In the last 60 years, great progress has been made in controlling and preventing tuber- culosis in China. However, the number of tuberculosis cases has increased dramatically in the last 25 years, mainly due to the lack of effective control measures of immigrating populations with tuberculosis. In order to explore the effective control and prevention measures we propose a deterministic model to study the transmission dynamics of tuber- culosis in Guangdong province of China in this paper. The model consists of susceptible, exposed and infectious recovered subpopulations of immigrating populations from other provinces and the local population of Guangdong. We obtain the effective reproduc- tion number. Based on the analysis, we also establish an optimal immune programming model, and get the optimal proportion of vaccine coverage with control of the effective reproduction number. Simulation is used to determine the validation and reliability. Our study demonstrates that the immigrating population from different provinces needs to be vaccinated according to the incidence rate of TB in their original provinces, and it is an effective way to prevent the outbreak of tuberculosis in Ouangdong.

This is a comparative study of cache energy dissipations in Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) and the classical superscalar microprocessors. While architecturally different, the two types are analyzed in this work under the assumption of having similar underlying silicon fabrication platforms. The outcomes of the study reveal how energy is exploited in the cache system of the former which makes it more appealing to low-power applications compared to the latter.

The installation of a back-wall guard-board is the key to successfully supporting underground retreating roadways in coal mines. Based on the coordinate support principle, and using an I-shaped steel support for the surrounding rock, a mechanical model was developed for the stability of the roadway support and surrounding rock. Analysis of the bearing capacity of the roof back-wall guard-board and modelling of the equations for the maximum deflection and the maximum compressive stress of the top and side beams of the I-shaped steel support were undertaken. Simultaneously, the model was used to calculate and analyse the stability of the top and side beams of the I-shaped steel support structure and analyse the criteria for their stability. The results provide a reliable theoretical basis for the judgment of the stability of the surrounding rock and support structure. The theoretical evaluation results are consistent with field data. Finally, the key support parameters of the top and side beams of the I-shaped steel support structure and the variation of the maximum deflection and the maximum compressive stress as affected by the influence of the guard-board length were investigated. It is concluded that, as the back-board length increases, the maximum compressive stress in the top beam of the I-shaped steel support increases while the compressive stress in the side beam decreases. The results show that the accuracy of judgment of the stability of a supported retreating roadway is improved, providing guidance for the design of such typical I-shaped steel support and back-board structures.

This study endeavors to look at the overall level of understanding of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) among college-age students and whether or not they can deduct what types of cancer are directly correlated with the infection. The research will present the disparity in knowledge among the surveyed college students and how the majority of this age group knows very little about HPV’s carcinogenic effects and how it could affect them later in life.

Extraction of a protective coal seam (PVCS)-below or above a coal seam to be mined with the potential of coal andgas outburst risk-plays an important role not only in decreasing the stress field in the surrounding rock mass but alsoin increasing the gas desorption capacity and gas flow permeability in the protected coal seam (PTCS). The PVCSis mined to guarantee the safe mining of the PTCS. This study has numerically evaluated the stress redistributioneffects using FLAC3D model for a longwall face in Shanxi Province. The effects of mining depth, mining height andinter-burden rock mass properties were evaluated using the stress relief angle and stress relief coefficient. Verticalstress distribution, stress relief angle and stress relief coefficient in the PTCS were analyzed as the face advancedin the PVCS. The results showed that the stress relief achieved in different locations of the PTCS varied as the faceadvanced. Sensitivity analyses on the pertinent variables indicate that the stress relief in the PTCS is affected mostby the mining depth followed by the inter-burden lithology and the mining height. Furthermore, the elastic moduliof different layers within the inter-burden rock mass are more important than their uniaxial compressive strength(UCS) and Poisson’s ratio. These observations can guide gas drainage borehole design to minimize the accidentsof coal and gas outbursts.

The catalytic conversion of CO2 to CO via a reverse water gas shift(RWGS)reaction followed by well-established synthesis gas conversion technologies may provide a potential approach to convert CO2 to valuable chemicals and ***,this reaction is mildly endothermic and competed by a strongly exothermic CO2 methanation reaction at low ***,the improvement in the low-temperature activities and selectivity of the RWGS reaction is a key challenge for catalyst *** reviewed recent advances in the design strategies of supported metal catalysts for enhancing the activity of CO2 conversion and its selectivity to *** strategies include varying support,tuning metal–support interactions,adding reducible transition metal oxide promoters,forming bimetallic alloys,adding alkali metals,and enveloping metal *** advances suggest that enhancing CO2 adsorption and facilitating CO desorption are key factors to enhance CO2 conversion and CO *** short review may provide insights into future RWGS catalyst designs and optimization.

Contactless monitoring with photoelectron microspectroscopy of the surface potential along individual nano-structures,created by the X-ray nanoprobe,opens exciting possibilities to examine quantitatively size-and surface-chemistry-effects on the electrical transport of semiconductor nanowires(NWs).Implementing this novel approach-which combines surface chemical microanalysis with conductivity measurements-we explored the dependence of the electrical properties of undoped GaAs NWs on the NW width,temperature and surface *** following the evolution of the Ga 3d and As 3d core level spectra,we measured the position-dependent surface potential along the GaAs NWs as a function of NW diameter,decreasing from 120 to~20 nm,and correlated the observed decrease of the conductivity with the monotonic reduction in the NW diameter from 120 to~20 *** of the GaAs NWs to oxygen ambient leads to a decrease in their conductivity by up to a factor of 10,attributed to the significant decrease in the carrier density associated with the formation of an oxide shell.

The discovery of oil in the Gulf countries brought strong economic growth and an influx of foreign workers for privately held *** countries have since maintained their growth by relying on expatriates from all over the world,particularly from South Asian *** contrast,locals were recruited for most of the public sector *** response to significant population growth and high unemployment rates,these countries took on some initiatives,including the localisation of the *** paper analyzes the current localisation effort,which is a process of replacing expatriates with local workers in six Gulf countries.A content analysis of literature is used to understand the challenges related to required skills,work hours,salary,language,and *** indicate that these challenges have impeded localisation efforts in the private *** study has significant implications for global organisations and human resource development professionals seeking to localise a proportion of their workforce as a workforce management strategy.

Electrochemical reduction of CO2 has the benefit of turning greenhouse gas emissions into useful resources. We performed a comparative study of the electrochemical reduction of CO2 on stepped Pb(211) and Sn(112) surfaces based on the results of density functional theory slab calculations. We mapped out the potential energy profiles for electrochemical reduction of CO2 to formate and other possible products on both surfaces. Our results show that the first step is the formation of the adsorbed formate(HCOO*) species through an Eley-Rideal mechanism. The formate species can be reduced to HCOO- through a oneelectron reduction in basic solution, which produces formic acid as the predominant product. The respective potentials of forming HCOO* are predicted to be -0.72 and -0.58 V on Pb and Sn. Higher overpotentials make other reaction pathways accessible, leading to different products. On Sn(112), CO and CH4 can be generated at -0.65 V following formate formation. In contrast, the limiting potential to access alternative reaction channels on Pb(211) is -1.33 V, significantly higher than that of Sn.
