Sex-specific facilitation and reproduction of the gynodioecious cushion plant Arenaria polytrichoides on the Himalaya-Hengduan mountains,SW China

When benefiting other beneficiaries,cushion plants may reciprocally receive feedback *** feedback effects on different sex morphs,however,remains *** this study,taking the gynodioecious Arenaria polytrichiodes as a model species,we aimed to assess the sex-specific facilitation intensity of cushion plant by measuring the beneficiary cover ratio,and to assess the potential costs in cushion reproductive functions by measuring the flower and fruit cover *** total beneficiary cover ratio was similar between females and *** produced much less flowers but more fruits than *** results suggested that females and hermaphrodites possess similar facilitation intensity,and female cushion *** may allocate more resources saved from pollen production to seed production,while hermaphrodites possibly allocate more resources to pollen production hence reducing seed *** surface areas covered by beneficiaries produced less flowers and fruits than areas without *** addition,strong negative correlations between beneficiary cover and flower cover were detected for both females and hermaphrodites,but the correlation strength were similar for these two sex ***,the correlation between beneficiary cover and fruit cover was only significantly negative for females,suggesting that beneficiary plants negatively affect fruit reproduction of females while have neutral effects on *** the results suggest that to facilitate other beneficiaries can induce reproductive costs on cushion ***,with females possibly suffering greater cost than *** differentiation in reproductive costs between sex morphs,in long-term perspective,may imply sex imbalance in population dynamics.

BACKgRoUND Radicular cyst is a lesion of odontogenic origin that arises from epithelial remains due to periapical periodontitis caused by inflammatory reactions generated at the apex of affected teeth with infected or necrotic *** therapeutic mana gement of radicular cysts is *** is only one case report of enucleation of a radicular cyst managed with microsurgery and apicoectomy,but without the use of the guided tissue regeneration(gTR)technique in the same surgical *** present clinical case describes the management of a radicular cyst with microsurgical approach,performance of an apicoectomy of the tooth associated with the entity,application of gTR technique,use of a resorbable membrane of type I bovine collagen,and bovine *** SUMMARY A 68-year-old patient presented with a radicular cyst from an upper lateral *** microsurgical management used was aimed at enucleating the chemical membrane,performing apicoectomy of the tooth along with careful and precise retrograde filling,and implementing gTR technique using a resorbable collagen membrane and bovine *** diagnosis of radicular cyst was confirmed using histopathological *** patient underwent follow-up evaluations at 10 and 30 d *** 4 months postoperative evaluation,she remained asymptomatic,and radiographs showed significant periapical healing with adequate bone *** These results suggest that microsurgical management using the gTR technique with collagen membrane and xenograft,contributes to bone regeneration.

An isotope dilution ultra-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry method was developed to simultaneously detect two typical kinds ofα,β-unsaturated aldehydes,namely 4-hydroxy-2-hexenal(4-HHE)and 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal(4-HNE),in *** proposed method exhibited a linear range of 10-1000 ng/mL with a limit of detection of 0.1-2.0 ng/g and a limit of quantification of 0.3-5.0 ng/*** recovery rates of these typical toxic aldehydes(i.e.,4-HHE,4-HNE)and their d3-labeled analogues were 91.54%-105.12%with a low matrix ***,this proposed method was successfully applied to a real frying system and a simulated digestion system,wherein the contents of 4-HHE and 4-HNE were determined for ***,the obtained results provide strong support for further research into the production of 4-HHE and 4-HNE resulting from foods during oil digestion and frying.

高活性MoF基催化剂的设计和合成为促进动力学不利的氧还原反应(oRR)过程开辟了新的途径.本研究通过在ZIF-8前驱体表面涂覆二茂铁甲酸,然后进行两步炭化工艺,设计和制备了一种具有新型结构的高效电催化剂,以提高oRR性能.两步炭化过程对于将热解Fe_(3)C纳米颗粒封装到碳纳米管(CNTs)中以及将Fe单原子隔离到N掺杂碳(NC)基体上至关重要.此外,Fe元素的相对含量对优化催化剂的oRR性能至关重要.所制得Fe_(3)C@CNTs/NC-M催化剂结构先进,在碱性溶液中表现出良好的长期稳定性和电催化oRR性能,其半波电位和极限电流分别达到0.941 V和6.31 mA cm^(-2).此外,该电催化剂在甲醇溶液中具有较强的耐受性和良好的稳定性.Fe_(3)C@CNTs/NC-M锌空气电池(ZAB)具有1.525 V的开路电位,420 mA cm^(-2)时的峰值功率密度为348 mW cm^(-2),10 mA cm^(-2)时的最大容量为843 mA h g_(Zn)^(-1).因此,这种合成策略为构建具有有效和稳定的oRR性能的MoF基电催化材料提供了一条有效途径.

