From blocker to booster:Harnessing garnet surface chemistry for advanced solid-state electrolytes

Garnet electrolytes with high ionic conductivity and electrochemical stability are widely used as fillers to fabricate composite solid electrolytes(CPEs)within polymer ***,the performance of CPEs is significantly influenced by the surface characteristics of the garnet ***,the impact of garnet surface characteristics on CPEs was systematically investigated and a conversion from a typically unstable and Lewis basic surface to a more stable Lewis acidic surface was realized,which is shown to be more conductive to the improved performance of *** simultaneously removing the Li_(2)CO_(3)layer and applying a Li-Al-O coating,the influence of surface characteristics on CPEs was *** Lewis acid Li-Al-O surface coating not only promotes lithium salt dissociation,improving the ionic conductivity and ionic transfer number,but also prevents the reformation of the passive Lewis basic Li_(2)CO_(3)*** to garnet with a Lewis basic Li_(2)CO_(3)surface,the garnet modified with a Lewis acid Li-Al-O coating enhances CPEs,which exhibit an improved critical current density of 1.0 mA·cm^(-2)and highly stable lithium symmetric cell cycling for 400 h at 0.2 mA·cm^(-2).This research highlights the importance of surface chemistry in the design of high-performance solid-state batteries and presents a strategic modification approach for garnetbased CPEs.

A novel carbazole quaternary ammonium compound（abbreviated as T_2） had been synthesized and characterized by ~1H NMR, ^（13）C NMR and Mass spectrometry. The single-crystal structure has been determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The electrochemical and two-photon absorption properties of T_2 were systematically studied by cyclic voltammetry and Z-scan determination methods, respectively. The results suggested that T_2 had a good oxidation-reduction and excellent nonlinear optical property. The two-photon absorption（TPA） value has a maximum corresponding to cross section σ = 7963.3 GM（Goeppert-Mayer units） at 700 nm, indicating potential applications in nonlinear optical materials. Furthermore, attributing to the excellent water solubility and low cytotoxicity, the compound was explored on its primary application in biological imaging.

A novel pyridine derivate, 9-hexyl-3-（（pyridin-4-yl）vinyl）-9H-carbazole, was synthesized and characterized by 1H NMR spectra and X-ray diffraction analysis. The complex crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P21/n with a = 9.111（5）, b = 8.239（5）, c = 26.835（5） A, β = 95.340（5）°, Mr = 354.48, V = 2005.6（17） A3, Z = 4, Dc = 1.174 g/cm3,μ = 0.068 mm^-1, F（000） = 760, R = 0.0565 and wR = 0.1550 for 12635 observed reflections （I 〉 2σ（I））. Density functional theory （DFT） calculations were carried out to interpret its UV-Vis spectra, and the results are in agreement with the available experiments.

A novel terpyridine-based complex CdL＇S2 （L＇ = oxide of L; L = 10-hexyl-3-（2,6- di（pyridine-2-yl）pyridine-4-yl）-10H-phenothiazine） has been solvothermally synthesized and characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, 1HNMR and X-ray crystallography. The sulfur of phenothiazine moiety was oxidized when the crystal is formed. The complex C36H37CdN5O2S3 crystallizes in triclinic, space group P1 with a = 9.4452（9）, b = 13.0181（14）, c = 14.6721（18） A, a = 73.872（1）, β = 81.531（1）, y = 87.547（2）°, V= 1714.2（3） A3, Mr = 780.29, Dc= 1.512 ***-3,μ = 0.861 mm-l, F（000） = 800, Z = 2, the final R = 0.0456 and wR = 0.1059 for I 〉 2σ-（I）. The Cd（II） is coordinated by two terminal sulfur ions and three pyridyl nitrogen atoms in a distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry. Universal hydrogen bonds between the neighboring molecules have generated a supramolecular arrangement which contributes to the stability of the title complex. Fluorescence property and thermogravimetry of the complex have also been investigated and discussed.

