Memory-enhanced text style transfer with dynamic style learning and calibration

Text style transfer aims to rephrase a sentence to match the desired style while retaining the original content. As a controllable text generation task, mainstream approaches use content-independent style embedding as control variables to guide stylistic generation. Nonetheless, stylistic properties are contextsensitive even under the same style. For example, “delicious” and “helpful” convey positive sentiments,although they are more likely to describe food and people, respectively. Therefore, desired style signals must vary with the content. To this end, we propose a memory-enhanced transfer method, which learns fine-grained style representation concerning content to assist transfer. Rather than employing static style embedding or latent variables, our method abstracts linguistic characteristics from training corpora and memorizes subdivided content with the corresponding style representations. The style signal is dynamically retrieved from memory using the content as a query, providing a more expressive and flexible latent style space. To address the imbalance between quantity and quality in different content, we further introduce a calibration method to augment memory construction by modeling the relationship between candidate *** results obtained using three benchmark datasets confirm the superior performance of our model compared to competitive approaches. The evaluation metrics and case study also indicate that our model can generate diverse stylistic phrases matching context.

Automatically identifying imperfections and attacks in practical quantum key distribution systems via machine learning

The realistic security of quantum key distribution(QKD) systems is currently a hot research topic in the field of quantum communications. There are always defects in practical devices, and eavesdroppers can make use of the security risk points of various devices to obtain key information. To date, current types of security analysis tend to analyze each security risk point individually, thereby posing great challenges for the overall security evaluation of QKD systems. In this paper, for the first time, we employ machine learning algorithms to identify the defects of different devices and certain attacks in real time, with an accuracy of 98%. It provides a novel solution for the practical security evaluation of QKD systems, thereby addressing the bottleneck problem of multiple risk points being difficult to address simultaneously in QKD systems,thus paving the way for the future large-scale application of quantum communication networks.

Quantitative evaluation of air pollution in transport strategic environmental assessment:a case study based on uncertainty analysis and graphic information system technology

Although the impact of road transport on urban air quality has achieved a high profile in China,still greater attention is required as it has not yet been considered fully even in relation to the road network linking cities and urban areas. strategic environmental assessment (SEA) is a systematic and comprehensive process for evaluating the environmental impacts of a policy,plan or program in publicly accountable decision-making. Air pollution has been recognized as a significant issue in most transport SEA practices. The strategic Environmental Assessment of the Hubei Road Network Plan (2002-2020) (HRNP) was introduced as one of the World Bank's pilot SEA projects. An effective framework was developed to investigate the functional relationship between the road network and its potential air pollutant emissions. In this study,two indicators were identified:emission intensity/ inventory of pollutants and the spatial distribution of the most polluted areas. Because strategic actions are inherently nebulous and data quality is often disappointing,three alternative scenarios were employed to address uncertainties and data/scale issues. Calculations were made using emission models and results were analyzed with the help of statistical tools and the geographic information system (GIS). The results from the project implementation and the feedback from the World Bank have both shown that the proposed framework is effective in the transport SEA process.

The sodium aluminate solution evaporation process is the primary energy consuming step in Bayer alumina production. Due to the individuality of experience and the subjectivity of preferences, operators have different regulatory effects. In particular, the evaporation process is subject to uncertainty due to lots of factors, such as scarification and environmental variation,which leads to sharp fluctuations in energy consumption during the regulation process. To address unstable control effects resulting from a lack of experience and knowledge, an industrial large language model(LLM) based on hybrid retrieval augmented generation(RAG) is proposed to make efficient operation decision. First, a domain knowledge base of the sodium aluminate solution evaporation process is constructed, containing scientific papers, operational reports,and technical manuals. Second, utilizing the knowledge base, the combination of RAG with LLMs is investigated to provide solutions for operators to effectively stabilize the sodium aluminate solution evaporation process. Third, an automated text evaluation technique based on triplet is proposed to effectively evaluate the performance of LLMs for practical *** sets of experiment indicates, comparing to other five methods, the response of industrial LLM is more accurate and satisfactory in both task of ‘Evaluating Correctness' and ‘Text Generation'. The ‘Manual evaluation' experiment shows that automated evaluation methods can achieve evaluation rankings that are consistent with manual evaluation, and maintain a strong correlation with manual evaluation. Moreover, those methods would serve as a potential guide for decision-making in the sodium aluminate solution evaporation process.

Food waste generation is a pressing issue that requires urgent attention and concerted efforts *** staggering amount of food wasted each year not only wastes valuable resources but also exacerbates environmental,economic,and social *** Waste Management(FWM)consists of a complex array of criteria and sub-criteria,and treatments which seems *** is a need to evaluate the FWM with the help of important criteria and sub-criteria and treatments to address this *** this study,we identified four important criteria,21 sub-criteria,and four alternatives of FWM for the case of Malaysia using the integrated approach of literature review and expert ***,we employed the approach of Modified Fuzzy Improved Analytical Hierarchy Process(IAHP)to corroborate the interrelationships among the identified criteria and sub-criteria,and their associated *** study undertakes linear normalization methods to transform data into comparable numerical values and the Geometric Mean method to handle uncertainty in human ***,the Centroid method is employed to convert fuzzy weights into crisp sets for ease of *** results indicate that environmental is the most essential criterion,followed by social,economic,and *** addition,air and water pollution is identified as the most critical *** Soldier Fly is discovered as the most sustainable FWM treatment,since it performs the best while meeting all the criteria and sub-criteria *** analysis demonstrates that the outputs from the proposed method are robust and *** finding suggests a proper and robust approach to help decision-makers select suitable FWM treatments to tackle various criteria and alternatives especially when handling inconsistent and uncertain judgments during evaluation.

