Cross-Sectional Associations of Lifestyle Behaviors with Depressive Symptoms in Adolescents

This study aimed to examine the associations between lifestyle behaviors and depressive symptoms in ***-reported data from the 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Survey(YRBS)was *** symptoms were set as the outcome *** variables(physical activity,muscle-strengthening exercise,physical education attendance,sports team participation,television watching,video or computer games,and sleep),eating behaviors(fruit intake,vegetable intake,milk intake,and eating breakfast or not),and substance use(alcohol use and cigarette use)were included as explanatory *** logistic regression was used to explore the asso-ciations between lifestyle behaviors and depressive symptoms after adjusting for sex,age,grade,race,and weight *** 13,677 participants who completed the investigation,girls were more than boys(50.3%vs.48.6%).The proportion of participants in grades 9,10,11,and 12 was 26.6,27.2,24.3,and 20.8,*** them,the prevalence of depressive symptoms was 36.0%(weighted%:36.7%[35.1%,38.3%]).Among all the lifestyle behaviors included,participating in no sports teams(OR=1.53[1.32,1.77]),spending more than 2 h in video or computer games(OR=1.64[1.40,1.92]),sleeping less than 8 h nightly(OR=1.79[1.45,2.20]),not eating breakfast(OR=1.56[1.37,1.78]),alcohol use(OR=1.74[1.49,2.02]),and cigarette use(OR=1.83[1.42,2.37])were associated with higher odds of depressive *** reduce depressive symptoms in adolescents,interventions can consider encouraging adolescents to engage in team sports activity,limit time for video or com-puter games,sleep enough,regularly eat breakfast,and avoid using alcohol and *** studies are encouraged to verify our researchﬁndings by using a more improved study design.

Feasibility of breaking up sitting time in mainstream and special schools with a cognitively challenging motor task

Background: Children spend 70% of the school day sitting in class. Classroom-based active breaks can benefit children's physical health, but if the breaks are cognitively demanding(i.e., combine physical exertion and mental engagement), they may also improve focus and cognitive functions. Teachers and students play a crucial role in the successful implementation of active breaks, and their perspectives are critical to the feasibility of these strategies. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility of implementing a cognitively challenging motor task as an active break in mainstream and special primary ***: A total of 5 teachers in 2 mainstream schools and 7 teachers in 1 special school(attended by children with neurodevelopmental disorders) attended a 20-min training on how to implement a 4-min cognitively challenging active break, before conducting a feasibility trial(twice a day for 1 week). To understand individual perceptions, one-on-one semistructured interviews were conducted before and after the trial with teachers, and focus group interviews were conducted with typically developing children after the trial. Questions were based on a predefined framework for feasibility studies. All interviews were audio recorded, transcribed and analyzed in NVivo 11 using a framework approach. A total of 12 teachers(11 females; 7 between 20 and 34 years old) and 34 children(16 girls; 9.3 § 1.7 years, mean § SD) participated in the ***: In mainstream schools, teachers viewed the cognitively challenging motor task as appropriate and potentially beneficial for children's health and focus. Children reported enjoying the active breaks. Teachers in special schools viewed the task as complex and potentially frustrating for children. Associations between parental support for physical activity and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity among Chinese school children： A cross-sectional study

Purpose: The objective of this study was to examine the associations between parental support for physical activity(PA) and levels of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA) among Chinese school ***: Study participants were 81,857 school-aged children(aged 9–17 years; mean age = 13 years; 49.0% boys) and their parents or guardians who took part in the 2016 physical activity and Fitness in China—The Youth Study project. The independent variables included various forms of parental support for PA ascertained through a survey completed by parents or guardians. The dependent variable was the children's average MVPA in minutes per day by self-report. Structure equation modeling was used to examine the associations between parental support for PA and children's MVPA ***: The overall mean for MVPA participation time for the child participants was 48.82 ± 28.71 min/day. Significant associations between various forms of parental support and MVPA among children were found. Parental encouragement, accompanying, financial support, involvement,and role modeling for PA were positively associated with a high level of student MVPA participation. Parental PA knowledge-sharing was not associated with MVPA. The patterns of the associations were similar across sex, residence locale(i.e., urban and rural), and school grades(primary,junior middle, and junior high schools).Conclusion: Findings from this study suggest that, among Chinese school children, parental support for PA is important in promoting and facilitating children's participation in MVPA.

