Altered biomechanics due to amputation can contribute to substantial limitations,influencing sporting *** with lower extremity amputations or congenital lower limb deficiency are encouraged to participate in ***,to compete in Paralympic sports,the candidate must have an impairment that results in lower extremity loss of function and meets or exceeds the sport's minimum impairment criteria(MIC).This review will focus on the MIC for competitive wheelchair *** deficiency is known as one of the MIC used to regulate participation in competitive para-sports since it impacts gait,kinematics,and biomechanics of both the upper and lower ***,it is questionable whether the MIC concerning limb deficiency is set at the correct level for determining eligibility for participating in Paralympic *** study aims to provide an overview of the evidence examining the impact of different partial foot amputation(PFA)levels on gait as a proxy for sporting *** scoping review will be based on a 6-step methodological framework and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis,extension for scoping reviews(PRISMA-ScR).Studies will be selected from PubMed,Embase,CINAHL,and *** authors will screen the titles/abstracts *** studies will be scrutinised,and the same authors will extract *** will be relevant to informing the evidence-based development of MIC for lower limb impairment after PFA and may be extrapolated to specific Paralympic sports,including wheelchair *** will be disseminated through scientific publications and conferences to audiences interested in Paralympic sports.

Wearable devices have been used in the treatment and rehabilitation of ankle *** article systematically reviewed the trials that summarize and evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation treatment after an ankle *** databases,PubMed(1974–2021),Embase,and Web of Science(1950–2021),were *** intervention was any wearable device,and the outcome measures were Activities Scale for Kids performance(ASKp),foot and ankle Outcome Score(FAOS),American Orthopaedic foot and ankle Society(AOFAS),Olerud-Molander ankle Score(OMAS),and Circumference as measured by any validated outcome *** independent authors evaluated the studies with the Cochrane risk-of-bias *** papers were included,involving 476 participants,with a mean age of 29.3±6.7 *** mean duration of wearable devices was 3.83 weeks,and the mean length of training was 3.75 *** devices achieved better results compared with control on the functional performance(standardized mean difference[SMD]0.66;95%confidence interval[CI]0.29 to 1.04;I^(2)=76%;Pankle score(SMD 0.78;95%CI 0.22 to 1.35;I^(2)=82%;Pankle injuries in terms of functional performance and reducing the extent of *** is insufficient evidence from randomized controlled trials(RCTs)to support this for ankle injury patients using wearable ***,there is an need for well-conducted randomized controlled trials investigating more adaptive orthoses to achieve more effective strategies for early functional *** registration number:CRD42021246289.

Balance improvement could contribute to ankle stability for the prevention of ankle *** electrical stimulation(FES)is an effective way of augmenting muscle activity and improving *** study investigated the effect of FES of peroneal muscles on single-and double-leg *** healthy females(age=23:1±1:6 years,height=1:63±0:07m,and weight=63:7±9:9 kg)performed single-and double-leg standing balance tests with eyes open and closed before and after 15-minute FES intervention during treadmill running at a comfortable,self-selected *** of peroneal muscles was provided bilaterally,using an Odstock Dropped foot *** total excursion of the centre of pressure(COP)was calculated to assess the standing balance control *** total excursion of COP in single-and double-leg stance with eyes open reduced significantly after FES intervention by 14.7%(p0:05).Limb preference did not account for balance *** significant difference in total excursion of COP was found between preferred and less preferred limbs with both visual conditions(p>0:05).FES of peroneal muscles improved standing balance control with eyes open in double-leg and single-leg stance and with eyes closed in double-leg *** improvements in balance control with FES treatment did not vary concerning limb preference.
