OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the anti-platelet aggregation effects of extracts from 31 Traditional chinese medicines(TCM) with the property of activating blood and resolving stasis in terms of TCM ***: The 31 TCMs extracts were prepared using water, 90% ethanol and ethyl acetate., and the effects on anti-platelet aggregation were tested on a platelet aggregation analyzer in vitro with adenosine 5'-diphosphate, bovine thrombin and arachi-donic acid(AA) as aggregation inducers, respectively. Aspirin was the positive ***: Lots of the tested TCMs had inhibitory effects with concentration-dependent manner on platelet aggregations induced by various ***, some of the TCMs such as Chuanxiong(Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Yanhusuo(Rhizoma Corydalis Yanhusuo) and Danshen(Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) showed good anti-platelet aggregation effect similar or higher than that in positive control ***: The study provided scientific references that several TCMs such as Chuanxiong(Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Yanhusuo(Rhizoma Corydalis Yanhusuo) and Danshen(Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae),possess the property of anti-platelet aggregation.

We develop a high-speed tunable, quasi-continuous-wave laser source for frequency domain （FD） optical coherence tomography （OCT）. The laser resonance is realized within a unidirectional all-fiber ring cavity consisting of a fiber coupler, two fiber isolators, a semiconductor optical amplifier （SOA）, and a fiber Fabry- Perot tunable filter （FFP-TF） for frequency tuning. Light output from the coupler is further amplified and spectral shaped by a booster SOA terminated at both ends with two isolators. The developed laser source provides up to 8000 sweeps per second over a full-width wavelength tuning range of 120 nm at center wavelength of 1320 nm with an average power of 9 mW, yielding an axial resolution of 13.6μm in air and a maximum sensitivity of about 112 dB for OCT imaging. The instantaneous linewidth is about 0.08 nm, enabling OCT imaging over an axial range of 3.4 mm in air. For optimization consideration based on this custom-built swept laser, experimental study on imaging quality relevant parameters of the swept laser with sine and ramp driving waveforms to the FFP-TF is conducted, and investigation of the swept laser on the cavity length is done. Implementing the laser source in our established swept source based OCT （SS-OCT） system, real-time structural imaging of biological tissue is demonstrated.

Objective: To establish a rapid, accurate and reliable analytical method for the simultaneous determination of four major anthraquinones in Polygoni Multiflori Radix(PMR) using single reference ***: The four components including emodin-8-O-β-D-(EMG), physcion-8-O-β-D-glucoside, emodin and physcion were separated on an ODS C18 column within 13 min and detected at 280 nm. Emodin was selected as the reference standard, and the response factor for each analyte with respect to emodin were calculated. Robustness were also tested including different columns, equipments, temperatures, detection wavelengths, and other chromatographic conditions which might influence stability of response ***: The method was validated in terms of linearity(r^2> 0.9995), LOQs(0.820–3.05 ng/m L), LODs(0.180–0.920 ng/m L), precision,accuracy(95.8–103.6%, RSD quality control of this herbal drug.

Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius have similar bioactive components and morphological characteristics, but they are known to have different medicinal values, high-sensitive and accurate method is expected to identify the sources of ginseng products and evaluate the quality, but with a huge challenge. Our established UHPLC-TOF/MS method coupled with orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) model based on 18 ginsenosides was applied to discriminate the sources of raw medicinal materials in ginseng products, and nested PCR strategy was used to discover 6 novel single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)sites in functional dammarenediol synthase(DS) gene for genetic authentication of P. ginseng and P. quinquefolius for the first ***-DA model could identify the sources of raw ginseng materials are real or not. SNP markers were applied to identify ginseng fresh samples as well as commercial products, and proved to be successful. This established molecular method can tell exact source information of adulterants, and it was highly sensitive and specific even when total DNA amount was only 0.1 ng and the adulteration was as low as 1%. Therefore, this study made an attempt at the exploration of new type SNP marker for variety authentication and function regulation at the same time, and the combination of chemical and molecular discrimination methods provided the comprehensive evaluation and authentication for the sources of ginseng herbs and products.

Abrus mollis is a widely used traditional chinese medicine for treating acute and chronic hepatitis, steatosis, and fibrosis. It was found that the total flavonoid C-glycosides from Abrus mollis extract(AME) showed potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective activities. To further investigate the hepatoprotective effect of AME and its possible mechanisms, lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced liver injury models were applied in the current study. The results indicated that AME significantly attenuated LPS-induced lipid accumulation in mouse primary hepatocytes as measured by triglyceride(TG) and total cholesterol(TC) assays and Oil Red O staining. Meanwhile, AME exerted a protective effect on LPS-induced liver injury as shown by decreased liver index, serum aminotransferase levels, and hepatic lipid accumulation. Real-time PCR and immunoblot data suggested that AME reversed the LPS-mediated lipid metabolism gene expression, such as sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1(SREBP-1), fatty acid synthase(FAS), and acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1(ACC1). In addition, LPS-induced overexpression of activating transcription factor 4(ATF4), X-box-binding protein-1(XBP-1), and C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP) were dramatically reversed by AME. Furthermore, AME also decreased the expression of LPS-enhanced interleukin-6(IL-6) and cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2). Here, it is demonstrated for the first time that AME ameliorated LPS-induced hepatic lipid accumulation and that this effect of AME can be attributed to its modulation of hepatic de novo fatty acid synthesis. This study also suggested that the hepatoprotective effect of AME may be related to its down-regulation of unfolded protein response(UPR) activation.

The flower buds of Lonicera macranthoides(Shan Yin-Hua), represent an important traditional chinese medicine and food ingredient. A phytochemical investigation of the 70% EtOH extract of the flower buds of L. macranthoides resulted in the isolation of 12 triterpenoids(1-12), including two new ursane-type nortriterpenes, 2α, 24-dihydroxy-23-nor-ursolic acid(1) and 2α, 4α-dihydroxy-23-nor-ursolic acid(2). Their structures were established by multiple spectroscopic methods and comparison with literature data. All isolated compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory effects in LPS-activated RAW264.7 cells. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited inhibitory effects on iNOS at the concentration of 30 μmol·L^(-1).

Constrained maximum weighted bipartite matching:a novel approach to radio broadcast scheduling

Given a set of radio broadcast programs, the radio broadcast scheduling problem is to allocate a set of devices to transmit the programs to achieve the optimal sound quality. In this article, we propose a complete algorithm to solve the problem, which is based on a branch-and-bound(BnB) algorithm. We formulate the problem with a new model, called constrained maximum weighted bipartite matching(CMBM),i.e., the maximum matching problem on a weighted bipartite graph with constraints. For the reduced matching problem, we propose a novel BnB algorithm by introducing three new strategies, including the highest quality first, the least conflict first and the more edge first. We also establish an upper bound estimating function for pruning the search space of the algorithm. The experimental results show that our new algorithm can quickly find the optimal solution for the radio broadcast scheduling problem at small scales, and has higher scalability for the problems at large scales than the existing complete algorithm.