Purpose: To examine the association of physical activity(PA) intensity levels and sedentary time with health-related quality of life(HRQoL) in women with fibromyalgia and whether patients meeting the current PA guidelines present better ***: This cross-sectional study included 407 women with fibromyalgia aged 51.4 ± 7.6 years. The time spent(min/day) in different PA intensity levels(light, moderate, and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA) and sedentary time were measured with triaxial accelerometry. Dynapenia in all-cause mortality and its relationship with sedentary behavior in community-dwelling older adults

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship of dynapenia combined with sedentary behavior(SB)on the risk of mortality in older adults living in a Brazilian community.A total of 322 participants aged60 years from the ELSIA(Longitudinal Study of Elderly Health in Alcobaça)prospective cohort were *** was diagnosed when the handgrip strength was<27 kg for men and<16 kg for *** exposure time to SB was assessed considering the total time spent sitting during one day in the week and one day on the *** combined with dynapenia,we derived the construction of four groups:best behavior(absence of dynapenia and low SB),intermediate behavior(absence of dynapenia and high SB;presence of dynapenia and low SB)and worst behavior(presence of dynapenia and high SB).Mortality was assessed by the follow-up time until death and/or *** the 5-year follow-up of the study,55 participants progressed to *** the adjusted models,the dynapenia and the time spent exposed to SB were analyzed in a combined way,the older adults with worse behavior(high SB and dynapenia)had higher risk ratios for mortality(hazard ratio 2.46;95%confidence interval 1.01–5.97)than the best behavior *** adults with dynapenia are at greater risk for all-cause mortality,which is aggravated by the addition of longer exposure to SB.

Meeting 24-h movement guidelines: Prevalence, correlates, and the relationships with overweight and obesity among Chinese children and adolescents

24-Hour movement behaviours and COVID-19 among children in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:A repeat cross-sectional study

This study investigated how children's 24-hour(24-h)movement behaviours were affected by SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19)in the Kingdom of Saudi *** research examined 24-h movement behaviours in Saudi Arabia seven months after the World Health Organization(WHO)declared COVID-19 a global *** repeat cross-sectional study examined changes in 24-h movement behaviours 12 months after the WHO *** Time 2 survey repeated five months(1 March–15 May 2021)after Time 1 survey(1 October–11 November 2020).The survey was distributed to parents of children aged 6–12 years across Saudi Arabia via an online *** were classified as meeting 24-h movement guidelines if they reported uninterrupted sleep for 9–11 h per night,2 h of recreational sedentary screen time(RST)per day and-60 min of moderate-to vigorous-intensity physical activity(MVPA)per day.A total of 1045 parents from all regions of Saudi Arabia responded(42.4%).Only 1.8%of children met all components of the guidelines,compared to 3.4%in Time *** the present study,girls spent more days per week in MVPA-60 min duration than boys(3.0 vs 2.6;p=0.025),while boys had spent more days per week engaged in activities that strengthened muscle and bone than girls(3.0 vs 2.8;p=0.019).Healthy levels of physical activity(PA),sedentary behaviour(SB)and sleep further declined in Saudi children five months after the Time 1 *** challenges require urgent intervention to ensure children's movement behaviours improve as Saudi Arabia moves out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background:As the effectiveness of breast cancer treatment has improved,a growing number of long-term breast cancer survivors are seeking help for unique health *** patients may be at increased risk of cardiovascular disease due to the side effects of *** positive impact of most types of exercise has been repeatedly reported in people with cancer,but the most effective exercise approaches for maximum beneficial adaptations remain ***,this study aimed to compare the effects of high-intensity interval training(HIIT)and moderate-intensity continuous training(MICT) on inflammatory indices,adipokines,metabolic markers,body composition,cardiorespiratory fitness,and quality of life in breast cancer patients during adjuvant endocrine ***:Thirty non-metastatic breast cancer patients during adjuvant endocrine therapy who had been treated with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy were recruited from Iran and randomized to HIIT,MICT,or control groups for a supervised exercise intervention that took place 3 times a week for 12 *** training intensity was determed based on the peak oxygen uptake(VO2peak),and the volume of training was matched in HIIT and MICT based on the *** composition,functional capacity,cardiorespiratory fitness,metabolic indices,sex hormones,adipokines,and inflammatory markers were assessed before and after the ***:The VO2peakincreased by 16.8% in the HIIT group in comparison to baseline values(mean difference=3.61 mL/kg/min).HIIT significantly improved the VO2peakcompared to control(mean difference=3.609 mL/kg/min) and MICT(mean differences=2.974 mL/kg/min)*** HIIT(mean difference=9.172 mg/dL) and MICT(mean difference=7.879 mg/dL) interventions significantly increased highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol levels compared to the control *** analysis of covariance showed that physical well-being significantly improved in MICT compared to control group(mean difference=3.268)