Relationship between the Stratospheric Arctic Vortex and Surface Air Temperature in the Midlatitudes of the Northern Hemisphere

It is known that different relationships exist between the strength and displacement of the stratospheric polar vortex(SPV),and the surface air temperature(SAT)patterns in Eurasia and North America,but the mechanisms behind these relationships remain unclear,especially on an interannual *** on empirical orthogonal function(EOF)analysis using NCEP reanalysis data over 1958–2018,this study attempts to ascertain the relationship between the SPV intensity and displacement over the Arctic and the SATs in the midlatitudes of the Northern *** results indicate that a strengthened SPV corresponds to an SAT increase in Eurasia and a decrease in eastern North America and *** the SPV is shifted towards Eurasia,however,a corresponding SAT increase occurs in both North America and Eurasia,with a larger increase in North America than in ***,a strengthened SPV tends to correspond to a positive North Atlantic Oscillation-like circulation in the troposphere with negative geopotential height(GH)anomalies in Greenland and eastern North American continent and positive GH anomalies to the north of 45°N in Eurasia,which corresponds to lower SATs in North America than in ***,when the SPV shifted towards Eurasia,it was accompanied by a positive Pacific/North American-like pattern with a deepened Aleutian low,which corresponds to the increasing SATs in North *** tropospheric circulation changes are related to the response of tropospheric planetary wave activity to the SPV.A strengthened SPV corresponds to the weakening of tropospheric planetary wave-1 waves,which is accompanied by a negative GH in North America but a positive GH in *** the SPV shifted towards Eurasia,the tropospheric planetary wave-1(-2)waves strengthened(weakened),and the combined effects of the planetary wave-1 and wave-2 waves would cause positive GH anomalies in both Eurasia and North America.

Projected changes in extreme snowfall events over the Tibetan Plateau based on a set of RCM simulations

Extreme snowfall events over the Tibetan Plateau(TP)cause considerable damage to local society and natural *** this study,the authors investigate the projected changes in such events over the TP and its surrounding areas based on an ensemble of a set of 21st century climate change projections using a regional climate model,*** model is driven by five CMIP5 global climate models at a grid spacing of 25 km,under the RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 *** modified ETCCDI extreme indices-namely,SNOWTOT,S1mm,S10mm,and Sx5day-are employed to characterize the extreme snowfall ***4 generally reproduces the spatial distribution of the indices over the region,although with a tendency of *** the projected changes,a general decrease in SNOWTOT is found over most of the TP,with greater magnitude and better cross-simulation agreement over the eastern *** the simulations project an overall decrease in S1mm,ranging from a 25%decrease in the west and to a 50%decrease in the east of the *** S10mm and Sx5day are projected to decrease over the eastern part and increase over the central and western parts of the ***,S10mm shows a marked increase(more than double)with high cross-simulation agreement over the central *** increases in all four indices are found over the Tarim and Qaidam basins,and northwestern China north of the *** projected changes show topographic dependence over the TP in the latitudinal direction,and tend to decrease/increase in low-/high-altitude areas.

APMAA 2012 Annual Conference Management Accounting: The Optimization of Management Control

This study presents the first substantial exploration of the processes of strategic management in the public sector of the United Arab Emirates（UAE）. It was designed to survey the way in which public organizations formulate, implement and evaluate their strategic plans. Based on an analysis of 172 usable questionnaires from 67 organizations, the results show that the practice of strategic management has become regular and standard and can be considered as the centerpiece of the public management reform in the UAE public organizations over the last few years. The study also shows that there is very little variation in the practice of strategic management between federal and local organizations. It concludes that the sampled organizations have moved from the stage of strategic planning to that of strategic action. The implications of these results for practitioners and public management research are discussed.

Study of spatial resolution of the associated alpha particle imaging–time-of-flight method

Associated alpha particle imaging based on the time-of-flight(API-TOF) technique is an advanced neutron analysis method, which is capable of discriminating material nuclides and three-dimensional imaging of the spatial distribution of material nuclei. In this paper, the spatial resolution of API-TOF and its effects are studied using mathematical analysis and Monte Carlo numerical simulation. The results can provide guidance and assist in designing of API-TOF detection devices. First, a mathematical analysis of the imaging principles of the API-TOF was carried out, and the calculation formulas of the spatial resolution of API-TOF were deduced. Next, the relationship between the device layout and the spatial resolution of the API-TOF detection device was studied. The concept of a typical API-TOF detection device with an optimized structure was proposed. Then, the spatial distribution of the spatial resolution of the typical API-TOF detection device was analyzed, and the effects of the time resolution and the neutron emission angle resolution on the spatial resolution were studied. The results show that spatial resolutions better than 1 cm can be achieved by improving the time resolution and the neutron emission angle resolution to appropriate levels. Finally, a Monte Carlo numerical simulation program was developed for the study of the APITOF and was used to calculate the spatial resolutions of the API-TOF. The comparison of the results shows that thespatial resolutions calculated based on the Monte Carlo numerical simulation are in good agreement with those calculated based on the mathematical analysis. This verifies the mathematical analysis and the evaluation of the effects of the spatial resolution of the API-TOF in this study.
