Analysis and optimization of performance parameters of the 220Rn chamber in flow-field mode using computational fluid dynamics method

The impact of the radiation dose produced by222Rn/220Rn and its progeny on human health has garnered increasing interest in the nuclear research field. The establishment of robust, regulatory, and competent220Rn chambers is crucial for accurately measuring radioactivity levels. However, studying the uniformity of the220Rn progeny through experimental methods is challenging, because measuring the concentration of220Rn and its progeny in multiple spatial locations simultaneously and in real time using experimental methods is difficult. Therefore, achieving precise control of the concentration of220Rn and its progeny as well as the reliable sampling of the progeny pose significant challenges. To solve this problem, this study uses computational fluid dynamics to obtain the flow-field data of the220Rn chamber under different wind speeds and progenyreplenishment rates. Qualitative analysis of the concentration distribution of the progeny and quantitative analysis of the progeny concentration and uniformity of the progeny concentration are conducted. The research findings indicated that the progeny concentration level is primarily influenced by wind speed and the progeny-complement rate. Wind speed also plays a crucial role in determining progeny concentration uniformity, whereas the progeny-complement rate has minimal impact on uniformity. To ensure the accuracy of220Rn progeny concentration sampling, we propose a methodology for selecting an appropriate sampling area based on varying progeny concentrations. This study holds immense importance for enhancing the regulation and measurement standards of220Rn and its progeny.

Configuring single-layer MXene nanosheet onto natural wood fiber via C-Ti-C covalent bonds for high-stability Li-S batteries

Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)are considered promising candidates for next-generation battery technologies owing to their outstanding theoretical energy density and ***,the low conductivity and polysulfide shuttling effect of S cathodes severely hamper the practical performance of ***,in situ-generated single layer MXene nanosheet/hierarchical porous carbonized wood fiber(MX/PCWF)composites are prepared via a nonhazardous eutectic activation strategy coupled with pyrolysis-induced gas *** unique architecture,wherein single layer MXene nanosheets are constructed on carbonized wood fiber walls,ensures rapid polysulfide conversion and continuous electron transfer for redox *** C-Ti-C bonds formed between MXene and PCWF can considerably expedite the conversion of polysulfides,effectively suppressing the shuttle *** impressive capacity of 1301.1 m A h g^(-1)at 0.5 C accompanied by remarkable stability is attained with the MX/PCWF host,as evidenced by the capacity maintenance of 722.6 m A h g^(-1)after 500 ***,the MX/PCWF/S cathode can still deliver a high capacity of 886.8 m A h g^(-1)at a high S loading of 5.6 mg cm^(-2).The construction of two-dimensional MXenes on natural wood fiber walls offers a competitive edge over S-based cathode materials and demonstrates a novel strategy for developing high-performance batteries.

Atomic-level insights into the initial oxidation mechanism of high-entropy diborides by first-principles calculations

Understanding the initial oxidation mechanism is critical for studying the oxidation resistance of high-entropy ***,related studies are ***,the initial oxidation mechanism of(Zr_(0.25)Ti_(0.25)Nb_(0.25)Ta_(0.25))B_(2)high-entropy diborides(HEB_(2)-1)is investigated by first-principles calculations at the atomic *** employing the two-region model method,the most stable surface of HEB_(2)-1 is determined to be(1120)*** dissociative adsorption process of the oxygen molecule on the HEB_(2)-1-(1120)surface is predicted to proceed spontaneously,where OeO bond breaks and each oxygen atom is chemisorbed on the most preferable hollow *** adsorption energy and the diffusion barrier of the oxygen atom on the(1120)surface of HEB_(2)-1 are in the vicinity of the average level of the cor-responding four individual *** addition,ab initio molecular dynamics simulations indicate a high initial oxidation resistance of HEB_(2)-1 at 1000 *** results are beneficial to further designing the high-entropy diborides with excellent oxidation resistance.

Data-driven discovery of formation ability descriptors for high-entropy rare-earth monosilicates

Herein we establish formation ability descriptors of high-entropy rare-earth monosilicates(HEREMs)via the data-driven discovery based on the high-throughput solid-state reaction and machine learning(ML)***,adequate high-quality data are generated with 132 samples synthesized by the self-developed high-throughput solid-state reaction apparatuses,and 30 potential descriptors are considered in ML *** classifications are proposed to study the phase formation of HEREMs via the ML approach combined with the genetic algorithm:(Ⅰ)to distinguish pure HEREMs(X)from other phases and(Ⅱ)to categorize the detail phases of HEREMs(X2,X1,or X2+X1).Four formation ability descriptors(r_(Me),EF,d_(Eg),and d_(Z*))with a high validation accuracy(96.2%)are proposed as the optimal combination for Classification I,where a smaller r_(Me)is determined to have the most significant influence on the formation of *** ClassificationⅡ,a 100%validation accuracy is achieved by using only two formation ability descriptors(rion and d_(Z*)),where the rion is analyzed to be the dominant feature and a lower rion is beneficial to the formation of *** on our established formation ability descriptors,6,045 unreported multicomponent silicates are explored,and 3,478 new HEREMs with 2,700 X2-and 423 X1-HEREMs are predicted.

