This work aimed to study the comprehensive effects of photo-oxidation and biodegradation on different failure stages of polyester coatings,which were exposed to the tropical rainforest *** surface morphology,aging products,local aging characteristics and electrochemical behavior of the coatings were characterized with scanning electron microscope(SEM),fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and high-resolution dispersive Raman *** results showed that the surface of coatings became rougher and fungal hyphae distributed more densely on surface with the increasing of exposure *** the aspect of polymer structure,the ultraviolet radiation destroyed the main chain of polyester through the photo-oxidation process,resulting in the breakage of aliphatic ester bonds and the formation of ***,the metabolites of fungi can promote the hydrolysis of oligomers produced by the *** a short,the photo-oxidation could facilitate the biodegradation of the *** the synergistic effect of UV photo-oxidation and fungal biodegradation,a rapid diffusion tunnel between the coating surface and the metal substrate was established at the pore defects of the coating,which finally accelerated the corrosion failure process of the *** main corrosion products includeα-Fe_(2)O_(3),ZnO and Zn_(5)(OH)_(6)(CO_(3))_(2).

Temper rolling,as a final manufacturing procedure,brings the change of surface features and hence affects the corrosion behaviors of interstitial-free(IF)*** study investigates changes in residual stress,microstructure,and surface topography of IF steel using X-ray diffraction,electron backscatter diffraction,and optical interferometric *** the synthetic influence of surface features on the corrosion process of the steel was evaluated by damp heat tests and electrochemical *** showed that low tensile and compressive residual stresses are introduced to the surface of the IF *** grains had a grain orientation spread(GOS)value greater than 0.50 after temper ***,temper rolling caused a slight change in the surface profile of the IF *** compressive residual stress had an overwhelming role at the macroscopic level,in retarding the corrosion evolution process of IF steel,as well as in decreasing the average corrosion *** corrosion was more likely to initiate and propagate in matrices with a high GOS value,which played the determinant role at the microscopic ***,the depth of valley in the surface profile could affect the diffusion process involved in the electrode reactions,which was more likely to exert an extra influence on the corrosion rate of IF steel.

The thermal insulation performance of riser is very important to the shrinkage porosity and solidification structure of ingot,but it is difficult to significantly improve due to the limit of thermal conductivity of riser material.A new type of hollow insulation riser was proposed based on the low thermal conductivity of air,which aims to improve the thermal insulation performance of riser.A 14.5-t steel ingot was prepared using the hollow insulation riser,and the casting temperature was 1500°*** temperature evolution of the external surface of mold during solidification was measured using an infrared temperature instrument.A numerical model was established to simulate the porosity and solidification structure of *** reliability of numerical simulation was verified by comparing simulation and experimental *** show that the insulation performance of the riser can be significantly improved through application of the hollow insulation *** with solid insulation sleeve,the shrinkage cavity depth was decreased and the position of porosity was raised when hollow insulation riser was applied.

There are four types of Mg–Al–Si–O inclusions observed in the Mg-treated Al-deoxidized ultra-low-carbon steel con-taining trace Si,including SiO_(2),2MgO·SiO_(2),3Al_(2)O_(3)·2SiO_(2),and 2MgO·Al_(2)O_(3)·5SiO_(2)and their composite *** FactSage,the phase relationship of Mg–Al–Si–O system at 1473–2073 K was calculated using FactSage software,and the change in Si content can change the stable region range of different Mg–Al–Si–O-based *** on the types of inclusions observed experimentally,the formation pathways of inclusions were predicted and a kinetic model was established to describe the formation process of the xMgO·yAl_(2)O_(3)–Mg–Al–Si–O and xAl_(2)O_(3)·ySiO_(2)–Mg–Al–Si–O inclusions.

The effect of microstructures on strength,strain capacity and low temperature toughness of a micro-alloyed pipeline steel was *** various dual-phase microstructures,namely,acicular ferrite and a small amount of(around 2 vol.%)polygonal ferrite(AF+PF),polygonal ferrite and bainite(PF+B),polygonal ferrite and martensite/austenite islands(PF+M/A),polygonal ferrite and martensite(PF+M)and elongated polygonal ferrite and martensite(ePF+M),have been *** results show that AF+PF microstructure has high yield strength and excellent low temperature toughness,whereas its yield ratio is the *** ferrite-based dual-phase steels,PF+B,PF+M/A and PF+M microstructures show better strain capacity and low temperature *** strain capacity and low temperature toughness of ePF+M microstructure are the worst due to its high *** relationship between microstructure,strength,strain capacity and toughness has been *** on the results,the optimum microstructure for a better combination of strength,strain capacity and toughness is suggested to be the one having appropriate polygonal ferrite as second phase in an acicular ferrite matrix.

