Photosynthetic co-culture system of algae and human umbilical vein endothelial cells:The effect on alleviating hypoxia and hypoxia/reoxygenation injury

It is a developed photosynthetic co-culture system to alleviate the hypoxia and hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R)-injured human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs).The algae,Chlorella vulgaris,were encapsulated to slow their growth while not affecting the photosynthetic oxygen-producing capacity by Layer-by-layer(LbL)using gelatin and sodium alginate as the positive and negative charges materials,***,the photosynthetic co-culture system of HUVECs and self-oxygenating alginate hydrogel(Algae-gel)was constructed in which the optimal ratios between algae and HUVECs were 5:1 and 20:1 for a 2D or 3D co-cultured manner,*** indicated that the 3D cocultured manner of HUVECs needed more O_(2) by the production of algae than it did in a 2D co-cultured *** co-cultured Algae-gel could alleviate hypoxia and the oxidative stress injury of hypoxia and hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R)-treated HUVECs in the proliferation,intracellular ROS and cellular migratory *** addition,the Algaegel could downregulate the expression of hypoxia-inducible factors 1α(HIF-1α)and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)of hypoxia and H/R-injured HUVECs due to the improvement of hypoxia and H/R *** photosynthetic co-culture system could offer a promising approach for repairing hypoxia and H/R-injured cells or tissue by providing safe and stable O_(2).

The intelligent detection technology driven by X-ray images and deep learning represents the forefront of advanced techniques and development trends in flaw detection and automated evaluation of light alloy ***,the efficacy of deep learning models hinges upon a substantial abundance of flaw *** existing research on X-ray image augmentation for flaw detection suffers from shortcomings such as poor diversity of flaw samples and low reliability of quality *** this end,a novel approach was put forward,which involves the creation of the Interpolation-Deep Convolutional Generative Adversarial Network(I-DCGAN)for flaw detection image generation and a comprehensive evaluation algorithm named TOPSIS-IFP.I-DCGAN enables the generation of high-resolution,diverse simulated images with multiple appearances,achieving an improvement in sample diversity and quality while maintaining a relatively lower computational ***-IFP facilitates multi-dimensional quality evaluation,including aspects such as diversity,authenticity,image distribution difference,and image distortion *** results indicate that the X-ray radiographic images of magnesium and aluminum alloy castings achieve optimal performance when trained up to the 800th and 600th epochs,*** TOPSIS-IFP value reaches 78.7%and 73.8%similarity to the ideal solution,*** to single index evaluation,the TOPSIS-IFP algorithm achieves higher-quality simulated images at the optimal training *** approach successfully mitigates the issue of unreliable quality associated with single index *** image generation and comprehensive quality evaluation method developed in this paper provides a novel approach for image augmentation in flaw recognition,holding significant importance for enhancing the robustness of subsequent flaw recognition networks.

Assessment of coastal and mangrove vulnerability in the Andaman Island,Indian Ocean

Coastal regions are highly susceptible to the effects of global warming,including rising atmospheric and sea surface temperatures,increased cyclone frequency,and sea level ***,it is imperative to examine coastal vulnerability to minimize the impact of multiple hazards and protect coastal resources,such as *** in India studying the vulnerability of coastal zones of Andaman and Nicobar Islands which fall in seismic zone V is critical for conservation *** conducted a vulnerability analysis of coastal zones impacted by the 2004 earthquake,causing varying degrees of ground upliftment and *** compared coastal vulnerability among sites that experienced uplift,no change,and subsidence(the southern portion).Our analysis utilized the Coastal and Mangrove Vulnerability Index(CVI and MVI)to measure and compare vulnerability in six zones distributed along uplift and subsidence ***-resolution satellite imagery including WorldView-2,3,and GeoEye-1 from year 2022 are utilized on this *** CVI and MVI offers a good way to measure and compare vulnerabilities across sites and offer insights for better *** CVI and MVI results indicate that approximately 34%of coastal grids and over 23%of mangrove grids across all zones are highly to extremely highly *** zones were found to be more vulnerable than uplifted *** findings suggest that large-scale natural disturbances such as tectonic displacement have the potential to impact coastal vegetation and mangrove cover can become even more *** conclusion,our study emphasizes the importance of vulnerability analyses in coastal regions,especially in areas prone to seismic *** findings have direct implications for conservation and restoration efforts and underscore the need for continued monitoring and mitigation efforts to safeguard coastal resources for long-term sustainability.

