Effects of Exercise on Behavior and Peripheral Blood Lymphocyte Apoptosis in a Rat Model of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

This study examined the effects of exercise on behavior and peripheral blood leukocyte apoptosis in a rat model of chronic fatigue syndrome （CFS）. Thirty-six healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were equally randomized into 3 groups： the control group, CFS model group and the exercise group in terms of body weight. A total of 25 rats entered the final statistical analysis due to 11 deaths during the study. CFS model was established by subjecting the rats in CFS model group and exercise group to electric shock, chronic restraint stress and cold water swim. Besides, rats in the exercise group took rtmning wheel exercise. After a week of conditioning feeding, model construction and running wheel exercise were performed simultaneously, and lasted for 23 consecutive days. The behavior experiments, including running wheel exercise, open-field test, tail suspension test and Morris water maze test, were conducted, either before or after the model establishment. Rats were sacrificed and peripheral blood was obtained for the assessment of lymphocyte apoptosis index by flow cytometry （FCM）. It was found that as compared with those in the control group, the weight of the rats was decreased obviously （P〈0.01）, the mobility time in the open-field and the tail suspension tests was shortened significantly （P〈0.01）, the time to locate the platform was enhanced （P〈0.01） and the cell apoptosis index was increased substantially （P〈0.01） in the CSF model group. Meanwhile, in comparison to the model group, the behavior in the open-field and the tail suspension tests was improved significantly （P〈0.05）, and the apoptosis index decreased remarkably （P〈0.01） in the exercise group. It is concluded that sport intervention can prevent lymphocyte apoptosis and improve animal behavior rather than the memory.

Long-term endurance training or physical activity has been confirmed not only to improve physical performance, but to bring about an obvious beneficial effect on human health; however, the mechanism of this effect is not clear. The most studied health adaptations in skeletal muscle response to endurance exercise are increased muscle glycogen level and insulin sensitivity, fiber type transformation toward oxidative myofibers, and increased mitochondrial content/function. Mitochondria are dynamic organelles in eukaryotic cells critical in physical performance and disease occurrence. The mitochondrial life cycle spans biogenesis, maintenance, and clearance. Exercise training may promote each of these processes and confer positive impacts on skeletal muscle contractile and metabolic functions. This review focused on the regulation of these processes by endurance exercise and discussed its potential benefits in health and disease. We presented evidence suggesting that exercise training potentiates not only the biogenesis of mitochondria but also the removal of old and unhealthy mitochondria through mitochondrial quality control.

The molecular dynamic simulation of lithium niobate thin films deposited on silicon substrate is carried out by using the dissipative particle dynamics method. The simulation results show that the Si （111） surface is more suitable for the growth of smooth LiNbO3 thin films compared to the Si（100） surface, and the optimal deposition temperature is around 873 K, which is consistent with the atomic force microscope results. In addition, the calculation molecular number is increased to take the electron spins and other molecular details into account.

Lactic acid is usually formed during strenuous exercise, and a large amount of lactic acid and slow anaerobic glycolysis in muscle lead to limitations of movement ability. Hydroxyapatite（HAp） is an alkaline inorganic material with a good biocompatibility. It slowly degrades in vivo and releases trace amounts of calcium ions, reducing cell damage by reacting with polylactic acid and neutralizing local acid environment. Whether HAp can reduce the concentration of lactic acid in vivo and improve movement ability is not yet clear. Here, after eight days of training, 40 mice were randomly divided into four groups： control, distilled water, sodium bicarbonate and HAp group. After one day of rest, the mice were intravenously injected via the lateral tail veins with 1 ml distilled water, sodium bicarbonate and HAp suspension（2.2 mg/ml）, respectively, and subjected to a swimming exhaustive experiment（load 10%）. The swimming time of mice in the water, under water and total time were recorded. The exhaustive exercise mice were immediately subject to abdominal cavity anaesthesia. The concentrations of blood, gastrocnemius and myocardial lactic acid as well as serum LDH activity were detected. We demonstrate that HAp can significantly prolong swimming time and improve serum LDH activity, but does not affect lactic acid concentration. In conclusion, intravenous injection of HAp nanoparticles can significantly improve the exhaustive swimming ability of mice mainly because of the elevated blood LDH activity induced by HAp.