The Prevalence of High grade Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN) in a Primary Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Cervical Screening Programme Population with HPV Positive and Cytology Negative Smear Results

High-risk HPV is found in 99.7% of cervical cancers. The causative role of HPV in cervical cancer has led to the inclusion of HPV testing as part of cervical screening. A pilot of HPV testing as primary screening was commenced in 2013 at six pilot sites in England. North Cumbria Integrated Care (NCIC) NHS Foundation Trust took part in the pilot, in which women with an HPV-positive/cytology-negative result were recalled at 12 months. Women with HPV type 16/18 found at initial screening and persisting at 12 months in spite of negative cytology were referred to Colposcopy services at 12 months. Women with smear positive for hrHPV other than 16/18 types were recalled twice at 12 and 24 months before referral to colposcopy. Persistent hrHPV positive/cytology negative smear at 12 and 24 months initiated a colposcopy referral. Objective: To assess the prevalence of high grade CIN and invasive cancer in patients referred to colposcopy services at NCIC NHS Foundation Trust with hrHPV positive/cytology negative smears. Method: The study was conducted at NCIC NHS Foundation Trust between January 2015 and December 2017. Data was collected retrospectively from the colposcopy data base (INFOFLEX). All patients with HPV positive/cytology negative smears seen in colposcopy clinic during the study period were included. Patients with high grade CIN, cervical glandular intraepithelial neoplasia (CGIN) or invasive cancer were recorded. Results: 763 women were included in the study. A total of 50 (6.6%) women had high grade CIN, CGIN or invasive cancer. 40 of these 50 women (80%) were treated by large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ). <

obesity: Impact and outcome on Infertility—A Literature Review

Background: The health risks of obesity are a forever growing concern for societies worldwide. With the advent of Assisted reproductive technology more couples can achieve fertility which includes overweight and obese men and women. The review intends to explore the impact of overweight and obesity on human reproductive potential and explores ways of optimising outcome and minimising risk through development of sound recommendations. Aim: To determine the impact of obesity on infertility in men and women and recommendations to optimise reproductive outcome. Method: Relevant published reviews on the subject were searched on the PubMed, google scholar, Medline, and Cochrane library within the past 10 years, from 2011 to 2021. Results: Thirty-six articles met the criteria. Twenty-six of these were qualitative studies and ten were quantitative. The main themes were increasing prevalence and burden of disease, impact on male and female obesity and assisted reproductive outcomes. Conclusion: overall, it is evident that overweight and obesity negatively effects reproductive health of both men and women. It has numerous sequalae in men and women of reproductive age group with lasting impact on following progeny. These risks are minimised both in short and long term by weight loss strategies and there is need for more literature on the subject.

orofacial clefts (oFCs) are the most common congenital craniofacial disorders, of which the etiology is closely related to rare coding variants. Filamin B (FLNB) is an actin-binding protein implicated in bone formation. FLNB mutations have been identified in several types of syndromic oFCs and previous studies suggest a role of FLNB in the onset of non-syndromic oFCs (NSoFCs). Here, we report two rare heterozygous variants (p.P441T and p.g565R) in FLNB in two unrelated hereditary families with NSoFCs. Bioinformatics analysis suggests that both variants may disrupt the function of FLNB. In mammalian cells, p.P441T and p.g565R variants are less potent to induce cell stretches than wild type FLNB, suggesting that they are loss-of-function mutations. Immunohistochemistry analysis demonstrates that FLNB is abundantly expressed during palatal development. Importantly, Flnb^(−/−) embryos display cleft palates and previously defined skeletal defects. Taken together, our findings reveal that FLNB is required for development of palates in mice and FLNB is a bona fide causal gene for NSoFCs in humans.

one-step synthesis of cyclic polypyrazole and the self-assembly vesicles driven by hydrogen bond

The synthesis of cyclic polymer is an important topic in polymer chemistry. Herein, we report a one-step method to prepare cyclic polypyrazoles. Monomers with two functional groups, diazo and alkyne, were synthesized and polymerized via 1,3-diploar cycloaddition in bulk under heating without any *** with molecular weights in the range of 3800-4400 g/mol and yields in the range of 78.8-98.7% were successfully synthesized. No chain end group was detected by LC-QToF-MS and FTIR, which proves the cyclic structure of polypyrazoles. What is noteworthy is that the cyclic polypyrazoles can selfassemble into vesicles during the reprecipitation process, which was proved by the results of SEM and TEM. The reason for that is the formation of intermolecular hydrogen bond between NH and ester groups.
