Space Charge Transient Kinetic Characteristics in DC Air Corona Discharge at Atmospheric Pressure

Investigating the corona mechanism plays a key role in enhancing the performance of electrical insulation systems. Numerical simulation offers a better understanding of the physical characteristics of air corona discharges. Using a two-dimensional axisymmetrical kinetics model, into which the photoionization effect is incorporated, the DC air corona discharge at atmosphere pressure is studied. The plasma model is based on a self-consistent, multi-component, and con- tinuum description of the air discharge, which is comprised of 12 species and 22 reactions. The discharge voltage-current characteristic predicted by the model is found to be in quite good agree- ment with experimental measurements. The behavior of the electronic avalanche progress is Mso described. 0＋ and N＋ are the dominant positive ions, and the values of 0- and 02 densities are much smaller than that of the electron. The electron and positive ion have a low-density thin layer near the anode, which is a result of the surface reaction and absorption effect of the electrode. As time progresses, the electric field increases and extends along the cathode surface, whereas the cathode fall shrinks after the corona discharge hits the cathode; thus, in the cathode sheath, the electron temperature increases and the position of its peak approaches to the cathode. The present computational model contributes to the understanding of this physical mechanism, and suggests ways to improve the electrical insulation system.

Study on the water-tree ageing characteristics of polyethylene/organic montmorillonite and crosslinked polyethylene/organic montmorillonite nanocomposites

The dispersion state of nanoparticles affects the properties of composites,and the crosslinking process of polymers affects the dispersion state of *** order to investigate the effects of crosslinking behaviour on the water-tree ageing characteristics of nanocomposite dielectrics at the molecular level,polyethylene/organic-montmorillonite(PE/organic montmorillonite(OMMT))and crosslinked polyethylene/organic-montmorillonite(XLPE/OMMT)nanocomposites were prepared by the melt blending method,after which the accelerated water-tree ageing experiments were conducted using a needle *** transform infrared spectroscopy,differential scanning calorimetry,successive self-nucleation annealing and scanning electron microscope(SEM)tests were conducted to characterise the properties of the samples before and after watertree *** results indicate that the initiation probability and the length of water trees in XLPE/OMMT are less than those in PE/*** carbonyl index in the watertree area of the two nanocomposites increases,indicating that the water-tree ageing is the result of electrochemical *** crystallisability of the water-tree area degrades,decreasing the crystallinity and the lamellar *** growth of water trees destroys molecular chains and crystal structures,which results in local *** are many holes for the water tree growth in the PE/OMMT ***,the crosslinked meshwork not only restricts the movement of macromolecular chains but also increases the stability of the lamellar barrier effect of *** combination of the two effects significantly improves the water-tree resistance of the XLPE/OMMT nanocomposite.

Probabilistic production simulation of a power system with wind power penetration based on improved UGF techniques

Effect of chemical corrosion on charge transport behaviour in epoxy/Al_(2)O_(3)nanocomposite irradiated by gamma ray

Chemical corrosion and gamma‐ray irradiation appeared with the loss of coolant accident may seriously threaten the safe operation of a nuclear power plant,where epoxy resin(ER)‐based materials are widely *** is urgent to study the effects of the corrosion and the irradiation on the electrical performance in an ER‐based *** this work,ER/Al_(2)O_(3)nanocomposite samples with 0,1,3,5‐wt%nano Al2O3 filler content were prepared at the thickness of 2 mm,and the total gamma irradiation dose was 0,500,and 1000 *** samples were chemically corroded in a boric acid solution(pH=4.7)and a trisodium phosphate alkaline solution(pH=11)at 60℃and 100℃for 48 *** transport behaviour in the samples was derived from the surface potential decay *** addition,the sample structures were characterised to analyse the corrosion mechanism in the *** results indicated that the depth and the density of the trap showed a temperature‐dependent manner associated with the *** the addition of appropriate content of the filler,the trap centre was deepened and the carrier mobility was limited even after the *** is found that the appearance of hydroxyl and carboxyl groups during corrosion,the interaction between the nanoparticle and the matrix and the crosslinking reaction caused by the irradiation are responsible for the variation in charge transport behaviour.

Feasibility analysis and online adjustment of constraints in model predictive control integrated with soft sensor

Feasibility analysis of soft constraints for input and output variables is critical for model predictive control(MPC).When encountering the infeasible situation, some way should be found to adjust the constraints to guarantee that the optimal control law exists. For MPC integrated with soft sensor, considering the soft constraints for critical variables additionally makes it more complicated and difficult for feasibility analysis and constraint adjustment. Therefore, the main contributions are that a linear programming approach is proposed for feasibility analysis, and the corresponding constraint adjustment method and procedure are given as well. The feasibility analysis gives considerations to the manipulated, secondary and critical variables, and the increment of manipulated variables as well. The feasibility analysis and the constraint adjustment are conducted in the entire control process and guarantee the existence of optimal control. In final, a simulation case confirms the contributions in this paper.

Integrated resources planning in microgrids considering interruptible loads and shiftable loads

Demand response has the potential to bring significant benefits to the optimal sizing of distributed generation(DG) resources for microgrids planning. This paper presents an integrated resources planning model considering the impact of interruptible loads(ILs) and shiftable loads(SLs) in microgrids, which simultaneouslydeals with supply side and demand side resources and minimizes the overall planning cost of the microgrid. The proposed model can be applied to offer a quantitative assessment how IL and SL can contribute to microgrid planning. The pure peak clipping model with IL and SL is also provided for comparisons. Moreover, sensitivity analysis of parameters in the model is *** results confirm that the proposed model is an effective method for reducing the planning cost of microgrids. It was also found that the major contributing factors of IL and SL have great impact on the economic benefits of the proposed model in low-carbon economy environments.

A New Topology Pattern for AC-DC Mixed Microgrid

In order to realize the modular design of the microgrid, this paper proposed a new modular topology for the AC-DC mixed microgrid. In that topology, the AC microgrid unit and the DC microgrid unit were packaged together by the back-to-back converter. The battery-supercapacitor hybrid energy storage system was connected to the DC bus of back-to-back converter. By the reasonable design on the battery-supercapacitor hybrid system, the energy storage system could supply the rapid power and energy support for the microgrid spontaneously. The mathematical model and the control algorithm of that microgrid topology were studied. By the simulation analysis, it can be concluded that AC-DC mixed modular microgrid topology could operate steadily on both the grid-connected mode and the isolated mode. Furthermore, we can conclude by the simulation that the designed modular microgrid could operate uninterrupted when the microgrid topology switched from the grid-connected mode to the isolated mode. The seamless switching became the natural property for the modular microgrid. As a result, the modular microgrid topology can be considered as a usual power/load module to realize the friendly power interaction with the power grid.