As a wide-bandgap semiconductor(WBG), β-Ga_2O_3 is expected to be applied to power electronics and solar blind UV photodetectors. In this review, defects in β-Ga_2O_3 single crystals were summarized, including dislocations, voids, twin, and small defects. Their effects on device performance were discussed. Dislocations and their surrounding regions can act as paths for the leakage current of SBD in single crystals. However, not all voids lead to leakage current. There's no strong evidence yet to show small defects affect the electrical properties. Doping impurity was definitely irrelated to the leakage current. Finally, the formation mechanism of the defects was analyzed. Most small defects were induced by mechanical damages. The screw dislocation originated from a subgrain boundary. The edge dislocation lying on a plane slightly tilted towards the(102) plane, the(101) being the possible slip plane. The voids defects like hollow nanopipes, PNPs, NSGs and line-shaped grooves may be caused by the condensation of excess oxygen vacancies, penetration of tiny bubbles or local meltback. The nucleation of twin lamellae occurred at the initial stage of "shoulder part" during the crystal growth. These results are helpful in controlling the occurrence of crystal defects and improving the device performance.

III-V Semiconductors containing a small amount of Bi, known as dilute bismides, have attracted great interest in recent years, due to the large band-gap reduction and other unique properties [1,2]. Previous studies have been pri- marily focused on the growth and optical properties of the GaAs-based bismuthides [3], while the properties of other dilute bismides are less well understood. Berding et al. [4] theoretically predicted that InPBi is expected to be an attractive candidate for narrow-gap applications. Experimentally, the InPBi alloy with good single crystal quality has been successfully synthesized recently and exhibits strong and broad photoluminescence at room temperature [5,6]. However, the electric transport characteristics of the InPBi alloy are poorly understood. In this work, we systematically investigate the effect of Bi incorporation on electric transport properties of the InP1-xBix alloys.

In this paper, a novel photonic crystal fiber （PCF） with high birefringence and nonlinearity is designed. The charac- teristics of birefringence, dispersion and nonlinearity are studied by using the full-vector finite element method （FVFEM）. The numerical results show that the phase birefringence and nonlinear coefficient of PCF can be up to 4.51× 10-3 and 32.8972 ***-1 at 1.55 μm, respectively. The proposed PCF could be found to have important applications in the polarization-dependent nonlinear optics such as the pulse compress and reshaping in the C waveband.

The bulk nanocomposite magnets of Nd9Fes1-xTi4C2Nb4Bx （x= 11, 13, 15） in sheet form with the thickness of 0.7 mm were prepared by copper mold suction casting and subsequently annealing. The microstructure evolution and magnetic properties of bulk magnets were studied. It was shown that the as-cast microstmcture ofbtflk alloys were composed ofNdEFe14B, a-Fe, FeaB crystalline phases and an amorphous matrix, and that the glass formability of alloy was improved with increasing the B content. The DSC analysis showed that the as-cast bulk alloys had the crystallization behavior of a two-step process. After annealing at the temperatures which was 40453 K higher than their onset temperatures of the second exothermic peak, Nd9Fe81 xTi4C2Nb4Bx （x=11, 13, 15） bulk alloys obtained a finely mixed structure which were composed of Nd2Fe14B, a-Fe, Fe3B, （Nb,Ti）C crystalline phases and a residual amorphous phase, whose magnetic properties were significantly enhanced. For the bulk magnets of Nd9Fes1-xTi4CENb4Bx （x=11, 13, 15）, the optimal magnetic properties of Br=0.63 T, iHc= 155.1 kA/m, （BH）max= 18.73 kJ/m3 could be achieved when x= 13 after annealing at 983 K for 10 min.

The pressure-induced structural evolution of apatite-type La9.33Si6026 was systematically studied using in situ syn- chrotron x-ray diffraction （XRD）. The XRD spectra indicated that a subtly reversible phase transition from P63/m to P63 symmetry occurred at ~ 13.6 GPa because of the tilting of the SiO4 tetrahedra under compression. Furthermore, the La9.33Si6026 exhibited a higher axial compression ratio for the a-axis than the c-axis, owing to the different axial arrange- ment of the SiO4 tetrahedra. Interestingly, the high-pressure phase showed compressibility unusually higher than that of the initial phase, suggesting that the low P63 symmetry provided more degrees of freedom. Moreover, the La9.33Si6026 exhibited a lower phase transition pressure （PT） and a higher lattice compression than LaloSi6027. Comparisons between La9.33Si6026 and LaloSi6027 provided a deeper understanding of the effect of interstitial oxygen atoms on the structural evolution of apatite-type lanthanum silicates （ATLSs）.
