The electrical and thermal characteristics of metal oxide varistor(MOV)are essential for the study of MOV performance and *** paper provides a modelling method of MOV to simulate its microstructure geometry with the Voronoi network and derive the electrical functions on the grain boundaries.A series of discrete data to describe the resistance-voltage(R-V)characteristics of MOV from experiments is applied to the pro-posed *** 8/20μs surge current experiments,the electrical co.ductivity of MOV is determined to achieve the simulation of the clamping *** this model,the current distribution and temperature distribution over a MOV sample are simulated and analysed by the finite element method(FEM).The simulation results show good agreement with the experimental measurement and inherent feature of MOV.

Existing solutions for axisymmetric active earth pressure are based on certain hypotheses of the circumferential stress, lacking of strict basis. This article presents a technique for deriving the actual circumferential stress acco.ding to the circumferential geometric co.dition, the Drucker-Prager criterion and incremental theory. Based on the actual circumferential stress, a new characteristics method for determining the axisymmetric active earth pressure in plastic flow is developed in this article. In this new method, the inclined angle of boundaries, interface friction of co.tact interface, dilatation effect and flow velocity of soil are co.sidered at the same time. The validity of the new method is co.firmed using several sets of experimental data from the literature. The pressure co.fficients are investigated individually in detail, and some different co.clusions are found. Finally, a practical formula for calculating axisymmetric active earth pressure is presented based on the linear superposition principle, and related tables of co.fficients are also provided for engineering application.

Carbon materials, including carbon fibers, graphite, diamond, carbon foams, carbon nanotubes, and graphene, are attractive reinforcements for aluminum matrix co.posites due to their excellent mechanical and/or physical properties as well as light weight. Carbon materials reinforced aluminum （C/Al） co.posites are promising materials in many areas such as aerospace, thermal management, and automobile. However, there are still some challenging problems that need to be resolved, such as interfacial reactions, low wettability, and anisotropic properties. These problems have limited the use of these co.posites. This review mainly focuses on the categories, fabrication processes, existing problems and solutions, co.tings and interfaces, challenges and opportunities of C/Al co.posites so as to provide a useful reference for future research.

The explosive increase of co.struction and demolition waste(CDW) caused the insufficient source separation and emergency disposal at domestic waste landfills in many developing co.ntries. Some organic fractions were introduced to the CDW landfill process and resulted in serious odor pollution. To co.prehensively explore the impacts of organic matters on odor emission patterns, five CDW landfills(OIL), with organic matters/inert CDW co.ponents(O/I) from 5% to 30%, and the co.trol group only with inert co.ponents(IL) or organics(OL) were simulated at the laboratory. The chemical and olfactive characters of odors were evaluated using the emission rate of 94 odorants co.tent(ER_(total)), theory odor co.centration(TOC_(total)), and e-nose co.centration(ER_(ENC)), and their co.relations with waste properties were also analyzed. It was found that the main co.tributors to ER_(total)(IL: 93.0% NH_(3);OIL: 41.6% sulfides, 31.0% NH_(3), 25.9% oxygenated co.pounds) and TOC_(total)(IL: 64.1% CH_3SH, 28.2% NH_(3);OIL: 71.7% CH_(3)SH, 24.8% H_(2)S) changed significantly. With the rise of O/I, ER_(total), TOC_(total), and ER_(ENC) increased by 10.9, 20.6, and 2.1 times, respectively. And the organics co.tent in CDW should be less than 10%(i.e., DOC co.relation analysis results( ER_(ENC) vs. TOC_(total,, r = 0.96, p co.tinuous monitoring tool for CDW landfills.

Although supramolecular chirality tuning is prosperous in systems with small molecular building blocks,these systems lack structural strength and have limited practical ***,polymer systems do not exhibit these drawbacks but suffer from topological chain entanglement,which often leads to large dynamic obstacles and therefore limits the tunability of supramolecular ***,we report that by manipulating stoichiometry and employing light to alter the H-bond crosslinking between a photoexcitation-induced aggregatable molecule and high molecular weight poly(L-lactic acids),supramolecular chirality tuning of the polymer gel systems can be achieved in different ways through a co.perative ***,the co.ton effects of the examined systems can be negatively tuned by varying their stoichiometry,while positive tuning can be realized by *** deexcitation,negative co.ton effect tuning occurs again spontaneously in some *** supramolecular chirality tuning is acco.panied by rheological property tuning,demonstrating that our strategy can overco.e polymer chain entanglement *** proposed strategy inspires further works on the precise co.trol of polymer chirality and,hence,development of asymmetric materials with changeable optical activity and modulus.

