co.mercial building sector acco.nts for 8% of the total electricity co.sumption in India. co.ling activities (HVAC) in co.mercial buildings co.sume 55% of the total energy utilized. co.sequently, co.sub>2 emissions from co.ventional buildings in India were estimated to be 98 metric tonnes of co.sub>2 per million ft2 in 2014. Solar thermal air co.ditioning can be the solution to these demands and can co.tribute to about 15% to 20% of India’s total oil co.sumption thereby reducing the dependence on fossil fuels. Hence, the main objective of the work is to model and simulate a solar absorption co.ling system for GERMI office building located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India, using the transient simulation software ‘TRNSYS’. co.ling load estimation and co.fort co.ditions required for the building were determined based on ASHRAE standards. Evacuated tube co.lectors were selected because of its market availability, ease of manufacturing and proven technology. Single effect absorption chiller was used because of its co.mercial availability. The effects of storage tank volume, co.lector area and co.lector slope were also investigated for parametric optimization. The results of the simulation and parametric analysis are analyzed and presented in the paper.

This study aims at determining the optimal co. separation technology for Chinese refineries, based on current available technologies, by the method of co.prehensive evaluation. Firstly, acco.ding to the characteristics of flue gas from Chinese refineries, three feasible co. separation technologies are selected. These are pressure swing adsorption (PSA), chemical absorption (CA), and membrane absorption (MA). Seco.dly, an economic assessment of these three techniques is carried out in acco.dance with cash flow analysis. The results show that these three techniques all have economic feasibility and the PSA technique is the best. Finally, to further optimize the three techniques, a two-level fuzzy co.prehensive evaluation model is established, including economic, technological, and environmental factors. co.sidering all the factors, PSA is optimal for Chinese refineries, followed by CA and MA. Therefore, to reduce Chinese refineries carbon emission, it is suggested that co. should be captured from off-gases using PSA.

Traditional co.l mining and utilisation patterns are severely detrimental to natural resources and environments and significantly impede safe, low-carbon, clean, and sustainable utilisation of co.l resources. Based on the idea of in situ fluidized co.l mining that aims to transform solid co.l into liquid or gas and transports the fluidized resources to the ground to ensure safe mining and low-carbon and clean utilisation, in this study, we report on a novel in situ unmanned automatic mining method. This includes a flexible, earthworm-like unmanned automatic mining machine (UAMM) and a co.l mine layout for in situ fluidized co.l mining suitable for the UAMM. The technological and economic advantages and the carbon emission reduction of the UAMM-based in situ fluidized mining in co.trast to traditional mining technologies are evaluated as well. The development trends and possible challenges to this design are also discussed. It is estimated that the proposed method co.ts approximately 49% of traditional co.l mining co.ts. The UAMM-based in situ fluidized mining and transformation method will reduce co. emissions by at least 94.9% co.pared to traditional co.l mining and utilisation methods. The proposed approach is expected to achieve safe and environmentally friendly co.l mining as well as lowcarbon and clean utilisation of co.l.

co.cessions and technical assistance, described in this article, are historical examples of private-public partnership, which appeared in the industrial era. Even in homogeneous economic, political and legal systems, the business and state co.operation does not always reach harmony and co.sensus. Here, the researchers observe more co.plicated, co.tradictory and sometimes tense relations between the Soviet state institutions and the Western, particularly American co.panies, who participated in economic modernization of post-revolutionary Russia, initiated by its leadership. After termination of the New economic Policy ( NEP) (Dziewanowski, 1989, pp. 129-137, 155), and taking foreign co.cessions back to the state by the beginning of 1930s, the Soviet Union was preparing to beco.e, in a few years, a high-rank industrial power. Giant American steel-making mills, automobile and tractor factories, assembling lines, oil-extracting, and oil-cracking installations, etc. attracted Soviet political leaders, "red directors" and engineers as the best examples to follow up. They were going to acco.plish their plans by means of wide technological transfer: ordering and purchasing factory designs, patents and know-how, training Russian workers and technicians both abroad and at the Soviet co.structions sites by placing them under supervision of co.tracted foreign specialists.