Urban Flood Mitigation Strategies with Coupled Gray–Green Measures: A Case Study in Guangzhou City, china

The integration of gray and green infrastructure has proven to be a feasible approach for managing stormwater in established urban areas. However, evaluating the specific contributions of such coupled strategies is challenging. This study introduced a novel integrated hydrological-hydrodynamic model that takes into account the layout of low-impact development(LID)facilities along with pipeline alignment and rehabilitation. Reliable results from modeling were used to assess the individual contribution of LID and improved drainage facilities to urban flooding mitigation. We selected a natural island in Guangzhou City, china, as the study site. The results indicate that combining three LID measures, namely green roofs, sunken green spaces, and permeable pavements, can reduce total runoff by 41.7% to 25.89% for rainfall recurrence periods ranging from 1year to 100 years, and decrease the volume of nodal overflow by nearly half during rainfall events of less than 10-year return period. By integrating LID measures with the upgraded gray infrastructure, the regional pipeline overloading condition is substantially alleviated, resulting in a significant improvement in pipeline system resilience. For urban flooding control, it is recommended to integrate sufficient green space and avoid pipe-laying structural issues during urban planning and construction. The findings may assist stakeholders in developing strategies to best utilize gray and green infrastructure in mitigating the negative eff ects of urban flooding.

Salt-doped block copolymers have widespread applications in batteries,fuel cells,semiconductors,and various industries,where their properties crucially depend on phase separation ***,investigations into salt-doped diblock copolymers have predominantly focused on microphase separation,overlooking the segregation between ionic and polymeric *** study employs weak segregation theory to explore the interplay between phase separation dominated by the polymer-modulated mode and the salt-out-modulated mode,corresponding to microscopic and macroscopic phase separations,*** comparing diblock copolymers doped with salts to those doped with neutral solvents,we elucidate the significant role of charged species in modulating phase *** phase separation mode exhibits a transition between the polymer-modulated and salt-out-modulated modes at different *** systems doped with neutral solvents,this transition is stepwise,while in salt-ion-doped systems,it is *** a sufficiently large Flory-Huggins parameter between ions and polymers,the salt-out-modulated mode becomes dominant,promoting macrophase *** to the solvation effect of salt ions,salt-doped systems are more inclined to undergo microphase ***,we explore factors influencing the critical wavenumber of phase separation,including doping level and the Flory-Huggins parameters between two blocks and between ions and polymeric *** findings reveal that in a neutral solvent environment,these factors alter only the boundary between micro-and macro-phase separations,leaving the critical wavenumber unchanged in microphase separation ***,in a salt-doped environment,the critical wavenumber of microphase separation varies with these *** provides valuable insights into the pivotal role of electrostatics in the phase separation of salt-doped block copolymers.

Precise separation and efficient recovery of Pd(Ⅱ) from high-level liquid waste by XAD-based adsorbents

Efficient separation of palladium (Pd（II）) from high-level liquid waste （HLLW） not only helps the safe disposal of nuclear waste,but also is a vital importan supplement to Pd（II） ***,16 kinds of nove Amberlite XAD resins-based adsorbents were prepared by vacuum impregnation method for the separation of Pd（II）from simulated HLLW,and the MMBT/XAD7HP prepared using 4-methyl-2-mercaptobenzothiazole （MMBT） as ligand and Amberlite XAD7HP resin （XAD7HP） as the carrier was selected as the optimal research *** analysis experiments proved the successful preparation of MMBT/XAD7HP,which exhibited ultrahigh adsorption selectivity for Pd（II）(distribution coefficient （Kd）≥12584.5 ml·g-1,separation factor (SFPd/M)≥2818.4) and superior adsorption capacity(Q≥130.1 mg·g-1).The adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherms for Pd（II） matched with pseudo-secondorder （PSO） kinetics model and Langmuir model,indicating that the adsorption mode for Pd（II） by MMBT/XAD7 HP was monolayer chemical *** dynamic column experiments showed that MMBT/XAD7 HP achieved efficiently separation of Pd（II） from simulated HLLW,and the recovery rate was nearly 100% The adsorption mechanism was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） and density functional theory（DFT）,and the ultrahigh selectivity of MMBT/XAD7 HP is attributed to the preferred affinity of the soft-N,S donor atoms in MMBT for Pd（II）.MMBT has the shortest frontline molecular orbital energy band gap （HOMO–LUMO） among the four ligands,which makes it easier to become an electron donor to attract Pd2+to participate in ***3-participates in the adsorption to keep charge *** summary,MMBT/XAD7 HP has broad application prospects for the treatment of Pd（II） in HLLW

Gauge/gravity duality is used to study the properties of the doubly heavy baryon(QQq)at finite rapidity and temperature in heavy-ion *** investigate the impact of rapidity on string breaking and screening of QQq and compare these effects with the results for QQ¯in *** reveal that the string-breaking distances of QQq and QQ¯are close in the confined state,and the effects of rapidity and temperature on the string breaking are not *** interesting result shows that QQq cannot be determined at sufficiently high temperatures and ***,QQ¯can exist under any conditions as long as the separation distance is sufficiently ***,the screening distances of QQq and QQ¯are compared at finite rapidity and *** on the above analysis,we infer that QQ¯is more stable than QQq at finite rapidity and temperature.

Weakly-supervised instance co-segmentation via tensor-based salient co-peak search

Instance co-segmentation aims to segment the co-occurrent instances among two *** task heavily relies on instance-related cues provided by co-peaks,which are generally estimated by exhaustively exploiting all paired candidates in point-to-point ***,such patterns could yield a high number of false-positive co-peaks,resulting in over-segmentation whenever there are mutual *** tackle with this issue,this paper proposes an instance co-segmentation method via tensor-based salient co-peak search(TSCPS-ICS).The proposed method explores high-order correlations via triple-to-triple matching among feature maps to find reliable co-peaks with the help of co-saliency *** proposed method is shown to capture more accurate intra-peaks and inter-peaks among feature maps,reducing the false-positive rate of co-peak *** having accurate co-peaks,one can efficiently infer responses of the targeted *** on four benchmark datasets validate the superior performance of the proposed method.