The ovary generally undergoes tissue remodeling during larval to pupal transition,which includes membrane degeneration and ovariole *** the same time,the hormones produced by insects significantly change during ***,the regulatory mechanism for ovarian development and hormones is not fully understood in ***,we found that matrix metalloproteinase 2(MMP2)was highly expressed in the ovarian capsules and ovarioles,and the development was abnormal after knocking out MMP2 in Bombyx *** process of abnormal degradation of collagen I due to MMP2 deletion,which resulted in abnormal development of ovarioles and eggs,was analyzed in *** proteomics of ovaries in the MMP2-knock out and wild type strains showed a critically significant difference in the expression of a protein,insulin-like peptide(ILP).Additional analysis revealed significant alteration of ILP during ovarian development,and abnormal expression of ILP significantly affected ovarian development in vivo and MMP2 expression in vitro and in *** results showed that MMP2 regulation of ovarian tissue remodeling is closely related to ILP *** study provides new insights into the regulatory mechanism of MMP2 and ovarian development in ***.

A pantograph serves as a vital device for the collection of electricity in ***,its aerodynamic resistance can limit the train’s running *** installing fairings around the pantograph is known to effectively reduce the resistance,in this study,different fairing lengths are considered and the related aerodynamic performances of pantograph are *** particular,this is accomplished through numerical simulations based on the k-ωShear Stress Transport(SST)two-equation turbulence *** results indicate that the fairing diminishes the direct impact of high-speed airflow on the pantograph,thereby reducing its aerodynamic ***,it also induces interferences in the flow field around the train,leading to variations in the aerodynamic resistance and lift of train *** is shown that a maximum reduction of 56.52%in pantograph aerodynamic resistance and a peak decrease of 3.38%in total train aerodynamic resistance can be achieved.

Inter-layer interference for multi-layered tight gas reservoir in the absence and presence of movable water

Due to the dissimilarity among different producing layers,the influences of inter-layer interference on the production performance of a multi-layer gas reservoir are ***,systematic studies of inter-layer interference for tight gas reservoirs are really limited,especially for those reservoirs in the presence of *** this work,five types of possible inter-layer interferences,including both absence and presence of water,are identified for commingled production of tight gas ***,a series of reservoir-scale and pore-scale numerical simulations are conducted to quantify the degree of influence of each type of *** field evidence from the Yan'an tight gas reservoir(Ordos Basin,China)is found to support the simulation ***,suggestions are proposed to mitigate the potential inter-layer *** results indicate that,in the absence of water,commingled production is favorable in two situations:when there is a difference in physical properties and when there is a difference in the pressure system of each *** reservoirs with a multi-pressure system,the backflow phenomenon,which significantly influences the production performance,only occurs under extreme conditions(such as very low production rates or well shut-in periods).When water is introduced into the multi-layer system,inter-layer interference becomes nearly *** both the gas-rich layer and water-rich layer for commingled production is not desirable,as it can trigger water invasion from the water-rich layer into the gas-rich *** gas-rich layer might also be interfered with by water from the neighboring unperforated water-rich layer,where the water might break the barrier(eg weak joint surface,cement in fractures)between the two layers and migrate into the gas-rich ***,the gas-rich layer could possibly be interfered with by water that accumulates at the bottom of the wellbore due to gravitational diff

Assessment of tree-ring mercury radial translocation and age effect in Masson pine:Implications for historical atmospheric mercury reconstruction