AIM To analyze neuromuscular activity patterns of the trunk in healthy controls(H) and back pain patients(BPP) during one-handed lifting of light to heavy loads. METHODS After assessment of back pain(graded chronic pain scale according to von Korff) all subjects(n = 43) performed a warm-up(treadmill walking). Next, subjects were instructed to lift 3 × a 20 kg weight placed in front of them(with both hand) onto a table(height: 0.75 m). Subsequently, all subjects lifted with one hand(left-side, 3 repetitions) a weight of 1 kg(light), 10 kg(middle) and 20 kg(heavy) in random order from the ground up onto the table left of them. Trunk muscle activity was assessed with a 12-lead EMG(6 ventral/6 dorsal muscles; 4000 Hz). EMG-RMS(%) was averaged over the 3 repetitions and analyzed for the whole one-handed lifting cycle, then normalized to RMS of the two-handed lifting. Additionally, the mean(normalized) EMG-RMS of four trunk areas [right/left ventral area(VR/VL); right/left dorsal area(DR/DL)] was calculated. Data were analyzed descriptively(mean ± SD) followed by student's t-test comparing H and BPP(α = 0.05). With respect to the unequal distribution of subjects in H and BPP, a matched-group analysis was conducted. Seven healthy controls were gender- and age-matched(group H_(matched)) to the 7 BPP. In addition, task failure was calculated and compared between H/H_(matched) vs BPP using χ~2. RESULTS Seven subjects(3m/4f; 32 ± 7 years; 171 ± 7 cm; 65 ± 11 kg) were assigned to BPP(pain grade ≥ 2) and 36(13m/23f; 28 ± 8 years; 174 ± 10 cm; 71 ± 12 kg) to H(pain grade ≤ 1). H and BPP did not differ significantly in anthropometrics(P > 0.05). All subjects were able to lift the light and middle loads, but 57% of BPP and 22% of H were not able to lift the heavy load(all women). χ~2 analysis revealed statistically significant differences in task failure between H vs BPP(P = 0.03). This study aimed to determine the infection status,exercise habits,anxiety levels,and sleep quality in Chinese residents who recovered from infection during the period of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** also aimed to investigate the influencing factors of recovery status and aid in improving intervention measures for COVID-19 *** study is a sub-study nested within a cross-sectional investigation of infection and physical and mental health among partially recovered residents in all 34 provincial areas of China during the COVID-19 pandemic.A total of 1013 participants(374 males and 639 females)completed the *** endurance was significantly lower after infection than before infection(pgroups exhibited significantly shorter durations of fever than the sedentary and irregular groups(p?0.033;p?0.021).Additionally,the active group demonstrated significantly fewer recovery days([7.323.24]days)than the sedentary group([7.663.06]days,p?0.035).We found a correlation between age and the recovery time of symptoms after *** noted that a greater number of symptoms corresponded to poorer cardiopulmonary fitness and sleep *** who engage in sedentary lifestyles and irregular exercise regimens generally require prolonged recovery ***,incorporating moderate exercise,psychological support,sleep hygiene and other health interventions into post-COVID-19 recovery measures is imperative.

Assessment of the Anaerobic Speed Reserve during Specific High-Intensity Exercise in Judo Athletes

Purpose This study aimed to describe self-selected intensity and its relationship to performance during a high-intensity all-out judo protocol,and to verify whether athletes with different anaerobic speed reserve(ASR)perform differently during a high-intensity all-out interval uchi-komi(judo-specific skill).Methods We analyzed the performance of 28 judo athletes as a whole group and divided into groups,according to their *** performed several judo-specific protocols using a specific skill:maximal speed sprint(MSS)and maximal aerobic speed(MAS),and high-intensity intermittent uchi-komi protocol(12×20 s all-out:10 s passive recovery).Results The main results demonstrated a decrease in the number of repetitions and an increase in heart rate across the *** with greater ASR performed a higher number of repetitions,compared to the low ASR group,and they were able to exercise at a higher percentage of the MAS(low ASR=126%;SD=13%;high ASR=152%,SD=l9%)and at a lower percentage of MSS compared to the low ASR group(low ASR=84%,SD=7%;high ASR=76%,SD=11%).However,both groups exercised at a similar percentage of their own ASR during the protocol(low ASR=50%,SD=20%;high ASR=53%,SD=19%).Conclusions Athletes with different ASR seem to set their pace at around 50%of their ASR within an all-out uchi-komi ***,the ASR is useful for predicting performance during high-intensity judo-specific interval exercise intervals.