In this work,the corrosion behavior of medium-carbon steels(45,45 Cu and 45 Cuq steels)in acidic chloride environment was *** results indicated that the micro-galvanic effect between the anodic ferrite matrix phase and the cathodic cementite secondary phase notably affected the corrosion resistance of the three *** 45 steel,serious pitting corrosion happened in and around the pearlite regions,and a large number of lamellar cementite was fixed in the corrosion ***,the continuously increasing superficial area of cathodic cementite enhanced the micro-galvanic corrosion,resulting in a rapidly increase in corrosion rate with *** for 45 Cu and 45 Cuq steels,macroscopic uniform corrosion occurred,and the cementite accumulation was markedly reduced as compared with 45 steel,thus the micro-galvanic effect was weakened and the corrosion rate was decreased *** these,45 Cuq steel showed the most stable and excellent corrosion resistance during long-term corrosion,indicating the occurrence of a synergistic effect between cementite spheroidization and Cu alloying,thereby significantly improving the corrosion resistance of 45 steel.

The morphology and characteristics of granular bainite (GB) in pipeline steels at different continuous cooling rates were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD). The results show that the morphology of ferrite matrix in GB turned from the lath sheaf structure into the nearly equiaxed large grain with the cooling rate decreasing from high (60℃/s) to low (5-10℃/s). At the medium cooling rate (20-40℃/s), GB consisted of the irregular ferrite matrix, the granular martensite/austenite (M/A) constituents and abundant substructures inside. The formation of the irregular ferrite and substructure was attributed to the high-temperature recovery which occurred at relatively high-temperature stage before phase transformation. The granular morphology of M/A constitu-ents was formed from the carbon-rich triple junctions which were produced by the multidirectional substructure interfaces converged with each other. Particularly, some martensite in M/A constituents was misoriented from the adjacent ferrite by very small misorientation angle, which could be characterized by the mean band contrast function of EBSD qualitatively or semiquantitatively.

Before and after heat treatment,0Cr15Ni5Cu3MoN stainless steel(SS)samples were immersed in sulfate-reducing bacteria(SRB)environment to study the effect of heat treatment on the antimicrobial properties of Cu-containing stainless *** effect of heat treatment on the corrosion resistance and antibacterial ability of 0Cr15Ni5Cu3MoN SS was studied by scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,laser scanning confocal microscopy,and *** results show that 0Cr15Cu3 SS has better antibacterial properties with fewer bacteria adsorbed on the surface after heat treatment,and its corrosion resistance is significantly ***,on the 7th day of immersion,the corrosion resistance of the heat-treated stainless steel was lower than that of the rolled stainless *** was due to the fact that the rolled samples were protected by biofilm at this time,while the surface bacteria on the heat-treated samples died,resulting in the exposure of the substrate surface and thus reducing the corrosion resistance of the heat-treated ***,because of the strong bactericidal properties of the heat-treated Cu-containing stainless steel,the corrosion resistance of the samples suddenly decreases in the middle stage of corrosion,and this discovery provides a new view to study the corrosion process of Cu-containing stainless steel in the SRB environment.

Influence of cementite spheroidization on relieving the micro-galvanic effect of ferrite-pearlite steel in acidic chloride environment

The corrosion behavior of the as-received steel and the spheroidized steel in acidic chloride environment was investigated. The results indicate the corrosion mode and corrosion rate of two steels are diverse due to their difference in microstructure. For as-received steel with ferrite-pearlite microstructure, severe localized corrosion happens on the pearlite regions, and plenty of cathodic cementite remains in the pits, further strengthening the micro-galvanic effect and accelerating the corrosion rate. While for spheroidized steel with tempered martensite microstructure, the nanosized cementite particles evenly distributed on the ferrite substrate are easy to fall off, which can significantly reduce the cementite accumulation on the steel surface, relieving the acceleration effect of micro-galvanic corrosion.
