Background:Cupping therapy is one of integrative medicine modalities which is used by several *** mechanism of action is not well known but there are several theories explained how it can play a rule in the treatment of *** recent years,huge advances have taken place in understanding of inner ear pathophysiology causing sensorineural hearing loss,tinnitus,and *** articles providing evidence of acupuncture treating dizziness and vertigo but no studies of cupping *** aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of integrating wet cupping therapy in the management of tinnitus and dizziness associated with ear ***:This is a prospective interventional pilot study in which pre and post intervention outcomes(tinnitus handicap inventory and dizziness handicap inventory)were assessed and compared.27 patients diagnosed with Ménière's disease and idiopathic tinnitus or tinnitus secondary to inner ear pathology were included in this study and received usual medical treatment and wet cupping ***:There was a significant improvement after 6 sessions of cupping in tinnitus handicap inventory and dizziness handicap inventory but not in patient’s *** adverse events were reported in this ***:Wet cupping therapy demonstrates a promising effectiveness in reducing discomforts of both dizziness and tinnitus.A large scale randomized controlled trial is recommended.

Hair cell regeneration is the fundamental method of correcting hearing loss and balance disorders caused by hair cell damage or loss. How to promote hair cell regeneration is a hot focus in current research. In mammals, cochlear hair cells cannot be regenerated and few vestibular hair cells can be renewed through spontaneous regeneration. However, Math1 gene transfer allows a few inner ear cells to be transformed into hair cells in vitro or in vivo. Hair cells can be renewed through two possible means in birds： supporting cell differentiation and transdifferentiation with or without cell division. Hair cell regeneration is strongly associated with cell proliferation. Therefore, this study explored the relationship between Math1-induced vestibular hair cell regeneration and cell division in mammals. The mouse vestibule was isolated to harvest vestibular epithelial cells. Ad-Math1-enhanced green fluorescent protein （EGFP） was used to track cell division during hair cell transformation.5-Bromo-2′-deoxyuridine （BrdU） was added to track cell proliferation at various time points. Immunocytochemistry was utilized to determine cell differentiation and proliferation. Results demonstrated that when epithelial cells were in a higher proliferative stage, more of these cells differentiated into hair cells by Math1 gene transfer. However, in the low proliferation stage, no BrdU-positive cells were seen after Math1 gene transfer. Cell division always occurred before Math1 transfection but not during or after Math1 transfection, when cells were labeled with BrdU before and after Ad-Math1-EGFP transfection. These results confirm that vestibular epithelial cells with high proliferative potential can differentiate into new hair cells by Math1 gene transfer, but this process is independent of cell proliferation.

Systematic Reviews In the 21st century, with increasing public accountability and pressure on health care resources worldwide, health care professionals and decision-makers need to be able to produce and describe the evidence on which their decisions are based. This evidencebased decision making requires a systematic appraisal of the best evidence available. However, each year vast quantities of research on the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of health disorders are published all over the world. It is therefore impossible for an individual to keep abreast of all the primary publications in his or her own field (for example,there is an estimated 431 919 articles on otolaryngological diseases entered on MEDLINE alone[1] ), and these constitute only a fraction of the two million articles published in the biomedical literature each year.

Background:Many disease-specific factors such as muscular weakness,increased muscle stiffness,varying postural strategies,and changes in postural reflexes have been shown to lead to postural instability and fall risk in people with Parkinson's disease(PD).Recently,analytical techniques,inspired by the dynamical systems perspective on movement control and coordination,have been used to examine the mechanisms underlying the dynamics of postural declines and the emergence of postural instabilities in people with ***:A wavelet-based technique was used to identify limit cycle oscillations(LCOs) in the anterior–posterior(AP) postural sway of people with mild PD(n = 10) compared to age-matched controls(n = 10).Participants stood on a foam and on a rigid surface while completing a dual task(speaking).Results:There was no significant difference in the root mean square of center of pressure between *** out of 10 participants with PD demonstrated LCOs on the foam surface,while none in the control group demonstrated *** inverted pendulum model of bipedal stance was used to demonstrate that LCOs occur due to disease-specific changes associated with PD:time-delay and neuromuscular feedback ***:Overall,the LCO analysis and mathematical model appear to capture the subtle postural instabilities associated with mild *** addition,these findings provide insights into the mechanisms that lead to the emergence of unstable posture in patients with PD.

Introduction:Osteoporosis and osteopenia are progressive disorders characterized by decreased bone mass,especially in postmenopausal *** can be associated with body pain,fractures,hearing loss and balance *** present study aims to evaluate audio-vestibular function in postmenopausal patients with osteopenia or ***:The study included 48 postmenopausal women(new subjects)diagnosed with osteoporosis(n=23)or osteopenia(n=25)in the age range of 50e66 years,as well as 28 normal women as *** testing included pure tone audiometry(conventional and extended high-frequency audiometry),speech audiometry,impedance audiometry and otoacoustic emissions,including both transient evoked otoacoustic emissions(TEOAEs)and distortion product otoacoustic emissions(DPOAEs).All subjects also underwent vestibular evoked myogenic potentials testing(both ocular and cervical VEMPs).Results:In the present study,hearing was worse at all frequencies in the osteoporosis group in comparison with the osteopenia and control groups,with worse speech recognition and discrimination scores and *** function was affected in 95.65%of women with osteoporosis and 76%of those with ***:Osteoporosis and osteopenia are risk factors for vestibular dysfunction and hearing deficits in postmenopausal ***,hearing and vestibular function should be monitored by audiological and vestibular testing periodically in these individuals.

许多重金属都是机体所需的重要微量元素,但是过量摄取重金属及其化合物则可造成机体多种器官的严重损害。重金属及其化合物可通过各种途径进入机体并在体内积累致病,但不同种类的重金属损害机体组织的主要靶器官却并不完全相同,所以不同的重金属中毒往往产生各种不同的临床症状。重金属及其化合物可通过血液循环或脑脊液或圆窗膜等不同途径进入内耳,在内耳积累的各种重金属都可损害内耳感觉器官,这些遭到重金属破坏的内耳器官包括耳蜗和前庭的感觉上皮和与之相联系的耳蜗和前庭的神经节及神经纤维,从而造成听觉障碍和平衡障碍。本文综述了铅、汞、镉、砷、锰、钴、锡、铂等重金属对内耳的毒性作用及相关毒性机制,以期提高人们对重金属耳毒性的警觉和认识。