Gold nanoparticle arrays fabricated via layerby-layer technique were investigated using grazing-incidence small-angle X-ray scattering(GISAXS) *** co.taining two gold nanoparticle layers that were separated by 5,11,15 and 21 poly electrolyte(PE) interlayers were *** using different X-ray incident angles,co.relations of gold nanoparticles(GNPs) in the same layer and in two different layers were *** is found that both sideway co.relations between GNPs in the same layer and vertical co.relation between two gold nanoparticle layers depend on the thickness of PE *** to sideway co.relation,the size of GNPs is determined to be(13.0±0.5) nm in all of the four samples,which was also proved by scanning electron microsco.y(SEM) and theoretical calculation of form factor of spherical *** vertical co.relation,distance between two gold nanoparticle layers was determined for sample with 11,15 and 21 PE *** distances can be reasonably explained with the number of PE layers and the thickness of single PE *** results indicate that by repeated depositing of oppositely charged PE layers,a true three-dimensional(3 D) nanostructure can eventually be designed.

Forced aeration is one of the promising ways to accelerate landfill reclamation,and understanding the relation between aeration rates and waste properties is the prerequisite to implementing forced aeration under the target of energy saving and carbon *** this work,landfill reclamation processes with forced aeration were simulated using aged refuses(ARs)of 1,4,7,10,and 13 disposal years,and the potential of field application was also investigated based on a field project,to identify the degradation rate of organic co.ponents,the O_(2)co.sumption efficiency and their co.relations to *** was found that the removal rate of organic matter declined from 20.3%(AR_(1))to 12.6%(AR_(13)),and that biodegradable matter(BDM)decreased from 5.2%to 2.4%at the set aeration rate of 0.12 L O_(2)/kg waste(Dry Matter,DM)/day.A linear relationship between the degradation rate co.stant(K)of BDM and disposal age(x)was established:K=−0.0002193x+0.0091(R^(2)=0.854),suggesting that BDM might be a suitable indicator to reflect the stabilization of *** cellulose/lignin ratio decrease rate for AR1(18.3%)was much higher than that for AR13(3.1%),while the co.responding humic-acid/fulvic-acid ratio increased from 1.44 to *** dominant bacteria shifted from co.ynebacterium(9.2%),Acinetobacter(6.6%),and Fermentimonas(6.5%),genes related to the deco.pose of biodegradable organics,to Stenotrophomonas(10.2%)and Clostridiales(3.7%),which were associated with *** aeration efficiencies of lab-scale tests were in the range of 5.4–11.8 g BDM/L O_(2)for ARs with disposal ages of 1–13 years,and in situ landfill reclamation,ARs with disposal ages of 10–18 years were around 1.9–8.8 g BDM/L O_(2),as the disposal age *** increased discrepancy was observed in ARs at the lab-scale and field scale,indicating that the forced aeration rate should be adjusted based on ARs and the unit co.partment co.bined,to reduce the operation co.t.

Waste plastics mainly co.e from MSW and usually exist in the form of mixed plastics. During the co.pyrolysis process of mixed plastics, various plastic co.ponents have different physico.hemical properties and reaction mechanisms. co.sidering the high visco.ity and low thermal co.ductivity of molten plastics, a falling film pyrolysis reactor was selected to explore the rapid co.pyrolysis process of typical plastic co.ponents(PP, PE and PS).The oil and gas yields and the co.positions of pyrolysis products of the three co.ponents under different ratios at pyrolysis temperatures were analyzed to explore the co.pyrolysis characteristics of PP, PE, and PS. The study is of great significance to the recycling of waste plastics.

Biomechanical Study on the Novel Biomimetic Hemi-Pelvis Prosthesis

A pelvic endoprosthesis is the primary means of pelvic reco.struction after internal hemipelvectomy. In this study, a novel biomimetic hemipelvic prosthesis, including an artificial ilium, an artificial acetabulum, and an artificial pubis, was developed. A Finite Element Method （FEM） was carried out to investigate the biomechanical performance of a pelvis reco.structed with biomimetic hemipelvic prosthesis. Two models, including the reco.structed pelvis and the original pelvis （co.trol model）, were established acco.ding to the geometry from CT data of a human male patient with pelvic bone sarco.as. The FE models predict that the biomeehanical function of the pelvic ring can be reestablished using this prosthesis. Results show that the body force loaded on the S 1 vertebra is restored and transferred towards the sacro-iliac joint, and along the ilium onto the bearing surface of the artificial ilium, then to the artificial acetabulum and pubis. Von Mises stresses observed in this reco.structed pelvis model are still within a low and elastic range below the yielding strength of co.tical bone and Ti6A14V. The values of deformation and strain of the reco.structed pelvis are close to the data obtained in the original pelvis. With the partial replacement of the pubis, little influence is found towards the pubis symphysis. However, the interface between the prosthesis and pelvic bone may beco.e the critical part of the reco.structed pelvis due to the disco.tinuity in the material properties, which results in stress shielding and deformation co.straining. So a biomimetic flexible co.nection or inter layer to release the deformation of pelvis is suggested in future designing.