The tree ring has been regarded as an emerging archive to reconstruct historical atmospheric mercury(Hg)trends,but with the large knowledge gaps in the *** this study,we comprehensively evaluated the Hg source,radial translocation and age effect of Masson pine(Pinus massoniana)tree ring at *** in Chongqing,to assess the suitability of such tree ring as the archive of atmospheric *** showed that distinct variabilities among Masson pine tree-ring Hg concentration *** Hg concentration significantly increased along with stem height(P<0.05),indicating the Hg in tree rings mainly derived from foliage uptake atmospheric *** found a distinct age effect that the tree ring of young trees had the higher Hg ***,we used the advection-diffusion model to demonstrate how Hg concentration shifted by the advection or/and diffusion in tree *** modeling results showed that the advection induced radial translocation during the young growth period of tree was a plausible mechanism to result in the tree-ring Hg record largely different from the trend of anthropogenic Hg emissions in *** finally suggest that in further Hg dendrochemistry,better discarding the tree-ring Hg profile of the young growth period to reduce impacts of the radial translocation and age effect.

Quantitative evaluation of adsorbed and free water in deep shales:a case study on the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formations from the Luzhou area,southern Sichuan Basin,China

Deep shale gas reservoirs commonly contain connate water, which affects the enrichment and migration of shale gas and has attracted the attention of many scholars. It is significant to quantitatively estimate the amounts of adsorbed and free water in shale matrix pores, considering the different impacts of pore water (adsorbed water and free water) on shale gas. In this paper, pore water in six deep shale samples from the Wufeng-Longmaxi Formations in the Luzhou area, southern Sichuan Basin, China, was quantitatively evaluated by saturation-centrifugation experiments. Further, the impact of shale material composition and microstructure on the pore water occurrence was analyzed. The results show that amounts of adsorbed and free water are respectively 1.7967–9.8218 mg/g (mean 6.4501 mg/g) and 9.5511–19.802 mg/g (mean 13.9541 mg/g) under the experimental conditions (30℃, distilled water). The ratio of adsorbed water to total water is 15.83%–42.61% (mean 30.45%). The amounts of adsorbed and free water are related to the pore microstructure and material compositions of shale. The specific surface area of shale controls the amount of adsorbed water, and the pore volume controls the amount of free water;organic pores developed in shale solid asphalt contribute specific surface area and pore volume, and inorganic pores developed in clay mineral contribute pore volume. Therefore, the pores of shale solid asphalt accumulate the adsorbed water and free water, and the pores of clay minerals mainly accumulate the free water.

Precipitation and anthropogenic activities regulate the changes of NDVI in Zhegucuo Valley on the southern Tibetan Plateau

Whether climate change or anthropogenic activities play a more pivotal role in regulating vegetation growth on the Tibetan Plateau is still controversial.A better understanding on grassland changes at a fine scale may provide important guidance for local government policy and grassland *** two of the most reliable satellite NDVI products(MODIS NDVI and SPOT NDVI),we evaluated the dynamic of grasslands in the Zhegucuo valley on the southern Tibetan Plateau from 2000 to 2020,and analyzed its driving factors and relative influences of climate change and anthropogenic ***,the key indicators of climate change were assumed to be precipitation and *** main results were:(1)the grassland NDVI in Zhegucuo valley did not reflect a significant temporal change during the last 21 *** variation of precipitation during the early growing season(GSP)resembled that of NDVI,and the GSP was positively correlated with *** the pixel level,the partial correlation analysis showed that 37.79%of the pixels depicted a positive relationship between GSP and NDVI,while 11.32%of the pixels showed a negative relationship between temperature during the early growing season(GST)and NDVI.(2)In view of the spatial distribution,the areas mainly controlled by GSP were generally distributed in the southern part,while those affected by GST stood in the eastern part,mainly around the Zhegucuo lake where most population in Cuomei County settled down.(3)Decreasing NDVI trends were mainly occurred in alpine steppe at lower elevations rather than alpine meadow at higher elevations.(4)The residual trend(RESTREND)analysis further indicated that the anthropogenic activities played a more pivotal role in regulating the annual changes of NDVI rather than climate factors in this *** studies should pay more attention on climate extremes rather than the simple temporal ***,the influence of human activities on alpine grassland needs to be accessed and fully
