational expectation equilibrium level in some situations.

In this paper, the effects of altering the organizational setting of distributed adaptive search processes in the course of search are investigated. We put particular emphasis on the complexity of interactions between partial search problems assigned to search agents. Employing an agent-based simulation based on the framework of NK landscapes we analyze different temporal change modes of the organizational set-up. The organizational properties under change include, for example, the coordination mechanisms among search agents. Results suggest that inducing organizational dynamics has the potential to increase the effectiveness of distributed adaptive search processes with respect to various performance measures like the final performance achieved at the end of the search, the chance to find the optimal solution of the search problem, or the average performance per period achieved during the search process. However, results also indicate that the mode of temporal change in conjunction with the complexity of the search problem considerably affects the order of magnitude of these beneficial effects. In particular, results suggest that organizational dynamics induces a shift towards more exploration, i.e., discovery of new areas in the fitness landscape, and less exploitation, i.e., stepwise improvement.

Constructing an assessment index system for strategic risk management in coal science and technology enterprises

Coal occupies a dominant position in China＇s national economy and is an essential energy source for future industrial development. To inform the efficient and sustainable development of the coal industry, this paper analyzes the sources of strategic risk for coal science and technology enterprises using 3 first-class indicators, 10 second-level indicators, and 37 observation points established through the existing research literature and experience. Moreover, in accordance to the obtained initial index data, the selected indicators have been tested and screened using reliability and membership degree analyses to remove redundant variables, avoid juxtaposition of risk factors at different levels, and reduce the influ- ence of some tiny risk factors for enterprise strategic risk. Then, factor analysis of external environment factor sub-scale was carried out. Factors are extracted according to a standard characteristic value greater than 1. Variables with high coefficients are classified into one factor category; and finally, 3 first-class indicators. 8 second-level indicators, and 37 observation noints are reconstructed.

As leader creativity is found to be effective at promoting outcomes for organizations, more and more organizations select creative individuals as leaders. However, the influence of leader creativity has not received enough attention. Thus, this research seeks to focus on the potential influences of leader creativity in organizations. Based on social cognitive theory, we explore the relationship between leader creativity and subordinate organizational citizenship behavior （OCB）. We find that leader creativity is positively related to subordinate OCB, and perceived team creative efficacy mediates the relationship. Moreover, creative self-efficacy moderates the relationships between perceived team creative efficacy and subordinate OCB. We then discuss implications and limitations, and suggest directions for future research.

The intertwined challenges of climate change, resource scarcity, and conflict require innovative integrated solutions that address both environmental and societal vulnerabilities. Technological innovation offers a transformative pathway for climate change adaptation and peacebuilding, with emphasis on a holistic approach to managing resource conflicts and environmental challenges. This paper explores the synergies between emerging technologies and strategic framework to mitigate climate-induced tensions and foster resilience. It focuses on the application of renewable energy systems to reduce dependence on contested resources, blockchain technology to ensure transparency in climate finance, equitable resource allocation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance early warning systems for climate-related disaster and conflicts. Additionally, technologies such as precision agriculture and remote sensing empower communities to optimize resource use, adapt to shifting environmental conditions, and reduce competition over scares resources. These innovations with inclusive governance and local capacity-building are very primordial. Ultimately, the convergence of technology, policy, and local participation offers a scalable and replicable model for addressing the dual challenges of environmental degradation and instability, thereby paving the way for a more sustainable and peaceful future.

The paper starts from a discussion of the concepts of knowledge management versus technology management, and the emergence of knowledge sciences. This is followed be a summary of recent results in the theory of knowledge creation. Most of them concern diverse spirals of creative interplay between rational （explicit） and intuitive or emotional （tacit） aspects of knowledge. Some of them concentrate on organizational （market or purpose-oriented） knowledge creation, other describe academic （research-oriented） knowledge creation. The problem addressed in this paper is how to integrate diverse spirals of knowledge creation into a prescriptive or exemplar model that would help to overcome the differences between organizational （market-oriented） and normal academic knowledge creation. As such prescriptive approach, the JAIST Nanatsudaki Model of knowledge creation is proposed. It consists of seven spirals, known from other studies, but integrated in a sequence resulting from the experience of authors in practical management of research activities. Not all of these spirals have to be fully utilized, depending on a particular application, but all of them relate to some essential aspects of either academic or organizational knowledge creation. The paper presents Nanatsudaki Model in detail with comments on consecutive spirals. The results of a survey of opinions about creativity conditions at JAIST indicate the importance of many spirals constituting the Nanatsudaki Model. Directions of further testing the Nanatsudaki Model are indicated.
